Technivorm never uses bleach to whiten their filters!! They use oxygen (still not as eco friendly of a process as a brown filter but brown filters impart taste). Bamboo filters are a great alternative to get great tasting quality coffee versus using metal (taste concerns) or cotton filters (water conservation concerns). Awesome review!! Thanks for reaffirming direct trade!! I love coffee enthusiasm!
At 6:02 you talk about the provided white coffee filter being bleached, most white filters are but I think they say theirs are whitened using an oxygen bleaching method that doesn’t use chemicals and is better for the environment.
You've got yourselves a new subscriber! I am all about sustainability, respect for coffee farmers (and these beautiful Moccamaster machines made on my home turf 😊) and was so happy to hear about your fantastic program. It's a shame I live on the other side of the world, or I would definitely be buying your coffee today. Anyway, keep it up folks, because I love your videos :)
I received my machine a week ago and have been using it every day. Sometimes twice a day! Loving the coffee this machine makes! However, I noticed something that seems like a design flaw. When the machine is at its normal operating temperature (which is very not), the plastic water reservoir lid deforms to where it no longer sits flat on the water reservoir. I believe this has to do with the very close proximity of the plastic lid to the 9-hole water outlet arm. Once the machine cools this plastic lids then returns to its normal shape, where it can then rest flat on the water reservoir. This "heat/deform" and "cool/reform" of this plastic lid does not seem like it was designed into the machine and my concern is this may permanently warp the plastic water reservoir lid. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue as well. If so, has Moccamaster done anything to correct this problem?
First off excellent video and thanks for sharing! What are your thoughts on the One Cup version? I have four coffee drinkers in our house and nobody likes the same coffee which is maddening and why we use a Keurig, but I'm sick to death of it. We spend at least $150 or more a month just for at home coffee. We do also have a Breville Barista Touch for all our espresso based drinks. Problem there is while some Americanos are anywhere from good .. to .. okay .. some are awful which is why I want a single serve. Even though we have a good weight dosing grinder, fresh ground coffee on a Keurig is like licking the ground. Any insight would be welcomed!
I have not used the one cup version, and cannot comment on it. Using a Keurig is one of the most expensive ways to make coffee, per pound of coffee. Almost never fresh coffee, and often a big contributor to Land Fill issues. This MoccaMaster can go all the way down to brewing 250 ml or one cup, but gives you the flexibility to brew up to 1.5 L
@@bobfish9617 .. Thanks it's a direction that I'm heading in, I heard from someone who owns one the cup one will allow up to 14 oz before it overflows. Trust me I don't love the Keurig it just solves a problem which is why it's so popular. Find me a machine that has at least three or four coffee bins and can fresh grind at a touch of one button 10, 12, 14, 16 oz .. brew in a couple minutes .. sign me up now! I've even considered the Breville Grind Control Coffee Maker or basically anything to get away from Keurig. The biggest problem is my wife doesn't like to futz around with coffee and the four of us living in my household all want different coffee. Thanks for the reply have a wonderful day! I used to have some Cuisinart Grinder coffee machine which was fine I guess for some people but in my house everyone likes different coffee and making a carafe full of coffee is a complete waste.
I am getting my 60th Anniversary MM, new to the real coffee making world. I got my scale, grinder, and, of course, my Moccamaster. How do you store the open bag of beans? Do you just keep it inside your grinder machine? Or?? I am getting the Baratza Virtuoso+ Coffee Grinder. But I like the idea of your grinder that automatically just weights and just grinds. Great video. Helps a lot. 🎉
Really, not cut any trees down?? Paper is far superior in the coffee filtering business, and, Technavoum does not recommend using a permanent type filter, I suspect because you ALWAYS END UP WITH GROUNDS IN THE POT, Hence, why You gave misinformation about the tube putting the coffee grounds directly to the bottom, when a paper filter prevents that. The tube is to mix the coffee as with the different saturation stages during the brewing process that happens, Naturally, not for directing the grounds to the bottom. Go grow some trees in your backyard to cut down and burn in the fireplace, that isn't a waste, its to provide warmth, and from a completely renewable tree, something that can also be used to make, GREAT DRIP COFFEE. Thanks For the Entertainment, keep up the Comedy show, Fun stuff👍🏻🤣
You mentioned using this for 1 cup. Does it work ok? They have a specific 1 cup machine. 90% of the time I just make one cup; occasionally the extra capacity would be useful. Thanks for the helpful video!
I wouldn't use their one cup machine. Having up to a liter and a quarter is more flexible. Yes 250 ml for a traditional small cup or 500 ml for a BIGG American size mug work well. If doing a 250 ml cup though, I would let a little hot water run through the brewing arm first, to preheat.
Despite what Technivorm may say this product is clearly not "hand made". Nobody sculpted the pot lid out of a block of plastic, or banged out the casing from a sheet of metal for example. It may well be "hand assembled" and good for them. But it's not "hand made".
This was the most informative thing i've ever watched on coffee. Thank you.
Thank you! We make a lot of coffee content. I hope you'll consider subscribing. Cheers!

The flow rate vs grind tip was golden! I’ve been using a Techinvorm for a couple years and never thought of that. Great content!
Thanks Kevin! We appreciate the lovely feedback, and that you're watching! More to come. :)
Fabulous, great feedback !! Thanks for taking the time :)

Super Fine -- Welcome
I can't wait to sip my first coffee from that baby! Thanks for bringing us this knowledge.

Not heard of that. Frankly (because of my regular usage) I have put away both lids permanently.

Yay! So glad you like it! We are using ours daily, too.

🎉
Let it bloom by turning off the machine and close the shutoff. 30-60 sec.
Perfect !!
Technivorm recommends white paper filters for the best taste. Brown filters will alter the flavor.
You are right !!
I used a metal filter for awhile, and I found that altered the flavor as well. I went back to white paper filters.
Really, not cut any trees down??

That’s a $900 grinder!!
This dude founded Bigby coffee lol. They're all over the Midwest, at least where I live in Michigan they are.

They’re a Dutch company, not a French or Scandinavian company. Many Dutch people have French names thanks to the Belgian border.
Thanks Corey Feldman
