I haven't seen anything where this guy is nothing but a down-to-earth nice bloke. He also is one of the more talented guitarists to have walked the planet. Bastard! ;)
My son lives in San Diego, he has metal friends, he educated me on them. I've learned they have talent built from all genres. I'm especially impressed by how much country guitar they play. I'm 71 And am a new fan.
This dude is the most chill guitarist ever. I ran into him briefly as a teenager in Toronto at the 12th fret. I took guitar lessons there. I was leaving and he was looking at a pink vintage ibanez jem. The store owner was trying to shovel him the guitar and he turned to my dad, "You think I can pull this color off?" Fucking funny class act.
It's the man not the machine...if a country player can use a Stratocaster for country music why not a Telecaster for rock...good to see musicians still breaking down barriers...just became a John 5 fan...very cool and talented cat
John 5 is in good company with his Tele. Plenty of famous rock guitarists use/used Teles: Keith Richards, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Alex Lifeson (Rush), Joe Strummer (the Clash), and about 50 others I can't think of or remember!
I'm an idiot. I've seen his name for years and dismissed him for some reason. He has a new found fan, like he needs more. Buck Owens was one cool dude, I think John 5 carries his spirit.
Larry, I wanted to say that I too was not one to care who John 5 was as I'm not into the Marilyn Manson/Rob Zombie types or music. I happened to be attending the Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim CA 4 yrs ago now, and had the chance to actually chat with John 5. At first I wanted just to pass by and see who else was there to see and get a photo/autograph with. BUT John 5 said; Hey there with a big smile, looking at me. I was taken back. Long story short; he is a true gentlemen, intelligent speaker, funny and very warm individual who knows a lot of different music genre's. If you ever get to, take a moment to meet him. You'll be impressed I'm sure.
Took me two more years than you to discover him. So much more to him than the heavy stuff I just bought his "Careful with that ax CD" . 2 year later added comment lol.
That’s funny , me too. I was a fan of white zombie , but never cared for Manson or the rob zombie band. So i never really gave this guy a chance, and kinda for the same reason. But he’s definitely a good guy .. and an excellent guitarist.
No doubt man dude is a modern day Roy Clark and one hell of a nice guy. Best guitarist maybe on the planet and that is a close Comparison to all before and to come. Kizzy 😎🤔🤔🤔
Without YT, I might never have discovered John 5, as there's not much chance of me purposely seeking out MM or RZ music. Not that there's anything wrong with it, just not my cup of tea. Or maybe it is, and I owe it a shot? Anyway, since my "discovery", I must have watched 50 J5 vids. I'm convinced this guy could hang with the elite in any genre of guitar playing. And yes, he does seem like a helluva nice guy.
I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say it: in a world where boy bands are seen as legitimate, and people consider rap and rapping as actual music, John 5 is MUSICs last and BEST chance to survive as something artistic and just plain good. He is, insanely talented, diversely trained and yet he chooses metal. The BEST players always do. He’s the only player i know of who could not only hang with EVH live, but give him a good run for the money. Speaking of EVH, does anyone else mind wasting time watching arguably one of the best guitarists in the world playing keyboards? Honestly, I don’t think I’m alone in my backing John 5 in ANY contest against ANY guitarist/ performer. We met John briefly at Universal studios. Not only does he share my families love of classic monster movies, but my grandkids think John 5 is the coolest musician in the world. They are 5 and 6 years old. I’m pretty sure they’re right and I sincerely appreciate the kindness and interest he met them with. A class act.
Well, both are pretty well known for adding country licks to metal/hard rock, and their pedalboards are almost identical. Especially Zakk Wylde's Ozzy rig... Zakk Wylde was my first big inspiration for guitar, J5 is my recent second. To see a collaboration would be a dream.
Es un excelente guitarrista. Pero le falta ese brinquito saque unos buenos riffs que dejen historia, que este en un buen grupo. Es lo que le falta. Para estar entre los 100 mejores
C'mon zombie 5,show us a difference riffs,notes,shred,watever...don't play the same thing again again and again, I'm out mad tired of your same KILLER RIFFS,sorry to say that.....keep learning dude...
I could listen to John 5 talk and play all day long, not such a fan of his music but a big fan of him... Great player.
Love John 5! Child-like passion for Tele’s and music of all sorts. Humble and personable too.
What a cool guy. So much talent and so humble. Thats why we love him.
I haven't seen anything where this guy is nothing but a down-to-earth nice bloke. He also is one of the more talented guitarists to have walked the planet. Bastard! ;)
Yes he is one of talented guitarists
Just came across him myself. He's a geetar monster.
I'm 66 and love great guitarists, John5 is right up there.
My son lives in San Diego, he has metal friends, he educated me on them. I've learned they have talent built from all genres. I'm especially impressed by how much country guitar they play. I'm 71 And am a new fan.
I love how much this guy loves Guitars and his love affair with Telecasters ❤
One of the only “celebrities” that would be really fun to hang out with.

I really like John 5. He is amazing and also just a cool down to earth guy!
It's the man not the machine...if a country player can use a Stratocaster for country music why not a Telecaster for rock...good to see musicians still breaking down barriers...just became a John 5 fan...very cool and talented cat
Totally agree. It's all in the hands and mind.
A Tele can do any kind of music,so simple so versatile
It is the player, not the guitar.
@@jgrossma did you call Bon Jovi a famous rock guitarist?
i love the fact that he is so simple in his rig setup. its all in the hands.
John 5 is super talented, WOW!!!
Seems like a really decent guy, nice to see a guitar player that do so many different styles.
He just seems like an extremely cool human being. and of course, an amazing musician! just recently discovered his music and now a huge fan.
Beautiful story about his wife and guitar 🤩🎸
John 5 is like Alice Cooper. Strange guy on stage, totally level headed straight forward guy off stage who knows his stuff.
MUGATU Rocking the new range...DERELICTE
Huge fan... 5 is 100% class... A genuinely great guy.

John "I actually buy a airline seat for it" 5
Man knows his stuff Teles have that mysteriously simple but brilliant tone and design that’s just proven tried and true in every genre it’s used.
J5 is such a cool down to earth good dude.
Seems like a really nice bloke. Excellent guitar player as well.
John 5 seems so cool
Dang. All these gear talk videos and no one ever asks what his string action, pup height, amp setting is... Otherwise, fantastic video! John 5 rules!
Without YT, I might never have discovered John 5, as there's not much chance of me purposely seeking out MM or RZ music. Not that there's anything wrong with it, just not my cup of tea. He comes across as an incredibly easy person to work with which isn't a trait found in many guitarist of his caliber and skill.
This guy seems like a really good humble kinda guy
"I'm really bad with years"...lol..love it..if the dude was 93,I could understand..
What a nice man he is :)
I agree. Minneapolis is the coldest place I've ever been in my life. And I survived the winters of 78-79 in Chicago. So what does that tell you?
Made that tele sound like a damn Banjo!! Pretty Sick!!!..Im gonna try that on my Les Paul Bwahahaha!!
Bowling Ball Tele is Gorgeous!!!
Wish he and Don Rich could have played together. Would have been epic.
I'm at war now trying to convince my family I must have a John 5 Ghost. It has become a quest. I may sell organs.
Johnny5 you kick some ass!

Let's just talk at a different tempo while sweeping. That's not a big deal right?
You can here robs fuckin yap in the background

Is this guy human. What an ability
And people say there are no more guitar heroes

fuckin nice sound at 11:13
He is actually addicted to playing guitar. Great addiction to have.
Top bloke
total dude
He reminds me of Nick Swardson.
что за красноармейский бушлат на нем?)
I would love to see a supergroup with John 5 and Zakk Wylde. Idk why.
Well, both are pretty well known for adding country licks to metal/hard rock, and their pedalboards are almost identical. Especially Zakk Wylde's Ozzy rig...

Could have picked a better location for the interview...geez...
The more you focus on that drum kit mic check.....😒
C'mon zombie 5,show us a difference riffs,notes,shred,watever...don't play the same thing again again and again, I'm out mad tired of your same KILLER RIFFS,sorry to say that.....keep learning dude...
who the hell still films in interlace mode? it's garbage.
that's all real? rude!
he plays the same shit in every interview lol
....its his way of warming up his fingers.
First time I have heard of this musician. He is a good player but he is to mechanical, no feeling and I have only heard him play other people’s tunes.
What... No stupid fake relic look?
