In Cambodia, it's called Sa Om. In Thailand, it's called Cha Om. Both are the same thing. Actually, they are leaves of a kind of tree. This vegetable has a distinc smell. Some people don't like it. Most people use it to make omelet as you have seen. Most rural people eat vegetable found nearby their homes. You saw a person in a pawn picking vegetable, water lilly? That's an example of vegetable that they find around their house.
That dirt road is just like the way my road was and I am 32 kilometers from PP. Yes the poor people are happy and they are willing to help you and share their food.
Laos and Cambodia and Myanmar all suffered from the wars so badly...A lot of the lands are having land mines and bombs underneath...Hope one day the bombs can all be removed and the people will recover from the scars🙏🏻
The green thing they cook fried with eggs was called Climbing Wattle. It's tasty and you can also boil it to make a light stew with minced pork or beef rolled as meatball, and with a big of mushroom.

I'm from China, by watching this video, it makes me recall my memory during childhood, 40 years ago I lived in the similar villiage like this video. it's really clean, natural, beautiful and amazing village, the life is simple and farmer just grow the rice and corn, you can see the dog, cow and truck everywhere. yet they are still poor but still full of funs, when I grew up, I went to the university and later work in Shenzhen for more than 20 years. everyday, I have to face the people, high-rise building and lots of work waiting for me, it's really boring. when I came back to my hometown, the village doesn't exist anymore. because the local company built a dam there, they have to reallocate the farmer to the other countryside. it's so sad.
That's risky going to rural areas what with the dangers like landmines,robbers & bandits. I'm going there in 6 weeks but staying in the main areas of course I'm adventurous but what your doing is just too much of a risk. Sounds like you had much reward & satisfaction though going to this area or community
It shocked me to find that there are people who can speak English even in the no tourists visit rural areas of Cambodia.😲I mean, in some truly remote rural areas of China, it would be amazing to find even single person who can speak English.😺 Does anyone have knowledge about that?🤔
Poisonous snakes move on top of water. And they normally move fast when they see people. Non poisonous snakes are in the water. And people eat them. You probably have seen them being sold in a market. Here's what you didn't see. If you lived through Khmer Rouge era, you know what I'm talking about. Poor peasants of Cambodia have been considered as lower class of the Cambodian society. It had been like that for a very long time. A few intellectuals came and explored those poor peasants promising a new society where there would be no more poverty, social classification, impunity, corruption etc. As you may know, those were the people who killed their own people in millions. You don't have to believe me. Do your own research. You didn't get to eat roasted snake head fish dip in a fish sauce and smashed tamarin. All ingredients are from around the house. Here's what they say. If there is water, there is fish. It's true in Cambodia.
And to think that Pol Pot was killing his people up until 1978. I was in the same region of Cambodia just this April and I visited many small rural villages
