I had just noticed that when she says "my lord" the first time, it looks as if SHE is panicking and he probably thought she was reacting to the sting the way his father did before he died.
I actually watched an interview with Simone Ashley and she explained that since Kate is very good with animals, case in point, Newton and horses, she's very good at taming animals and humans and keeping them calm hence it made sense how she was able to calm Anthony down when he was having a panic attack and how she was able to calm Edwina when she was crying because Anthony failed to propose

@@danwdllg8221 Kate was essentially saying that he was not capable of producing positive feelings, but in his panic attack he showed her that he cared for her safety. That helped them both get closer to each other (emotionally more than physically), Anthony found someone who understood him, didn't mock his fears and calmed him down, and Kate found that Anthony was a good and caring man in his heart, and suitable husband(for her sister at the time).
It killed his dad, they essentially ruined his life
She handled that bee sting like a freaking pro. I would’ve cried

The way that Kate was with Anthony says so much about who she is as a person and how she already cares about Anthony. She was upset with him but her tone with Anthony changed immediately once she realized something was wrong in how he was acting. She didn’t need any explanation, her anger was gone right away and she saw that he was in trouble. She put his hand on her chest, without a second thought about how inappropriate it was to do that during this time, and did the same with her hand on his - she was so incredibly tender. This scene is so beautiful

Could not agree more! Everyone in this show is obviously very talented, but Mr. Bailey is beyond incredible. The changes in tone of his voice, the way he can act with his face, eyes and body language is pure talent. 🐝

This scene is such a game changer for Anthony, because Kate captured his attention in a completely different way at this moment. She showed honest concern for him, comforting him in his distress - probably the only person in ages who has actually recognised that Anthony needed some human care as well.
I think they became aware of their feeling very definitely after this moment. Really love their acting and music score in this scene!

The subtle shifts in both their expressions, I can - and I have - watch it over and over. Masterclass. It just gets you right in the chest. Anthony's double take to dawning and subtle realization to worry to panic. Kate's dismissive, almost amused bewilderment to sharper dismissal and then annoyance to quick realization and concern, then taking charge in a soothing way. Like, you can see each beat. Yet it's so seamless. Whew.

This was the first time someone has truly helped/taken care of Anthony’s trauma
The diversity of emotions and expressions they both showed in this scene are immaculate. This scene in the book is really amazing, but I prefer the show's because it didn't result in their forced marriage, and instead we got to see them falling in love equally and their marriage was the fruit of their love not 'forced'. Jonathan Bailey has to win an award for his unmatched acting in season 2, he'd unbelievable.
Agree. I’ve just finished reading the part where they agreed to get married just because of the bee. It is from that moment that I’ve realized that the path that the series went through is much better.
No but feeling the heartbeat is an excellent and very effective method to calm someone down, I occasionally suffer from panic attacks and that's exactly what I do, I place my hand on my chest so I can feel my heartbeat and it works everytime. I can't explain why but it has saved me in numerous occasions
How Kate switched emotions from all shield to concerned and calm was amazing. Her eyes got me everytime

The first time I saw this I nearly cried at his showing of an anxious trauma response. Both Jonathan and Simone did so wonderful in this scene, it was incredible to watch
I'm in love with them !! The intensity of this scene. He was so afraid of losing her !! I want to cry it's so beautiful. The way she reassures him, he is absorbed in her voice and he gets lost in her eyes 🥰😚🥵 it's from this moment that nothing else matters.

it's the fact that anthony always had to handle everything and he finally can breakdown too and have someone who instinctively knows what he needs in that moment. The range of emotions of both actors makes it so real. Dare I say this one scene tops all the scenes in Bridgerton season 1, and that's hard as hell to do. Like damn.
What I love most about this scene is that kate has no damn clue what is going on. We have context into his father's death, but she, in the midst of irritation and lack of knowledge of the situation she took charge and was able to give him care. Edwina is cool, but she would not be able to connect with him in this way at all.
Aww this shows how much Anthony needs Kate. She’s the only one who can take him away from his pain. So beautiful.

For a bee sting he lost a great love (his father) and with another bee sting he won the great love of his life. Terrible and beautiful circumstance at a different time. 🐝💔🐝💘🐝
*I keep seeing people say that this is lust. No true love is being able to be vulnerable & your true self with your partner. If you notice he has never lied or had to “put on” for Kate, I hope everyone gets this type of love at least once in a lifetime.*

God Johnny and Simone are terrific in this scene. The panic that practically courses through Anthony’s mind just rips through the screen and into your soul. And Kate just resting his hand on her heart so she can prove that, hey, she’s still alive she isn’t in shock before dying she’s alright, it’s just *chef’s kiss*
I do believe in fact it was Kate who "looked" at him with "her eyes" first.
His look was one of panic.

This scene set his heart on fire. That was their first intimate moment even though that wasn’t the intention. What got me was how a couple of scenes later when she’s sitting thinking about the interaction Edwina says ever since that creature pricked you. Which was a hidden message. The rest of the season is the show burn. That was the spark
This was the turning point of their relationship. After this, they both knew they couldn't suppress their feelings for one another.
I haven't seen anyone else mention the first part of the scene so I will now. Before the bee sting I think Anthony is being honest with Kate about why he didn't declare himself to Edwina. He obviously feels comfortable enough with Kate to honestly state his reason's why. To me that shows he already knows deep down how he feels about Kate and couldn't bring himself to propose to Edwina in front of everyone like that. But Kate just totally brush's off what Anthony is saying about his feelings and starts to lay into him instead. Then a minute later the Bee happens and there is NO going back for either of them.
Well, when it comes to Kate, you're very vocal with your feelings Lord Bridgerton 😂
Think there was a hidden meaning there. He was subconsciously falling for Kate. So those feelings of Kate were really what prevented the proposal.
Damn this scene made me emotional they have amazing chemistry.
Both of their acting is crazy. They have such subtle emotions that would go unnoticed but bring the scenes to life so much. Nothing feels forced or cringe (like season one sorry 😂) like I didn’t skip thru any of their scenes because it didn’t feel like uuuughhh here we go again
His fear of her dying like his dad I believe made him love her more!! I believe this is the significance of this scene... and then when he tells her how his dad died and she truly understands his panic, I believe it made her love him more ❤❤
And just like that, we realize that Anthony needs ✨Therapy✨

I noticed that too. I do think she really wanted to thank him for not proposing too. At that moment she is still set on her sister getting involved with anyonelse but Anthony. Then the BEE stings and she's got another reason to be against this proposal.... starts dilemma time for Kathani as much as for Anthony... Loved it soooo much❤❤❤.

Its in the brief moments that bring people unexpectedly on the edge of life and death, when the only thing fundamental reveals itself, this scene beatifully portrayed such moment. His nonverbal yelling of "just dont die. You can be anywhere, be with anyone. Just dont die." Is a masterpiece. This feels like unconditional love to me.

I just wish everytime I replay that this scene was longer.. i love the intensity of this scene, i love the torture it brings the viewers haha
I have two favourite scenes in this season: This one and the one where Anthony's mother tells him that Kate has woken up after her riding accident. Of course, there are other beautiful scenes. But in these ones, we witness Anthony, who is always trying to remain in control of himself, losing this control.
In both scenes, Anthony's reaction is so realistic that it put tears in my eyes while watching them for the first time. Here, he has a proper panic attack, not only because he fears for Kate's life, but also because he is reliving the extremely traumatic scene he had with his father, an overwhelming combination. But especially in the second scene, I was truly crying because his reaction was so relatable and authentic. He had been tense and fearing for Kate to die for days - all the time trying to bury himself into family business so he wouldn't have to think about the worst case scenario. And then, when his mother tells him she is okay, all this tension breaks him down because he is so relieved. I honestly sat there and was just grateful for his mother to be so supportive.
This scene is so powerful!!! The fear he felt and the way she calmed him down. The chemistry between them. Beautiful

I absolutely adore this scene. It is so romantic in so many ways. Kate gives up being mad at Anthony when she sees he is vulnerable and he falls in love with her because she is kind. Their chemistry is insane. So in tune. So beautiful.

This poor guy most likely went his entire life thinking if you get stung by a bee you die. Granted since his father was allergic the probability of him/ his siblings being allergic is super high.

When he said "my feelings wouldn't allow it to be" and then he slightly leaned towards her, he actually meant his feelings for her and she didn't get it.
Because he showed her that he's interested in Edwina and pursued her despite kate's objections. So before this scene kate never thought he'll be in to her as he was trying to win Edwina right in front of her.
Also when he tried to propose during dinner he looked at Kate before realizing he couldn’t do it. His feelings were stopping him indeed 🥺❤️
