My favorite part of the series is that it brings up a lot of important issues. Like Percy literally telling the Gods “ur shit parents, fix it” and then later having cabins for all the minor Gods so that not everyone is stuck in Hermes cabin and they can be claimed by their Godly parent. Percy actually looks for ways to fix things and even though he makes mistakes, like not making sure Calypso gets off the island (which I can’t even really fault him for bc right after the last Olympian he loses his memory and stuff bc of Hera💀), and this is what makes me like this series, and all of ricks books, better than Harry Potter. Bc harry literally becomes part of the system, basically a wizard cop, and we never see any change in the HP books regarding how muggles, half-bloods, and house elves are treated. But Percy literally turns down immortality, and doesn’t want to be a part of the issue hes trying to fix.
I've never read the Percy Jackson books but I'm genuinely so tempted to go and read them all for the first time as an adult now.
PLEASE TELL ME YOU DID
Please do!
Percy Jackson is literally my life line
Me too 😅‼️💯
i remember rereading the percy jackson series in 4 days too - during the pandemic. it gave me all the warmth i needed too!
We all need to keep our inner child alive. Don't forget, a new Percy Jackson universe book is out! The Sun & the Sat, about Will and Nico! I can't wait to read it!
Yess!! I've been reading the Riordan Presents books this spring while I go through a tough time. Middle grade/YA with the heart and passion and learning about different cultures is too good!!
I just re-read this series last year! I love hearing people talk about it because I feel like it flys under the radar. Hopefully it gains momentum with the younger kids agin since the HBO show is coming out soon. I’m also so excited for percy and the chalice of the gods that is the OG 3 back together again.
If you haven’t read Fourth Wing yet you should! I just pleasantly surprised by it. Probably the most entertaining well rounded book I’ve read this year.
ahh so glad to see you read this series, it's one of my favorites!!
Loved this video!! I am finishing the Heroes of Olympus Series at the moment! So I am prepared for the two new books and the series coming out next year. I am super hyped for The Sun and The Star! How is everyone feeling about this new tv series?
I literally finished the newest book, The Sun and The Star this morning. I have spent the past year and a half rereading all the Riordan universe. The greatest choice ever!
I love Moomins ❤️ I was introduced to them when I was studying in the UK and met my new bestie, who’s half-Finnish and has a huge Moomin mug collection, books, and all sorts of memorabilia. And now, almost twenty years later, Moomins are intertwined with so many good memories of friendships and travels.
I was too old when PJ first came out and busy with grad school, but your vlog has bumped the series up on my TBR. My little sibling did read and love the series when they were little, so it will be fun to chat once I’ve read them ❤️
Moomins! ❤ I'm from Finland like the author of the original Moomin books Tove Jansson who was real artist, feminist and a queer icon. I'm so happy to see Moomins featured here so suprisingly.
Excellent time to reread with book 6,Chalice of the Gods, coming out in September 🥰
First, I loved this reading vlog. I haven't read the series since it came out, either. Second, you made me feel so old when you said you were in middle school when they came out. I already had two kids (the oldest is probably your age) when I read them 😂😂😂. I definitely need a reread now! And I totally agree with you about the covers, I almost regret giving away my original copies when the boxed set came out, but they did go to a good home, so there are no true regrets.
this series is my partner’s childhood favorite and i am currently on the last book of the heroes of Olympus after reading them for the first time. genuinely, this has been my favorite series to read and it has grabbed and moved me in SO MANY ways. i will never not recommend these books.
I literally teared up when you saying what series you were reading and why because this series means so much to me as well 😭
I also started re-reading Percy Jackson a week ago. I’m done the first 3 books so far but taking a break to read Six of Crows after getting obsessed with the Shadow and Bone series on Netflix
Yay Moomins! When I was little my mum had a Swedish pen friend who sent us gifts and often Moomin stuff included in those. I'm glad to see them around again 💕
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS VLOG!!!! I love PJO so much and rereading it was such a good decision. I’d recommend rereading Heroes of Olympus too, weirdly it was the book series i had forgotten the most!
If you are in need of a funny podcast, there is a Percy Jackson one called The Newest Olympian!
You took me back to my childhood 🥹
Percy Jackson 🤝 Babysitters club: having a long ass story
I had not realize the series was actually that long.
Easy to forget how fast little books add up when you've gotten into the habit of reading longer books.
Based on the receipt I found in The Last Olympian, I haven't read them since 2011.
I'm so glad that you really enjoyed the books again!
OMG what an exciting sponsorship! I absolutely adore the Moomin cartoon from the 90s. I desperately want to watch the show in it's entirety, but I can't find the last 10-15 episodes anywhere 😭 if anyone has any info about that, please let me know!
I never read Percy Jackson but it sounds interesting!
Out of sheer coincidence, I just started The Lightning Thief this week for the first time!🎉
Okay I’ll take this as a sign it’s time for me to reread Percy Jackson! It’s been years since I first read them so I was thinking about it recently and this video is perfect timing! 😊
I love the Percy Jackson series! I've been meaning to reread the series, hopefully I will be able to soon.
I re-read the first 3 books last year i'll definitely continue my re-read this year 😊

This video is making me want to read Percy Jackson!
I’ve never read this series 😂never heard of it till a couple of years ago when the movie came out
Oooo the onigiri at Sugar Pine are very good
I have never read Percy Jackson 😅 based on your vlog, I can see why it is so popular though
So I really enjoy young adult books, but I've had a hard time getting into middle grade as an adult. For example, I read Elatsoe a couple years ago, and there was genuinely nothing wrong with the book, but I had a hard time connecting because it felt too... juvenile. And before someone says it was the lack of romance, I read it because I myself am asexual, so that was no problem!
I was wondering if it's because I didn't really read middle grade even as a kid, except Harry Potter... but then I remembered that I was OBSESSED with Animorphs when I was little. Too little. That series is a commentary on the brutality of war and that shit was INTENSE when I was like six years old, lol. So I feel like it wasn't a 'normal' middle grade series?
Anyhow. I missed the boat on Percy Jackson because it came out when I was a little too old. And now middle grade doesn't really appeal to me. Aaand I have a degree in Classical Studies so I worry that any inaccuracies about ancient Greece will piss me off, lol. But I'm wondering if I should try anyway. It's such an important series to so many people. And I'm very fond of a good retelling of ancient myth. I dunno.
I think your video might be tipping the scales. I'm going to have to check it out.
Are you going to read The sun and the star? It’s a Nico pov book that just came out
Hmm.. guess I'm due a reread too, it's been awhile!
will you be reading heroes of olympus? x
Have you read the new book. Also there is another one coming out Percy Jackson and the chalice of the gods.
I always wanted to read Percy Jackson books since forever but I don’t do well with reading MG books. I would try read one but i’m afraid I would put them on the side and never pick them again like I did with other MG books I tried to read. Should I try the audiobooks?
I love this series so much 💜💜💜💜💜
Made me reread the books again.
What is the name of that literary fiction labyrinth retelling you mentioned? It sounds interesting
l'm so excited video book
I still have to read book 5 ☹️
