Cambodia was the destination for the first trip with my boyfriend, who is now my husband. It was a really nice trip and left us great memory, and we love Angkor Wat, definitely worth it.

Some tourists who only spent a few days or weeks there and they complained about everything about the country. Those people always have close minded no matter where they are and they have never realized each country is not going to be the same expectation and that makes it unique about each country and its culture. Nice to see Luke and Naomi travelling a new country Cambodia. It’s one of the SE Asian countries I would love to visit too. Very rich in culture, history and food . Cambodian are very welcoming and kind people. Yes Cambodia have been through lots of hardship, wars, poverty etc… but happy to see the country slowly developing but surely doing great. Recently, I also became interested in Cambodia. I understand that the construction of the canal aided by China has started recently. I think this canal will be the key to Cambodia's development and prosperity.
China is building that canal for Cambodia, Vietnam is very upset.

Cambodia has come a long way since the prolonged civil war was officially ended in 1998.
I had to leave country in 1979 after living through Pol Pot killing madness from 1975 to 1979.
I was in my last year of my high school in Phnom Penh and our family was sent to work in the rice fields and to dig cannals in the country side. Most of them died from starvation and exhaustion.
My first returned trip from US was in 1995 when the country was officially open up to the world and tried to search for my surving family members.
The country was still in ruins then, family members were torn apart and separated.
Luckily, I found my sole surviving sister who currently still lives in Phnom Penh. I've returned to visit my sister every year for the last ten years since my retirement.
Sharing is caring as life is short to do the things we don't love doing. Be open minded and kind whenever possible.

Safe places include, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Cambodia, Vietnam are also quite safe.

You guys probably can visit Laos next then take the high speed train from Laos into China Yunnan, Xi Shuangbana. Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam have similar sad experience where the west especially USA for planting ten of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of landmine and unexploded bombs, not forgetting to mentioned about biological and chemical warfare that USA did to these countries and turn a blind eye on it. Explore more and you will see how dirty the western government and media were in the past and are doing worst now

Have heard good reviews from Western tourists who visited Cambodia. Only negative comment that I have read is that the country hasn't developed their tourist potential to the extent that they could have. Then again, perhaps that is a good thing. ( it is in my mind)

@@Wouter_asiaThe Cambodian government owns 49% of the shares of the canal, which crosses 4 provinces and covers 180w people, the construction requires a lot of local workers, there are a lot of jobs, the cost of transportation will be reduced after the completion of the canal, it is easy for farmers to export their agricultural products to save more money, and it is expected to collect 490 million US dollars a year in transit fees, so what's wrong with that?
