His feeling of helplessness, possibly watching her die so quickly just like his father did. And Kate did not know why he reacted the way he did but still comforted him is sweet and shifted their worlds after this. My view of Anthony changed for the greater in this season. Their on screen chemistry is amazing! Johnathon Bailey has come a long way from his role in the film, Testament of Youth in 2014. I Love it! I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that Johnathon Bailey is gay. However I think it’s great for him since for a time he believed he had to be straight in order to be happy. @@nawal10 I kind of saw this scene as a good lesson for what to do when someone you know is having an anxiety attack. A lot of people either don’t know or don’t take anxiety serious. Especially the type of anxiety attack Anthony is having in this particular scene when they see someone they know who has an episode of the same or similar type of attack.
There’s nothing more powerful than immediately calming yourself down first, and changing your tone of voice when helping someone who’s experiencing an anxiety attack like Anthony is in this scene. In my personal experiences, I’ve used touch before to help a coworker calm down from an anxiety attack that was a result of a medical issue. Not the kind of touching that we see here of course, clearly Kate placing his hand on that part of her chest where the bee stung, was done to enhance their romance to the viewers. But I have held my coworker’s hand while instructing her to breathe in and out slowly until she could get a better control of her anxiety episode so she could call her mom to come and take her to the hospital.
Anyway, that’s kind of how I saw this scene.

Initially, I was disappointed with this scene compared to the book (And I'm just gonna say SPOILERS for anyone who hasn't read it yet): In the book, Anthony also panics like we see here. However, he proceeds to try to get the venom out. First with a handkerchief, then he tries to SUCK it out. I'll leave it there for anyone who now wants to read the book to see what happens next...
Looking back, I realized this made more sense when you consider the fact he was (In the show) present when his dad was dying, which took less than a minute. In the book, he found out after the fact, and wasn't sure of the details surrounding his death outside of the bee sting, so he wasn't sure how to act facing the situation with Kate later.
Overall, this scene is still very good

I nearly had a heart attack when I seen them alone with a bee in the garden on barely episode 3 😂😂😂 for a few minutes I had to pause it because I was kinda freaking out thinking that the book scene was actually going to play out and my mind just kept screaming that this scene was coming wayyyy too soon and that it would make more sense if it happened in episode 7 or 8, then once I was brave enough to continue the episode, I was so glad it didn't actually play out like I thought it would. I was discussing the change with my sister who also watched the show the same day I did and we came to the conclusion that they probably changed it in order to not give the audience a repeat of season 1 where they were caught in the garden then urged to wed, if it happened in the same situation as Simon and Daphne then the audience might not be too entertained by the idea.

@@MarySanchez-zl1sg I've been thinking a lot about the changes in the show as the second book is my favorite: I realized when it came to those elements, books 1 and 2 are identical in a sense: Marriage of convenience, some sort of distress during that time frame that drives the husband away. There are many more, who deserve to be seen on both the big and small screen. The prejudice toward darker skinned actors in India is appalling. It causes many to take dangerous chances with their health by using lightening creams and treatments. It is believed, that lighter skin will afford them better employment opportunities. Clearly, this mentality needs to stop. How many wonderful actors ( and other skilled professionals!) are losing opportunities over an ignorant and archaic mindset? I am finding all the books completely ridiculous and this rarely happens....I am always such a book nerd and supporter that this really surprised me...all the male characters are such entitled douches....reading Eloise's book now and I am really struggling to like that Philip...unless there's some really big character development I don't think I will continue...props to Shonda for making these men look attractive and desirable on screen

@@rjloveful You finding the books ridiculous is testimony to the fact that the world has changed. You are finding the books ridiculous because thats exactly how men back in the day were. You are finding it unworldly because luckily it's far better now. You are the one being ridiculous for watching a show just for 'attractive and desirable' men.

    • @rjloveful

@@SebinMatthew There's no need to counter...I ain't starting a hate club or anything...just that I didn't like any of those book male characters...you are allowed to have likes and dislikes right? Also I am not watching it FOR attractive and desirable men...wherever did you get that meaning? I said the book male characters don't have much redeemable qualities but the show makers did a good job making them have that...this show is nothing but an entertainment drama and I look at it as such...there are literally millions of books to adapt from with good messages... these books are nothing compared to them...also when watching a lead character you want to root for it right? If they followed the book it would be hard, so yes men in those days might have been terrible but we are watching a movie, a series....not a documentary

@@SebinMatthew that's what you get for being presumptuous. And why I find the bee scene ridiculous is how tropey it feels. Don't get me wrong, it fits the genre but when you're doing an adaptation, the whole philosophy is that you're adapting it to a different medium and some things just works differently. Books like Bridgerton (and I'm also talking about the whole genre) just wont work with direct adaptation with very minor changes. It would make the adaptation very bland. With adaptation, they need to add more things, give more structure, add insights into other characters etc. And Netflix nailed all of them. I like the book as it is but I know for a fact that that bee scene just won't work in the adaptation.

It wasn’t really a traditional love triangle though. At least not between Kate, Edwina, and Anthony. I think it was more between Kate and her love for her sister and growing feelings for Anthony.
