      i had my dryer vent all set up nice and tidy no leaks. …BUT had to get a broken fridge out and new one in. this required taking the dryer out first.
      now if only ALL manf would just agree to place the vent out of the dryer at the exact same spot. mine is center. hole in the wall it to the right as you look at the wall. only about 12-14 inches. move the dryer over back door is blocked.

    Hey! I installed the metal/magnet one of these a few months ago, and yes, it's worth every penny. It made connecting the dryer to the pipe so very very easy. Another reason I installed it was because here in freezing cold northern Maine, keeping the cold from getting into the vent pipe and all the way into the dryer compartment when not in use seemed important. I simply slip a thin piece of plastic card between the magnets, and it stops any cold air right at the wall, but the magnets are strong enough to keep it sealed.

    Just installed a Magvent in my home and it works very well. One caution though. If there is an offset between the dryer outlet and the wall hole by more than three inches the install is more difficult. Meaning if the two holes do not exactly line up by more than 3 inches the flexible hose may kink. or not reach.

    Wouldn’t the temperature of the dryer make magnet reduce its strength? Depending on the Curie temperature of the magnet, and how much heat is reaching at the meet point, it can lose its magnetic ability permanently. Even the heat doesn’t reach to Curie temperature, over time being exposed to heat frequently it can lose its magnetic ability to the point where it doesn’t hold up.

  • @ghostridergale
    @ghostridergale 10 месяцев назад +4

    First of all, never ever use that flexible dryer vent hose. It’s actually a fire hazard and many people have learned that the hard way with having fires that started in their dryer vent.
    Your dryer lent builds up on all those ridges inside the dryer vent hose and left unchecked that lint can build up badly enough to completely close off the vent and the heat will build up in the hose till it catches fire.
    You should always use a metal vent pipe with an elbow if needed. Straighter you can keep your vent pipe the better. You want to avoid running vent pie up the wall as much as possible. I have seen some people have their vent hose running from the floor to ceiling and especially using that flax hose you’re asking for nothing but trouble! I’m a contractor, so I have seen many of these issues where there was fires and the hose needed remodeling afterwards. Please don’t risk it, even a fire in these hoses could cause lost of life if not caught quickly enough!

      That is a great tip for everyone! The hose that we use is actually DryerFlex from a company called Innovate and is the only UL2158A approved hose on the market. Thank you for helping spread knowledge on fire safety when it comes to dryer venting.

    Would this one work if the dryer vent is in the floor?

    Great product but duct is too short for some. I need at least three feet to vent.

      The flex is always an option :) you can use your own hose and make it as long as you need!

    I got duct tape on mine and I'm good with that. this seems like a lot of work for not a lot of gain.

      I would give it a try. Duct tape tends to get brittle over time

      @@FixThisHouse This is true. fair enough. I have to replace my dryer in a couple of years anyway so I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

    Thank you, one quick comment, you never show how the dryer side hose connects to the magnet side for those that would like to see it.

  • @chrisgraham2904

    The magnetic dryer vent disconnect is a good solution for anyone moving their dryer on a regular basis, but the flexible, foil style of dryer duct should never be used. These "lint trappers" are responsible for the majority of dryer fires. Always install a rigid galvanized steel or aluminum dryer vent pipe for the shortest run possible, which will automatically clear itself of any lint that manages to bypass the dryer's exhaust filter. A quality installation of 8 feet or less will never accumulate lint and will require no maintenance.
