We need a G rap Premiere as well...
@@MrMuis06 snapple facts...
It would be certified Gold! Just thinking about this sounds like a Classic.
It would probably sound like illmatic
Ra really had us start saying "Peace" as a greeting and departure.. blessings to the God MC
And What up God, I’m bout to jet, the lab, calling the way you rhyme your flow along with so many others…smh
@@Johnelilopez absolutely. Defined our whole lexicon
I’m still saying “peace” to this day
Father Allah had “us” the true and living 5%ers of nations of gods and earths had US saying peace. Make sure u champion this
@@QstormtheGod For sure!!!
I'm 52 and can remember that times. For me this still is the shit. Word is bond!
Rakim stands on the level of brotherly love. Enlightenment.
Rakim was before my time, I'm 29. But as a hip hop head I had to go back and see what folks was talking about, hearing his music and understanding that he was one of the first to do what he does so well in terms of rhyme schemes and flows, I instantly became a fan. I understand why he is regarded as the god MC garnering respect from even West Coast and South Legends. I still bump paid in full and I ain't no joke like it just came out lmfao. Don't count us youngins out, although we weren't able to experience the impact, some of us can see it, even in the rappers of today who were clearly inspired by the God 🙏
I was more a Big Daddy Kane fan at that time. He was ahead of his time as well. I thought his flow was even more effortless than Rakim's, personally.
Thattaway to do the knowledge! We need more students of the culture!
Rakim is hands down my number one MC of all time.
Him and KRS!!
"The 18th Letter" is my favourite Rap Album of all time. Rakim' s flow, the delivery, his rhyme patterns and the whole production is second to none! Long live the GOD MC 🙏🫅🏾!!!
Yeah man that’s a masterpiece
I'm quite young so correct if I'm wrong but The 18th Letter and The Master are SO SO underrated as albums.
@@dopeyrelaxingsounds8607I seriously respect you king 🤴
@@vernonjohnson1198 Thank you.
@@dopeyrelaxingsounds8607 it’s all good king 🤴 💰💰💰💰💰💰
Ill part about it he was a teenager that revolutionized the culture. He set the bar high..that's why he's your favorite rapper's favorite rapper. He shifted a whole consciousness sprinkling Godbody speech in his raps. Cause he wasn't the first but he was just that dude that pushed the spotlight and interest level up 1000%. Gotta give him his roses now.
IT JUST WARMS MY HEART TO SEE 2 LEGENDS CHOP IT UP AND GIVE EACH OTHER LOVE LIKE THEY DID.THATS WHY THEY STILL ARE SO RELEVANT IN HIP HOP/RAP.
I’m 51 years young now….been playing RAKIM ALLAH since 1987 and still rate FOLLOW THE LEADER as a top 3 all time hip hop album, alongside PE IT TAKES A NATION OF MILLIONS & NAS ILLMATIC
i'm 26 year old hiphop head from the Indian Himalayas. RAKIM my top 5 of all time.
👊🏾
@@Advaitamanta sir, I’ll be in the Himalayas (Nepal) this year to attempt a summit of ISLAND PEAK
U been playing RAKiM since 87⁉️⁉️ where was u in 86, when RAKiM dropped the President Mix⁉️⁉️⁉️
@@cld_crush_brthers_ultra_ma60 hahahaha, in 86, I was blasting MELLE MELL, KOOL & THE GANG, STEVIE WONDER, MARVIN, CASH CREW, LL…..
Can't ignore how much thought and energy Rakim put in his music and even when speaking about the music.
the best producer and the best mc of all times !!! word !!!
FACTS! CarFACTS!
True, 100%
Facts fam...
I can't understand why they haven't made a album yet. It would be an all time classic
Without a doubt!!!
I don't know why but listening to this interview has me emotional for some reason, but im a good way. It's great to see the two best at what they do bug out over the other. Rakim is the best ever. I'm glad I was able to see he and Eric B. reunion tour.
You too!!!???
The God MC changed my view of hip hop
let the rhythm hit em album is a masterpiece 5 mic
Facts!!!!
The Source certainly thought so when they gave it that 5 back in 90. I bump that masterpiece to this day.
Absolutely. Ra’s flow and wordplay was God level 7 on that project.
@@MrCbwTVRa reached his peak with that album but Follow The Leader had some powerful joints that lyrically reigned Supreme at the time.
What I love about Let The Rhythm Hit Em, Ra was able to branch out and tell more stories and broaden his subject matter while still giving bars and flow while dominating lyrically.
Rakim did his thing. He killed it. One of the greatest. Primo killed it too. They paved the way. No one could follow or copy rakims ish!
Rakim and Dj Premier.... they are last bosses in rap game :-)
I was lucky enough to see Rakim a couple years ago, House of Blues in San Diego. What an awesome performance! I’d like to thank Marley Marl and Magic on WBLS for introducing Rakim and Eric B to me with “As the Rhyme Goes On.” I was hooked ever since!
Saw him 2019 right before the pandemic... him and Kane... blessed by the God MC
MY FAVORITE MC @THEGODRAKIM AND MY FAVORITE PRODUCER @DJPREMIER!!! Saw Rakim in Orlando and what a honor to meet him. Told him he is my favorite MC and named my son after him, he was honored!!!
Two Music Legends paying respect and showing love to one another unashamedly. Preem didn't hesitate to not only thank Rakim for his years of excellence and continued masterful skills but he also told Ra he was his all time favorite of every Emcee he ever worked with. That is a mega huge compliment. Rakim told Preem that he personifies Hip Hop and that it was amazin working with him but also an honor to be on his tracks. The best part of seeing this incredible interview by my two all time favs was the love they showed one another. Two musical geniuses that gave it and continue to give it their all. Black Excellence 💯
This was good to see Rakim and DJ Premier sitting down chopping it up Dope.
This was the most incredible interview - conversation I ever heard in my life in regards to Rakim. Preemo really did the R justice on this one. Hail to master Rakim!
Best Rakim interview EVER!!!!!!
Rakim sounded 90’s in 87 ‘88.. and Premier , you are hip-hop.. I am 52 , 1st generation hip hop .. Premier , you are Hip-Hop !!!!!

We needed this...Thanks PREME&RAKIM...We need at Least an EP
I appreciate all Hip hop. These brothers is that. That Raw style Making you feel the punch and scuffle with the lyrical integrity at an all time high. The story of our lives. Stomping through the big city walkman tapes stack in your backpack...headed to the ball courts. The vibes was real back then. There's nothing like that as we've grown, but even as top 5 hip hop Rakim can still spit with the best of them. Mind myself that i have a lot to do catching up but it will get done. Dj Premier you guys are portraits that belongs in the Smithsonian.
Peace Gods.
Preemo and the God Rakim 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Flow stay submerged in the fountain of youth
Rakim the God my favorite of all time ain't no goat like the goat Rakim Peace Beloved
A full Lp from Preem and the 18th letter, the microphone professor is what we need! Much love and respect
Already done and it was wack.
@@EvidenceBasedMedsin They never did a full album. 😂😂😂
@@Armando316 I concede, you’re correct. Yet the three songs they did( reread the liner notes) were not good and I believe no one can produced or wants to produce for Ra because he’s not mainstream. Check?
@@EvidenceBasedMedsin I guess it’s all personal taste, but I thought the songs they did on the 18th Letter were dope. And Militia on the Gangstarr
album was sick as well as Classic with KRS and Nas.
@@Armando316 not disputing DJ Premier as a dope producer. I’m not sold on the two as a solo project. I don’t automatically give trophies in hip hop, if it’s wack, it’s wack.
LEGENDARY HIPHOP MOMENT 🙏🏿💎💎💎💎
Rakim is actually a dope producer and a decent dj...
Rakim & DJ Premier are two all-time greats. They should do an album together one day. Great interview with info I never knew about. Positive vibes only!
These 2 brothers....these Gods, are part of the reason this is my culture. From 87 till forever. Fantastic interview. Salute Preem, and the one and only 18th Letter. Hip Hop forever!
1986 Harlem, That Whole Summer Thats All You heard Was Melody & President . Every car , Boom Box never forget that.Real Talk!
This was a great conversation with two of Hip-Hop's Gods!
... And we STILL wanna know when the album's coming out!

YO shout out to Premo for this one. I was getting chills every time you played RaKims joints.Dope interview.
Every Beat has turned into a Classic🔥
Please let the guy know that let the rhythm hit them as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all
This right here is one of the dopest episodes on Premo's channel! I learned so much just listening to Premo and Rakim going back and forth!
"My Melody" & "Eric B. Is President" changed Hip-Hop! Summer '86! Magical moment!
I still hold the tape of 'My Melody' that I'd recorded from the radio when it'd premiered that summer.
@@d33j4ybf Damn! That's Dope! You holding Hip-Hop treasure! I heard it first with somebody banging that shit out a brownstone on my block. Sounded like some Alien 👽 shit it was so different and incredibly dope!
@@chadoworld
I'm with you on that, as I'd never heard ANYONE spit like that before then, and this was the summer of 'Raising Hell,' so the airwaves were nearly dominated by my beloved Run-DMC, so it was like The God had slipped in under the wire or some shit!
@@d33j4ybf That's a fact! Run-DMC was crushing the globe 🌎 around that time too!
There are two versions of My Melody that only Marley played. Both of them had a different phatter 808 kick. I've always wanted a clean version of this:
ruclips.net/video/Ldj92ld6ZTA/видео.html
And the track version of it where Marley has the soundtrack from the movie "Halloween" playing with an eerie reverb on it and he's also scratching Biz Markie's voice.

Dope DJ Premier and Rakim 🔥🔥💣💣💣🎧🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🌎🚀😎
it was summertime 1986 in Brooklyn, and Ra was on the airwaves...the whistle intro on my melody had us instantly hooked!
Oh my god, this is so amazing. Crazy inspirational, and the way them 2 talking about the culture, could listen for days to this
The moment u talked about the pete rock joint saga continues, maaan, u gotta make a pr video, its a MUST! This is so bananas
Rakim 4 ever, that voice, his style.

This was monumental. I didn't comment on the other shows, because I was at work. But this series is so dope. Never heard Ra be so candid in an interview. Word...
It’s so cool to hear him talk like this. He must be really comfortable with Premo, because he usually has his guard up
A legend interviewing a legend.
Preem and Rakim are hip hop legends. Mouth Rushmore of the game.
Rakim is seriously the greatest of all time period
Yessir. I been watching the joint wit large pro everyday since it dropped.
Waiting For The World To End by Rakim is one of my favorite songs
Rakim is a pioneer of lava-like flows and lyrical erudition, while Premier's production is point-perfect, so Please- Rakim and Premier collaborate on an up-and-coming guaranteed Gold masterpiece album!
No! The first was wack!!!
@@EvidenceBasedMedsin The hell are you talking bout? There is no Rakim Premo album. There's Royce and Preme. There's Mc Eiht and Preme. There is NO RAKIM PREMO ALBUM.
@@PrimeGalvatron I concede. I reread the 18th Letter liner notes. No Preemo/Rakim album, yet the songs he made with Preem, were not good so for me, I had no desire to hear Rakim and Preem all these years.
It’s not a heart attack my guy. Relax!
@@PrimeGalvatron It's not a past album I'm referring to, it's some of the joints Premier had Rakim rock over, the type of production that complimemts Rakim's style and cadence. Besides, news on the street is, Rakim and DJ Jazzy Jeff are collaborating on a new project.
Not sure if it's a full album, but if it's a mix, DJ Premier would be a good fit, as would Marco Polo.
CLASSIC TIMES that was dope with Preemo' Rakim, Kanye and Nas !!
I LOOOOOVED THIS, PREEMO ! THIS is such a FIYAH IDEA, for U to be shootin' the breeze with your fellow HIPHOP LEGENDS ! This is fucking MONUMENTAL. Peace to MY FAVORITE PRODUCER - PREMIER & MY FAVORITE EMCEE - RAKIM ALLAH.
