i can confirm to you that my laptop that gives this error is actually running the ddr3 standard memory at 1.35V instead of 1.5V. It still works if you press continue but it is better if you replace the modules with low voltage ones type PC3L that are designed for 1.35V.
A question: The i7 2860QM can support up to 32GB of RAM. Is there a single 16GB DDr3 memory stick that is compatible to a 17inch 2011 MacBook Pro? If there is such a thing, can one hack into the bios and extend the memory capacity of that 17 inch to 32GB by using two 16GB memory sticks?
@@UltimateDIY Thanks for the reply though! I just found out about a single 16gb ddr3L ram stick with the same specs as regular 8GB RAM stick. Will be investigating about the bios now.. 👍🏾
I have added an identical module and got the same bulllsheet error. The new module is OK! Tested with various software and validated by the RAM utility itself from the laptop (HP Elitebook 840 G1)
I TOOK A RAMSTICK FROM MY OLD LAPTOP AND INSTALED IT INTO MY NEW ONE AND SHOWS THIS MESAGE BUT I SEE 6GB AFTER INSTALLING AND IT WORKS NORMALLY WILL DOING THIS CAUSE DAMAGE TO MY COMPUTER?
maybe you can help.i have a h55h-m motherboard and 4gb pc3-12800u ram ..the pc turns on ,as i goes to the windows loading screen it restarts..tried using different harddisk ..used windows 7-10 still wont work .i tried to boot it with a usb stick .none. of those worked..please help me
It's a driver problem. Which driver...that is something you need to find out. Boot in safe mode and disable drivers one at a time until it powers on normally.
@@UltimateDIY i also tried formatting all the drives used different windows ..removed vcard.i dont know ,which driver ? this happnd after cleaning ..it was working perfectly before..im not sure if im still using the same ram..could it be the ram? i tried to duplicate the problem .with my two laptops .i put the 1600mhz ram to my laptop that only supports 800/1066 mhz ram and it did .on what is going on with my pc..i hope i gave you all the details i know and the steps i did ..

To save everyone six minutes, the "fix" is to replace it with low voltage memory.
Edit: That said, it is an interesting investigation.
Thanks for the shortcut.
Thanks a lot for that info. Now I understand why we have the RAM modules with 'PC3' and 'PC3L'
Glad my video helped! ✌🏼

Yes, depending on the exact memory model it might work perfectly, or just seem to work and randomly crash.
Get G-Skill Ripjaws CL9 modules, they are compatible both with 1,5V and 1,35V laptops (pretty versatile)
So what was the point of ur video? I already knew everything u said. U did not solve anything. Thanks for nothing
Could you maybe try to imagine that other people don't know this? I know it's hard to belive the video is not made just for you.
just what I was looking for, thanks

Is it going affect the laptop over the long term if I press continue, or its fine?
I never did this for a long time, so I can't tell you for sure.
thanks brother, i have in my hp elitebook a ram of 8gb pc3L 12800s, so wich one of this ram i can use with it
-pc3 8500s 2gb
-pc3 12800s 4gb

Thank you HP.....
@@UltimateDIY Yeap, making things difficult its.. easier ..lol
Same low voltage Ram but show same problem in upgrade time why sir
Maybe some other incompatibility.

As far as I know it will not cause damage, but you will always see this error. I recommend you sell it and buy the proper ram module.
Thank you so much!!!

It's not a fix!
CAUSE: Older DDR3 or PC3 memory modules have similar dimensions to the DDRL or PC3L, so they do not need to be used in these systems.
Solution
FIX: Use only DDR3L or PC3L modules in these notebooks
Indeed.
