- A Different World is an American sitcom that is still considered one of the best Black sitcoms of the 1990s, which is fitting given its effect on pop culture. It was a spin-off of The Cosby Show and the series aired for six seasons on NBC from September 24, 1987 to July 9, 1993.
The series shows the life of students at Hillman College, a fictional historically black college in Virginia. Watching a group of friends navigate co-ed life served as a weekly reminder that young adulthood could be fun and emotional. In the same breath, it inspired millions of students to enroll in college.
Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Charnele Brown, Darryl Bell, Cree Summer and Dawnn Lewis joined the Wilmington Library located in Wilmington, Delaware to "Chop it Up" with fans about the beloved TV show "A Different World."
This was E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T!!! I cried, laughed, smiled and was very proud of them all. And proud of the audience. I'm over 70 and went to business college. But when A Different World aired I felt like I was going to an HBCU college for real. You never know who or how you impact people until they can have opportunities like this to let you know. Thanks to everyone who made this viewing possible. ❤
They can do a reboot and have them make guests appearances on the show and talk about today topics vs on the old show
A Different Word In Black & White
This is a show that they could easily reboot. New characters that do their time, move on, get a new class, etc. Black kids will continue to be in college and there is plenty of good subject matter that can be had.
It could have continued on after Dwayne and Whitley left. Degrassi The Next Generation was on for 14 years.
It could but I’m sure it would have a Heavy Agenda Push…

I don’t a need a reboot, I love everything it was and is. Just seeing them living beautifully works for me. I’m for this generation doing something inspiring for this time not constantly revisiting what’s been. While we can learn from our past let’s continue to create lasting content let’s keep moving forward. Please networks put stuff out that offers encouragement, strength, provoke change, promote friendship, family and well being. So much sex on tv dang eventually u gotta live outside the bedroom.

41:50. If Dwayne broke up the wedding, Whitley gave him the sledgehammer to do it. Remember that when the preacher asked her if she would take Byron as her husband, she hesitated. Then, she started seeing Dwayne's face on other people's bodies. She left Dwayne one last opening and he took it.
What they did with Bel-Air, they easily could do with A Different World!

I was hoping someone would ask the question since the show originated as a spin-off for Lisa on the Cosby show, if how they treated her and she left and they dropped Marissa did they think the show would get canned soon after. And if they were proud the strength of their characters were able to carry the rest of the show for numerous seasons.
