  • Timebase (Sweep) selection with respect to waveform presentation is the focus of this segment.
    The Fnirsi DSO 152 is the demonstration platform.
    Apologies if I am butchering the pronunciation of the manufacturers name 😁

    the most basic instruction on the most basic oscilloscope
    there is a need for this and good on you Ian for trying to fill it

      Thx Denis. Scopes have long been stigmatized as big money tools that only the shop geek could operate. We both know that in this day and age, nothing could be further from the truth. I honestly believe products like this have the potential to redefine “basic tools” that should be in every Techs box. The challenge is in changing perceptions. Credit to Fnirsi for producing a tool that takes simplification to the extreme. Cheers Denis. Hope all is well 👍

    I'm a auto tech getting into scoping, these videos have been amazing! Using this before I get a U scope & a Pico. Keep up the great work, videos have been very helpful. I look forward to more scope content!

      Yeah no worries. I hate technicians pretending they’re some kind of super tech because they have a scope. There’s no magic, just another tool. Thx again for watching 🍻

    Love that 20v/20mS tip. I did a crank and int/exh cam corelation with my hantek 1008 and 20mS gave me the capture i needed👍

      Thx Matt. Simple memory joggers work well for me, perhaps others may find it useful. In re-watching the video maybe I harped on a wee bit too long on that analogy. Oh well…Repetition is the Mother of retention, I’m told 🤣 Cheers M8 👍

    Nice overview. Wondering why the line is jittery if this is a DC battery. Is the device picking up stray RF? … or related to the duty cycle turning on & off, therefore showing a voltage drop.

    Can this fnirsi device also do signal generating outputs for testing sensors like temperature or ABS etc.

      Thx for watching. The DSO-152 (in this video) doesn’t have a signal generator. The DSO-153 (about $20 more expensive) does have signal generation facility. I think peak output voltage is 3.3V. There is a couple of brief comparison videos of the 2 models on the channel if you’re interested.🍻

    I bought one to test the low res pulse on a 1995 lt1 opti spark , how do i know whick lead to use. It uses a .5 volt reference. Appreciate your videos they are great , i know very little about these scopes. Thanks.

    • @TheGibby3340
      @TheGibby3340  10 дней назад

      Ground the black lead, red lead to the contact you’re interested in capturing a trace from. If the amplitude you’re expecting is only 0.5V, start with 2V volt & 20ms scaling that should get you an image. Adjust voltage & timebase to optimize the trace as required. Good luck & thx for watching 🍀🍻

      @TheGibby3340
      Thank you for your time , I was able to see the opti is working. My issue is the fuel injectors are being pulsed be the PCM , but they are not spraying fuel. Fuel pressure is good , injectors are new. I'm able to click injectors manually with a 9v battery and jumper lead. I think the fuel cut off side of the VATS will not allow the injectors to spray. Someone already pit a resistor in the starter engage side of VATS but the BCM and PCM are not allowing the injector side of VATS to spray. Only option is to have VATS remover totally from PCM. Thank you.

      @TheMrmmkkpro I have no idea of the architecture of the system you are working on,but…Most systems are ground side switched. Make sure the power side voltage is present. Also load test the line with a reasonable wattage test light, if the supply circuit is compromised (high resistance) it may not carry required current to operate the injectors. 🍀🍻

    Can you pause the capture and zoom in after or not supported function

    • @TheGibby3340
      @TheGibby3340  6 месяцев назад

      No zoom or pause. The trace can be held on screen only via the “Stop” function.
      “Zooming” is only possible by selecting amplitude & timebase settings pre-capture. But I think these limitations are acceptable in a $20 scope. Thx for watching. 🍻

    The reason I'm showing voltage is less than the battery was that the full scale display of the instrument was less than the voltage you were attempting to measure.It was showing the maximum voltage you could measure with that sensitivity setting.
