- The White House Sub Shop carries the great honor of calling itself “the home of the submarine,” and although it isn’t the birthplace of the sandwich, it certainly is well-known both in and out of Atlantic City, NJ. After countless recommendations, The Meat Show host Nick Solares was so excited to try the famed sandwich that he decided to tackle three different types.

so glad that the pepper oil was not only gentle, but reassuring
I'm thankful it was my first time!
shud have used motor oil
☺
Every time I walk into a sandwich shop I order "The Italian." If they can do that right then I will come back. It is amazing how many sub places cannot get such a simple yet perfect sandwich right. That meaty grinder looked great and now I am craving some cold cuts on bread.
I ate almost a whole Italian sub from White House subs last year and it’s hard to even put into words how good every single bite was. It’s a heavenly experience. I stuffed myself so much it was like after thanksgiving . It’s hard to stop eating
Nick slowly become a succulent meme
Jesus dude..it's a guy on youtube that eats food. Go outside
Poorna Prithvi That high blood pressure of yours is going to cause you an early death too. As well as an overdose of salt. You're fucked.
Poorna Prithvi why do you still watch meat show then?
he/she/it is indian. all the eating of the cows has set he/she/it off.
This is perhaps the funkiest concussive platonic video on this channel
Bryan which episode is that from?
Nick has quickly become my favorite food show host on your channel. Please give him my regards, Eater!
The owner constantly passing in the background to see what he's saying haha
Sean McDonagh i live down their and whenever i go their she is always walking around
She's been walking around that place for 48 years.
Nick and Ray Hudson should do a video together...
"This sandwich has some absurd concentrated complexity to it." -Nick
"This sandwich was braver than a matador in a pink tutu, it's like a dinosaur with hemorrhoids!" -Ray Hudson
But how platonic is the sub?
I don't even describe sex with my girlfriend as exquisitely as he describes one bite of a sandwich.
onemulatto yeah. cz u didnt enjoy it to the max
Your girlfriend must not be the platonic ideal
Her vaginal walls are probably just not concussive enough.
How's that relationship going?
Regardless of what people thinks, i find nick an enjoyable and a really fun host.
Distressed Person I like him
+Distressed Person 👍👍
Without him there is no meme, everybody loves him
Having followed the meat show for a little while now, Nick USED to be verbose and pretentious (about 2 years ago). He's way better now and I think most people would ultimately agree. With that said, the guy is so memeable.
Those are brutal looking subs. The closest I can get to any sort of resemblance in Texas is Jersey Mikes. This video makes me want to go there. Everyone seems to think subs are the best in Boston and New York but the middle Atlantic states like Maryland, Delaware, Philly, South Jersey all have excellent subs. Best meatball sub I ever had was in Annapolis and Tacoma park MD. For Cheese steak sandwiches, Boston. New York pizza is the best but can find good pizza all over the eastern seaboard. As with submarine sandwiches.
Was that sandwich the profound platonic ideal, or did it not fit your concussive sardonic palette?
inFamousX he was noticeably less pretentious this video, give him some credit
You're a nerd.
And I understood what you were saying.. :P
inFamousX i lold quite hard there
needs more funky and furry notes.. oh and don't forget tangy notes
the dry aged wagyu of jokes strikes again
2:40 I'm not sure if he's just moaning or starting to cry, either way you made my day Mr. Solares
It's unctuous in an ethereal way
White House sub is one of the greatest sandwiches I've ever eaten.
Man i wish i had a place like this on my block
Excellent video. Great job!
Not enough memeing from Nick in this video
Ah --- good call for next video.
Eater can you ask Nick to use "maillard reaction?" It's been a while
I just love the way the owner keeps lurking behind Nick for half the video.
She's a waitress
She's been working there for 48 years. She started in 1975
Nick never confirmed whether the cheese added a profound viscous coating or not, we'll never know.. :(
2:15
You can tell he wanted to say "Maillard" so badly there.
The concussive plantonic ideal sub?
Those sandwiches look amazing!
My mouth is drooling. Will be making the 2 hour drive next month to White House.
Loving this show and the host!
I want another Etheral video Nick. Good shit as always
I'm from Philly and I love going to the Whitehouse don't eat red meat or pork but the chicken cheesesteak is awesome and the chicken parmesean is great also!!
Do the chicken cacitorre. Best sandwich on the menu.
@@tomjones5650 Okay I will try it thanks!!
"This is the type of Meatball you invision Frank Sinatra having eaten"
who says that?
and the fuck does that mean?
you're right, I was envisioning more of an Al Capone
way more of a Walter Sobchak meatball.
Sinatra's from New Jersey? Maybe? I don't know
Ann Frank would have been a Belieber
That it's classic and hasn't changed much since the mid-20th century presumably. Not that hard to figure out what he means, not sure why everyone gets off on hating everything Nick says.
South Jersey has the best food in the area, but these subs are beyond description! We drive three hours to get there, not just for the subs, but they really add to the trip
Subscribed because of this guy.
Before I die, I'd love to be able to have those sandwiches - they look sooo good..
Philly locals don't normally get whiz on a cheesesteak. Yes, some get it but whiz is mostly for tourists.
love this guy
I'm from NYC but White House makes the best Sandwiches..the "Special" and the Cheese steaks are unbeatable.
Great production !
Been going to this place for over 10 years. Everyone I introduce to it becomes a life long fan
great vid. As usual. best presenter on eater.
If you're in New Jersey go to LBI to the Chicken or The Egg in LBI
I ate there often,my grandfather owned a pharmacy a block from there
Love the show! Keep them coming!
I had the steak sub here was great. Loved it one of my favorite subs ever. Also had the meatball and I was not impressed I ended up throwing most of it out the meatballs were gross
Meatballs have to be from an Italian Restaurant. And don't order Italian in a diner!!
I have had all 3 of those featured subs at the White House & ALL 3 are outstanding! The Formica Bros. Bakery Italian roll is top notch & above the rest!!! Fuhgeddaboudittt.
PLATONIC IDEAL Solares
These all look really good but holy shit the SIZE of them haha!
Even when they make pasta they use to put tons of cream, oil and butter into it, everything has to be rich and creamy. Let's say a person eating 150 cal more then he need everyday, that person will gain about 50lbs in a year.
I ate these before I live here
I love ALL sandwiches. It's my favourite food 😋😋😋😋💖
BEEFY AND TOMATOEY?
This guy is very enjoyable.
grew up on these
As soon as I saw the title I knew it was The White House sub shop...
2:40 - a concussive experience indeed
That Formica Bakery bread makes the sandwich
everytime i watch eater hosted by nick, i always paused the video and go to comment section first.
Everyone used to dislike this guy, now he's gone i think we all want him back :(
haven't been to this part of flavortown before
Those look delicious
At first I was wondering about the comments but after watching some episodes i did understand them and it was concussive
The most delicious Italian bread that
creates the perfect White House Sub
that I have known since I was a girl.
Anna Penrod 😎
those are real sammichs. it is easy to tell even from the video the ingredients are expertly made.
I love meat ❤️ and this show makes me love it more.
The groans of a man with meat being shoved into his mouth really opens my mind.
Holy mother fucking shit nick didn`t sound as pretentious in this video... am i dreaming? is he actually a more down to earth host now?
the maillard reaction is merely a rumour in this video
So the hosts are all over the place. Philly, NJ, SF, and god knows where Serena is.
I wonder if Nick ever reads the comments on his videos ...
I prefer the subs that Lucas did in San Fran
I like nick ...he is simply platonic guy
paulson thomas but is he the platonic ideal?
First the Knife and Fork and now the White House. You're hitting all the old spots. Stop off at the Irish Pub for a cold one.
In case his memery in the video wasn't enough they got the spinalis dorsi to feature in the outro
AC bread is the key to a perfect sub.
Go to Tastees!!! That's where it's at. Or Hoagie Haven. Or Stuff yer Face for some epic POTACHOS. You won't regret it. -a fan and NJ local.
right
an episode where he doesnt say spinolis dorsi, but they end it with a clip of him saying it
Can't wait to hit this next time I'm in NYC. Goddamn!
That is a half ???...holy cow !
was so distracted by the owner pacing back and forth as he ate
I think the terms "platonic", "concussive", "maillard" and "succulent" have run their courses in Nick's comment section. As for the sandwiches, I can't eat my cold subs all folded over like that. It's just a mess. Cut the bread all the way through please. They all looked delicious though.
I might like the comment section of The Meat Show better than the actual show.
That bread looks like when you bite into it, you're going to cut the roof of your mouth.
it's savory
everybody hating this video still watches it, they call that a paradox
Love meatball subs but don't forget napkins and more napkins.
omg...yum
Dr. Huxtable approves
I literally would watch this guy review bottled water
very well done Nick. if i would give you any direction in how to film these videos i would say just simply do you. dont let these haters get to you. if they dont like watching your videos they can stop but hey youre still getting paid for their views. keep up the good work. your videos are all awesome.
if you want a bomb philly cheesesteak, go to jersey mikes and get the big kahuna. so bomb....
srsly, why has Nick became such persona non grate down in the comments? I enjoy every single video he hosts, and he complements Lucas very well - thanks to that Eater is complex and multi-dimensional...
i just watch these for the comments 😂😂
How does nick eat all that?
henryjw15 camera crew !
Nick isn't pretentious, those who think so are just unintelligent.
Agree with you 100%. Most of the viewers are just high school kids and other people from foreign countries that barely know how to speak english so it wouldn't be right to call them stupid pants sagging dumbasses and low-lifes from developing countries. Ey bruh, am i rite? Ain't i rite yo? Plez tell me im rite aight? im gon check comments section later but in da mean time im gon facetime ma gurl. One luv. YOLO
P.S. Shout out to ma Early Squad and all ma peeps in ESL Classes.
Damn...you're right Emlyn Bilbie. Credibility is gone. Ma Badz Bruh mwrkhan. Your comment was so platonic to me but after the annotations i made, i made yours seem like detritus through the eyes of others..
lol nice try Nick, you platonic ideal fuck.
I don't think Nick is pretentious either. Clearly, he loves his job and food, still if you think he is you don't have to be stupid. The best way to express yourself is the way with the least ability to be misconstrued by other people. The whole Platonic ideal thing is a silly way to express the sentiment that it is what a food is like when you think of that food.
He expresses himself quite badly, but not pretentiously, in my opinion.
*empathy...*
so platonic
nick should go to nusr-et its extremely tender
Never trust someone who has a freaking spider web tat on their elbow
Don’t disrespect boars head like that Nick
The first sandwich was a Cheesesteak Hoagie.
Its like you found the uncoolest most geeky twerp. In the world and gave him tattoos and hipster glasses
I think if Nick didn't have those sleeves, he'd catch a lot less Hell. It's that bid for unearned hipness that tats imply, I think, that gets under so many people's skins.
Lettuce on a cheese steak?
What's the bar and sandwich shop on the boardwalk with money stuck to the walls? I had a good time in there. Went in for a sandwich and met a group of ladies on a divorce holiday party. Had some drinks, swapped stories. Lady insisted on giving me a well-worn 2 dollar bill I still have 10 years later. And a lighter from a fire station they gave me. I gave some trinkets back too I think. Don't know if we stuck any money on the wall, probably a dollar, think there was enough. They had estimated the value of dollars stuck to the wall and it was thousands but obviously unusable.
I'm from England by the way so I was extra fortunate to enjoy the experience.
It's Bills Gyros. Real Greek geek...
@@tomjones5650 yes that sounds right! Thank you! Hope it's still going strong. I got a Philly Cheese from there, was pretty good after several beers and a few shots with the laaaadies! I enjoyed visiting Atlantic City and other places I've been in the good ol US of A too. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
