Honestly given the consistently high overall production quality of his videos, Mads' sponsors are getting a pretty good deal, too. And no worries about their products being shown with anything less than good workmanship.

    • @WreckDiver99
      @WreckDiver99 6 лет назад

Still, with only 45K subscribers, and unknown number of "viewers" that's pretty impressive. I know channels with more viewers (150K~250K) that have very high quality productions and workmanship that just don't get anything without a positive review of the product, therefore they turn them down. Others want and advertisement when supplied with the product. This is fine for a SOLICITED request for product (i.e., He West Systems, please supply me with all my products needed). From what I could tell, they reached out to him and said "hey Mads, here, have some product". For his size channel, that's not all that common...not with the hundreds of dollars of stuff he was given that can't just be "returned" when done (i.e., tool reviews, computer equipment, etc.).
Not dishing Mads at all...He has definitely been able to bring himself to the attention of some good companies...more so than others of even larger channel sizes.

Ah, the memories! Way back in the 80's, I repaired my (nearly new) Ron Holland designed 25 foot yacht. I was extremely fortunate to be living in Adelaide, South Australia, at the time, which "suffers from" extrermerly dry summer heat rolling from the desert interior of the country to the west. I was also fortunate to be able to store the yacht inside a disused shipbuilding shed, complete with mast still erect.
After grinding away the osmosis-affected gelcoat and substrate, we left the yacht in the shed to "bake" in temperatures of up to the low 40's. Then began the tedious process of adding multiple coats of epoxy mixed with microscopic glass spheres (avoiding micro-balloons to ensure an impenetrable surface), intersperced with seemingly endless fairing. Eventually, the many coats of epoxy were supplemented by several barrier coats of stuff (technical term for long-forgotten product name) designed to protect navigation buoys, primer/umdercoat and then antifouling.
I wish I had access to West Systems information at the time, but I did gain confidence that the hull was no longer going to suffer from osmosis.

Your soooooo freaking lucky with sanding mate.
I had a boat gale once.
    Few and far between.
    Boat gales....
    Single sailor here.
    1968 model.
    Salty.
    Heavily sailed.
    Mostly broken.
    In need of superficial repairs.
    But stable with good bones.
    Paid for .
    No outstanding bills.
    Cruise ready.
Sailor retired to trawler cruising inland Florida to outer banks .
    Seasonal
    Travel with the seasons.
Ex sailor with open mind to go back to sailing maybe.
    Trawler is so plush.
    Fresh bottom.
    So nice.
    Throw me a line.
    Great video.
    Thanks for it.

What a team! You guys remind us both how we tackled our major refits on two boats in the past. The planning the setting up and the application (And the sanding ??? !!). Working together with a common goal and seeing real progress at the end of a shift. We did a big clean on Impavidus today (we are in a cheap marina in Portugal for a couple of days) . Working as a team just like you guys we got the top sides washed and jetted off, the hull above the water line washed and polished, the cabins hoovered and finally the clothes washed and hung out to dry. Sitting with a nice glass of red watching your vid, we had a smile. When you find someone that wants to share the way you guys do, take our advice, grab them with both hands and never let go! 35 Years on we still share the ups and downs of sailing life and would not change a thing!!! Safe sailing. Ant & Cid xx

Nice Video. I just recently paid a crew to do pretty much what you'll be doing (minus all the added fiberglass) to my bottom. I didn't have blisters (well, not precisely true, There were about ~20 previously patched blisters, and 1 new one. No the problem my bottom had was that someone had hauled it out previously, given it a quick pressure-wash and just painted new anti-fouling over the old coats without sanding and prepping the surface. The result was (x years later) my bottom was flaking anti-fouling off before I bought it and when the guys I paid to re-paint my bottom started sanding back the old paint, they discovered old sea growth in-between layers of anti-fouliing.... So I shelled out about 3X what I originally thought I would be paying, and had them sand all the way back to gel-coat, then re-barriered the entire bottom and put on new anti-foul. I can't be certain, but one has to wonder if the poor job on a previous anti-foul was encouraging blistering. Likely not, but ocean chemistry can do stranger things.
