the civilisation has its roots in ancient state of Kalinga , the most progressive state in Indian subcontinent , including a form of democracy , a rich maritim trade history, and undefeated until Ashoka. Come visit Konark (UNSCO World Heritage)
@@lawyermahaprasadWhy are you marketing India like an Afrocentric when it’s a video on Cambodia? Angkor Wat is uniquely Khmer, not Indian. It is politically a pro-monarchy leaning temple that represents the philosophical feat of monarchy winning over democracy. It also represents a tree in the middle of an island (hence the moat)-which is the same concept of the Garden of Eden story or Atlantis. Angkor Wat means the King’s Temple aka the Unique Wood.
The human mind is not properly compartmentalized. If you understand the concept of the Trinity and the Pinocchio metaphorical story, then you can instantly understand the concept of the Trinity that exists from Angkor Wat, to Angkor Thom, and to Bayon. From Unique Wood (Angkor Wat) to Unique Dominant of Two (Angkor Thom) and finally to a real boy who is infinity and Bayon (pun intended). Bayon, Banyan Tree, the mythical bayard, and beyond. Hence the many human faces of Bayon. From superstitions to philosophy. From democracy to monarchy.
When I was in 7th grade, at the end of the year my teacher showed us his videos of his trips to Cambodia to visit Angkor Wat. Since then, it's been on my bucket list. I've only visited once so far, hardly brushed the surface... But I'm still just as eager to see it once more as I was back in the early 2000s
Some fun facts about Angkor Wat. The entire temple was built by dry stone construction, meaning no mortar was used. Instead, every block was assembled using mortises and tenons - basically giant lego bricks. The blocks were lifted into place using a system of ropes, pulleys, and bamboo scaffolding. You're correct, Angkor Wat used to have color. Scholars believe the exterior used to be white while the towers were coated in gold (in fact, there are still similar gold towers in Southeast Asia today, such as the temples in Myanmar). Inside, the walls would've been painted red while the sculptures at the forefront were gilded in gold. There were also wooden structures in Angkor Wat that have since been gone such as doors, frames, crossbeams, and ceiling boards. Additionally, the moat surrounding Angkor Wat wasn't just built for show. It also served a practical purpose, stabilizing the water content of the soil on which the temple was built. Without the moat, the soil would have fluctuated between being wet and dry as the seasons changed, which would've destabilized the ground, causing the massive temple above to collapse. Finally, you didn't do it here, but the chambers at Angkor Wat actually create a certain echo sound when you beat your chest while standing in them. The sound only generates by pounding your chest, not by clapping your hands or hitting the chamber walls. Pretty neat. Just some interesting facts!
I never thought an LGBTQ couple would be my favorite travel vloggers! (for reference, my other favorite is "Bags Packed Family"). Thank you for the real, relatable, kind, unaffected and grateful vibes. Stay true! Wish you both the best....
I was there last month. In the famous "worth seeing" vs "worth travelling to see" Angkor Wat is definitely in the latter group. It's vast and impressive, and very atmospheric. Siem Reap is a nice place to hang out (trying not to use the word cool as the weather is anything but) and I really enjoyed my week there. Could well return for an extended stay.
Angkor Wat is magical and mythical temple. The carving and the architecture is beyond human comprehension. I love it, been there many times but never get tired of going there, very tranquil and peaceful. It’s just mind blowing, highly recommended for Angkor Wat Siem Reap and through out the Cambodia, beautiful country, not populated and definitely more room to breathe.
I'm truly excited that you visited Angkor Wat - one of the Wonders of the World. On your journey you MUST go to Bali and feel & breath the living Hindu culture.
It is better to be quiet because you will have a much calmer energy...serenity feeling. This was why the Temple was built for you to mesmerize and soaking in its beauty 🥰🥰

For my recommendation, you should have a tour guide because the history behind these buildings are amazing.
