    Dude kills it. As good as a teacher as Paul Gilbert. No fuckery. Rocks it. Then slows it down and gets right to the point. Simple instructions. Wish all guitar lessons were like this.

    Who in the world gives these john 5 vids a thumbs down?!? As a fellow guitar player it is clear how much this man loves this instrument. All he is trying to do is share his knowledge of this beautiful instrument. Shame on those who thumbs down.

    One thing I like about John 5 is that he explores his solos far beyond your typical blues, minor pentatonic scale, but adds bluegrass, jazz, and outside harmonics.

  • @cafdo

    @CrushedJustice He's actually doing "pinch" or "artificial harmonics. What he does behind the nut is a bend of the string. Since he's not fretting any notes when he does the harmonic, the only way to bend it is behind the nut. You can achieve the same effect if you have a vibrato on your guitar, but his doesn't.

  • @salvatorepuccini4261
    @salvatorepuccini4261 5 лет назад

    the behind the nut bend is a lot easier on a tele then a strat. It's like the difference between cutting butter at room temperature vs right out of the fridge.

    @muzicboy99 Some DiMarzios but I'm not sure exactly which models. I'm just waiting for the day that a guitarist will think of using those behind-the-nut pinch harmonics with some delay to imitate whistles ;)
