A 20 minute service lecture from the best table tennis coach, for free, with more on the way? Legend. ADDENDUM: Second best coach. Hard to out-coach LGL!
Absolute LEGEND you are, seriously. I've watched all of your videos at least 3 times EACH (the serve videos close to 10 times now) and I've even created a specific table tennis playlist thanks to you and your videos. Massive thanks, you really deserve more of a spotlight in the RUclips TT community!
look bro, I have something to tell you...... I've seen all your videos...and I simply love em all. You are such an amazing youtuber, player and person. Thanks for everything, seriously... Greetings from Colombia, and please keep uploading tutorials, gameplays and TT stuff
Dude you're killing it! Small tip for the no spin/back spin serve for everyone out there (I think you just forgot to mention it): Stomp your foot on the ground at the moment of contacting the ball. Due to flat hitting vs brushing being the main difference between the variations the sound of the ball can very easily give it away to your opponent. Great video, excited for the next part!
I would say though that making sure to also sometimes stomp your foot on the other servers too or your opponent may see the pattern of you stomping when its a no-spin
Amazing video. You did an awesome job explaining how to add different spin with the same motion. It not only helps me to replicate the serves , but allow me to decoding them when is my turn to receive. Please, make more videos like this one, analyzing the serves of the pros and trying to replicate them.
this is the first video i watch on this channel. im already in love. thank you for helping new players and potentially getting more people into the sport. great job man.
Another excellent video! You really do explain the process of these serves well plus give tips on placement. Thank you for caring enough about our sport to share your talent and experience.
Great video! I just discovered your channel and plan on watching all of your past content too. Where can I find all of those posters you have on the wall?
If backspin: Push or Loop (short = push , long = loop) If sidespin: topspin the ball If nospin: same as with sidespin If top-spin: top-spin it back / block it (heavy spin = block , not so heavy spin = topspin stroke) In general, if it is long, it is better to try to loop the ball since you begin attacking first. If it's short you should attempt to either add to the spin already on the ball (making it harder for your opponent to attack) or you should try to backspin it (does not work against topspin and nospin). Hope I expressed myself clearly, and if I'm wrong correct me
Easily one of the best Table Tennis Instructional pages on RUclips or any other sight. I am the Vice President of the University of Nebraska Table Tennis Club, and any new or old members that ask for help are always directed to your site for all the help and tutorials you provide. Thanks, Coach!
Honest question, if I were the opponent ( your camera angle) would it be an illegal serve bc I’m not seeing the full serve?? I’m new and learning so I could be wrong.
MAKE MORE SERVES VIDEOS! IM BEGGINNER (I PLAY 6 MONTHS) and i have only 4 serves (3 short and 1 long) and after one game my opponnent knows how to receive them. Thank you so much for this serves and keep it up! Love from Poland
thanks don't worry about the length of the video, can't wait for part 2 i enjoyed so much. probably the best serve tutorial for me .... thank you again from houston texas
Excellent videos as always! You had begun discussing kick serves but never really discussed on how to produce these extra spin serves. Please tell us in detail how to perform kick serves. Keep up the great work. Thank you!
There r still grt ppl alive on this planet coaches in ny ciuntry want money and still dont teach properly. But ppl like him spread knowledge for good. #Respect#Serve#TomorrowTableTennis
Great video, demonstration and explanation! Thanks very much for doing it. I am learning the serves you taught and hope I can serve as good as you. Looking forward to more table tennis tutorials from you!
Thank you very much for posting all this teaching/tips/techniques ! Your channel is surely one the best place on RUclips where to learn tabletennis properly ! By the way ,there are lot of vids explaining or teaching how to serve in a certain way but none of them explaining the next step , so after the opponent receive how should one prepare to go on with the rally and how to get in an advantage / attacking position . So what should be done after the serve to get a point ? Why sometimes we serve in a very affective way, with lot of backspin for example, but then we don’t win the point? It would be great if you can help me to better understand this ! Thank you any way... keep it up with these perfect lessons !
THX and that's a great suggestion. I kinda mentioned it (like for hook serve u should wait in the middle of the table for the third ball). But if I go into detail it'd be too long. This vid is mainly about serving and I'll probs dedicate another vid talking abt third ball attack.
Tomorrow Table Tennis [Non-profit] thank you for the answer ! I didn’t mean that you should have discuss these things in this vid , I just wanted suggest a new topic for a new video and ask for some help in the rally development . Can’t wait to watch your next video ! Thank you .
Very informative video TTT. My problem is that when I stand at the corner of table, I can't get around fast enough to hit the the third ball. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Par Garell uses following variations- i. Chop serve+real chop follow through ii. Chop serve+fake topspin follow through iii. Topspin serve+real topspin follow through iv. Topspin serve+fake chop follow through v. Then he can also do weak/no spins with either up or down follow through vi. He also has mastered heavy kick serve…basically very strong fast topspin
Thank you very much for your videos! For which players would you recommend a blade with straight handle and for which ones a blade with flared handle? :D
Very nice video, thanks ! I'd be interested to hear more about the reasons for the different ball placements for each serves and then which kind of third ball should be done, if you have the occasion.. :)
I'm a big fan of your. great player and great coach as well!!! I have watched all your videos and have learnt so many things. I recently bought a DHS 5002, can it be effective for this very spiny serves?
I am very new to the game and am learning a lot of things from your channel. Can you please suggest me some of the basic serves that I should use more often. And what shots shall I play and practice more. Thanks in advance though 😅
These ARE the basic serves you could try. Part 2 coming soon. UMmm i guess start with topspin? Multiball training is an effective way. Check out my video 'TABLE TENNIS SECRET BIBLE". All the important points are in there. AND THX
Great videos. Who are you? How old are you? Where do you play? What level do you play at? My guesses are around 20, somewhere in Canada, and at a pretty high level? Not sure how the Canadian rating system compares to the USATT.
This is a great video. Thank you. I've recently been having success changing my service philosophy a little based on a tip I got from a more experienced player. Much like your intro, I was doing a million different types of serves & spins. And while variation is important, the server has to know that he will get various spin returns back for their million serves. So instead I've focused on getting a predictable return and just becoming really good at that ball in 3rd ball attacking it. So right now I'd say I'm serving 75% heavy backspin short. Key is keep it low, short & spiny. Force them to push. Intermediate players will often struggle to keep their pushes on the table. If it goes off the table, FH loop that 3rd ball no questions asked. Then just mixed in the remaining 25% of serves between mostly no-spin serves and the occasional say side/topspin serve. But this video is great. Thought you regular backspin serve & no-spin serves look very similar by your motion. Only way I could really tell was by the flight of the ball after the serve. So you're doing good work there. Keep it up.

YEAA RIGHT!!

better yet, stomp on the other player's foot while they are serving :|
Love the foot stomp, I've been doing it for quite a while.
This method is a guaranteed win. Just take them in the back alley before the game and kick the shit out of them.
Exactly the type of information I've been looking for - all in 1 place! Big THANKS!!! Can't wait for part 2!
