    Bison's backthrow is the single best throw in any street fighter game. Although it has never looked better than it did in SFEX, I'm happy he has it back in SF6.

      The finish animation of Bison's (Lv.3) Knee Press Nightmare was also first presented on Street Fighter EX.
      I got a little surprised this reference was not pointed out in the video.
      I would wish some of Blanka's supers from EX could be re-used in other games too, but they was just ignored. 😩
      Only Dhalsim's Yoga Legend was re-used from EX to SVC Chaos.

      It's actually the CvS _1_ run. Capcom created run animations for all the characters in CvS but did not implement them in the arcade version. INstead, you could turn it on in the Dreamcast version, and the running in that game was _crazy_ fast (probably why they didn't bother to implement it, because they probably thought it was too good; in retrospect, given that it likely would have been tied to SNK Groove, they should have let it rock since it would have made the Grooves more balanced). They actually slowed down the running by a _lot_ in CvS2.
      SF6 Bison's Drive Rush speed is basically how fast his Dreamcast CvS1 run was (and Chun-li and Vega were even faster!).

  • @calcutlass

      Dunno how i missed this. I just tested it out, and its such a sick feature design of this character. It made me relook at his other taunts. I knew his back+taunt could hit someone, but i didn’t know it was activated based on proximity to the opponent. If you are too far away he holds his fist in position until they walk close enough to get punched. And its unblockable.

    • @carlosaugusto9821
      @carlosaugusto9821 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@MusicoftheDamned Yeah SF EX is important for a good number of things, including some big and some small ideas that became influential on other games. And it's a significant symbolic achievement when we realize that it's the game made by the genius who made SF2. He left Capcom, made his own company Arika, and kinda ironically ended up making the "3d SF" (2.5d). So it feels like the "major" progression of the franchise post SF2, and it was good that the project was put in the right hands.
      Secondly, in many aspects SF EX did things better than SF3, that is the true sequel... especially with roster and music. Like, SF EX even became a solid example to argue with SF3 fanboys who refuse to admit critical flaws in the SF3 newcomer roster and then shift its faults to other factors: EX has a lot of interesting newcomers who didnt make people very angry about replacing some veterans. They were simply more inspired ideas, the EX designers were more competent than the SF3 designers. Like, i could bet that in an alternative timeline where Arika's designers worked on SF3 and made all those chars like Blair, D. Dark, Skullomania, etc, the critics about the removed veterans would be less harsh (because people know deep down that types like Honda, Blanka, Balrog, etc arent masterpieces of creative design).

    Bison has 2 secret taunts: the first one is where you press forward taunt during a psycho mine plant and you’re capable of extending the timer on it past its normal duration.
    The 2nd is his back taunt if someone gets close to him he throws an unblockable that knocks down but does no damage. This attack can’t hit armor but registers as a hit so it triggers counters like scutum.

      Extremely skilled 3d artists. Same thing about the Bandai Namco devs who converted Akuma and Geese to Tekken and Haohmaru to Soul Calibur. But in comparison, the 3d skills in SNK are still tiers below Capcom and Bamco and it must not be counted in that elite status, despite its solid legacy. Hopefully there are good improvements on SNK's 3d skills in the near future, because all those franchises deserve much better.

  • @dewbuon
    @dewbuon 7 месяцев назад

    Man this is a really great showcase for how much better the animation has gotten for sf6. A lot of little things I never noticed until seeing them side by side
    0:50 No longer freezing the opponent in the air in a generic damage animation, we have a lot of specific animations for specific attacks landing
    1:13 Again I never had any problems with these animations before, but the amount of physicality that SF6 adds really enhances how these feel. Before it was always two extra kicks and a flip off them, now we can see how he kicks their legs down bringing them to their knees and using that to prop himself up so he can drop kick them in the face. I LOVE this change to the animation it feels so much more disrespectful
    1:32 The gap between his hand and the characters face has been lessened significantly, the camera angle helps to hide it too
    3:43 They FINALLY improved his idle animation so much. Now he looks like he's keeping his raised fist ready, loose but focused, instead of jerking off some invisible ghost! Seriously look at that SVC animation. I feel like every game since SF2 animators were trying to make sense of what he's doing while idling. This is the first game where his idle animation actually looks sensible

    Still to this day I'm convinced that the #1 coolest SF track there has ever been is Bison's OG SF2 bell track.

    There's an additional reference to Bisons animations along with many of his traits that come directly from Raoh from Fist of the North Star
    Specifically at the end of his SF6 lvl 2 where it's a reference to ending Raoh's fight with Rei, plunging his finger into his chest as his body dangles

    00:56 I can't believe you didn't put SF:EX as the reference of his Knee Press Nightmare. That was the very first rendition of him kicking you in the face as the ender. 3:10 Cycloid Gamma and Shadow Geist also had that stomp attack first.

    I just wanted throw out some trivia and mention that Bison's black and gold alt @3:55 is a reference to his secret boss palette in arcade mode in Street Fighter EX3 (2000) as opposed to being a direct reference to SvC: Chaos (2003) 🤓

    Desk I got a question - so is it that you just have immense fighting game knowledge so you can go "oh this 3 hit air string is the same in SF6 as it is in SF4, CVS2, EX and SF2" or do you just have so much time and patience that you go "welp, new character, time to crack open every game he's ever been in and see what matches.."

      Yeah, Bison running at you is already terrifying, not that it will ever really happen in _CvS2_ due to A-Groove being his crack, but he might as well teleport over to you in this game even before how abusable "scissor kicks" currently are.
