Your observations are identical to mine. One thing I like to add here: Flexibility of all joints is utmost important. Stiffness is the enemy of all physical endeavors. I learned tai chi, yoga and chi gung when I was young. So ping pong is no big deal. I still play at age 81 and am a member of a club.
Very good video !!! congratulations on it...it was the best table tennis tips in a decade or even more for me. I always believed in this "feeling" training, but here in Brazil people dont use that tecnique. When i train with my trainer i say "now ill train my ping pong skills" that means i want to focus on the natural feeling of hiting the ball and not makeing mistakes on passing the ball, so the focus is to "pass the ball" and not to "do the point". When i do this, sometimes i make points with her that apears with a professional game, and i love it...those are the best table tennis moments to me.
Your videos have been really helpful for me, especially your explanation of Chinese psychology of table tennis. I've improved a lot over the past years watching you and implementing your advice into my game. Sincerely thank you for everything!
I wrote a comment 3 years ago , and ERT is 100% perfectly right in all his advices , i try to share your knowledge with new comers , those who dont lsiten stay at the same level . Toujours un plaisir de revenir sur mes pas et écouter tes lecons , merci beaucoup de ta générosité.
This video is very special. I like this video very much. It has taught me a lot about Chinese philosophy and its relationship with table tennis. Thank you coach.
Thanks coach. Your advice on feeling and spin really helped me improve a lot on executing top spin loop. I am using my body more and spinning more. The more spin, the more control. I got a new Ipong V300 during Christmas and that has really helped me also to find the conditions of a consistent good loop. Eyes on the ball when you hit.
Nice video! Thanks! we have only one great player in Belarus- Vladimir Samsonov. And there are plenty of great palyers in China! Having watched this video I have understood the reason. These training sessions are awesome!
I love this video... especially when you say "chiner" for china. Whenever m daughter does a wrong movement, I always say CHINESE and she knows what I meant. Right position, speed, power and accuarcy ;) Thanks for sharing this video!
Hi coach, @min 4:04 you mention about in CN fixing the elbow and not allowing players to move the forearm (from the elbow to the wrist). Do they tie it to their body? or how do they help players to focus away from that? Thank you, great pointers as always! Merci!
Hey this video is really good. I'm looking to do my level 1 coaching badge hear in England and in the future I see myself adopting some of these techniques But also they r extremely useful for me as a player as well. That relax and explode thing is something for me to really work on, along with making sure forearm stays more fixed
Sir Your videos really helped me to improve fast ..but now I want to request you to instruct me that how I can move my hands faster in table tennis ...usually many people told me that I am not able to move my hands faster So please help me to improve that
My local coach conveniently happens to be an ITTF level 3 certified coach - I can vouch for the 5 points coach emrathich spoke abt as my coach taught me these skills first
used to be clipper once upon a time. now its probably viscaria. zjk single handedly gave butterfly millions of customers. and as for rubbers, has to be a hurricane variant on fh and tenergy related on backhand.
Hi, I'm playing with Butterfly grubba softfeel off with more than 10 years. Two years ago I was changing rubbers to tenergy 05 for BH and FH. And now I would like to upgrade to new blades with rubbers. I would like to have more feelings and conroles of the ball. I saw several videos of your suggestions. I preferred Butterfly Viscaria and rubbers FH - tenergy 05 BH - tenergy 64 Or 80 I understand that it is really complicated to suggest something without seeing the game, but I would ask you what you would recommend upgrading my equipment? Thank you!
When you say hit by the legs, do you mean that we should make contact with the ball near our legs, or do you mean that we should just use our legs to generate the power to hit the ball? Or, should we do both?
thanks coach, let me ask same question. whay when i was practicing i can hit (playing) the ball with corectly but i play bad when i play table tenis in competition. thaks.
Hey man im starting to play competative table tennis in my local federation.I know most of the basic except the knows you show me so thank you im ganna apply all of these tactics next time I train so I can perfect. Now 1 thing I don't get is the racket thing I saw youre video on the chinese philosophy and it open my eyes to so many things that have never saw for example the artificial hit ain't strong as the natural hit that comes from you boby , where I live we focused on the racket and rubber to create the speed and spin and most of the people over here they have rackets with the grip being longer than that of there hand and you recommended Stiga. My question is:"What racket and rubbers do you recommend from Stiga?, keep in mind that my level is going up and a important part is the gear (I think).Thank You for youre vids and the time you put into them for people to get better in TT.
he explained in another video that the most important thing about ur bat is the blade anyways. the rubbers is just supportive and u can litterally take everything that is up to date i guess. i would recommend u harder rubbers for both back and forehand. u cant go wrong with tibhar evolution or tenergy rubbers.
You should start out something slow and more control for you to unleash your power without worry about hitting off the table. The faster your hit, the faster your game will be in. It will give you less time to recover to be ready for next shot. You want to constantly attacking on every shot to make your opponent stay in defense.
Great video. I have some questions if you can help, or anyone in the chat, i would be really greateful. Ive been playing TT for just over 8 months now and started playing competitivly at a low level. Ive gone form knowing nothing about TT, to being the current most successful in my team this season... so far... so i feel like im improving well. I apply these coaching tips and am continuing to learn tacitcally as well as technically but know nothing about equipment. I use a very very basic bat, costing less than £30 for the blade and rubbers and wondering if i really need to upgrade the equipment i use? I feel comfortable with the blade as i like the weight and balance it has but my rubbers are very low quality and no grip. What is more important... Blade? or Rubbers? Any advice what to buy?... My style is controlled accurate attacking. I dont like to play defensivly and dont like to block or chop unless returning. My weakness is returning slow balls with alot of chop. I feel as though i cant create spin or my rubbers just dont have any grip? My coach has told me they are very bad. thanks for your help.
【☯】ɈẨƇƘ【♞】 Hi Jack.. sometimes it depends on personal preferences. I am using H8 on my FH TB ZLC and Viscaria, and H350 on my FH TB ALC. H 8 has a bit softer top layer and sponge, it is not too tacky compared to H3Neo. Feels good, spin easier. H8 is too soft if I use it on my Off TB ALC. H8 needs Off + blades or stiff blade like my Viscaria or ZLC.
Thanks for making the video good work !! Is there a rubber that helps you make the transition Europe to Chinese easy ? in may experience with Chinese rubber I have 0 feeling :(
hello coach and thanks a lot for your awesome videos, they were very helpful to me. Well I play with (butterfly tamka 5000 blade),(donic coppa Jo platin rubber) on forehand, and(yasaka mark 5 rubber) on backhand, and the backhand rubber is not supporting me to play offensive. So can you suggest me a rubber and please tell some of the strategies for a left handed offensive player.
Hello Emratthich, I don't understand what you mean when you say "you must fix the ball" (point 3 of this video). Please, could you explain me what is "fix the ball" ? Could you show an example of ball fixing ?Thank you in advance and best wishes.
+Christian Vauthey many amateurs playing hit the ball too soon. Somes hit too late. Its the question of timing. Fix the position of the ball before hitting means always hit the ball at the same moment on its trajectory. For example. Always hit when the ball stops on its highest bounce.

I am an old Chinese player, and I agree with all the points presented here. Good video.
hi Wing Low :) Thank you. Chinese philosophy about table tennis is so deep.
We need to present it to all of the people

great advice. Yes, many players are too tense and then can't accelerate at the right moment.
Wow, you are 81! Best regards,

what is your advice of changing styles...as you gain age... I am going to 40s and I feel lesser power and speed compared to before.

Joey Chipman The blade is more important compared to the rubbers. However, the rubbers also do make a considerable difference on your game.
Joey Chipman buy ALL+ blade what is not so heigh and for rubbers buy a soft one with tacky topsheet for better looping backspin and also stroke deff
What name do your rubber and blade have? Did you use a pre made bat that you bought at a supermarket?
Sincee1809 and
Hayden Ward This is important to know. He may already have a decent blade or might want to upgrade both
Excellent
