Dean is clowning around here as he always did on his shows, but in actual fact he was a pretty smooth social dancer. I think in the 1920’s - 40’s, before the invention of rock-and-roll and disco, formal ballroom dancing was the thing and I think that young people had to learn either at school or special dancing schools. And it seems that Dean was a pretty good learner - maybe it was his Italian blood!!🕺🏻
Linda Shelley - Dean was so talented and likable, that he could “mesh” or blend in with any performer who joined him on stage. He was truly flexible and handled anything thrown at him. I had forgotten the talented Juliet Prowse could sing as well as dance. I recall reading Frank Sinatra proposed to her but she declined because she didn’t want to give up her career which was, evidently, one of his requests if they married. If anyone knows this last sentence is incorrect, please jump in.

You have to be fairy good to pull off the casual dancer appearance. It's hard to be great and hard to be great and pull back your talent. I'm sure Dean could tear up the dance floor.

Bessie Knapper True fact, there was nothing I know of that Deano couldn't do and do well. I miss him, in fact I made a project of getting my now grown kids to watch these vids, haha. Now they know how well rounded some of these old stars were. I also made a Doris Day fan out of my now Marine vet son. They need to know the difference in talent and popularity for a short time.
Juliet Prowse starred in her own sit-com, "Mona McCluskey," that ared right before "The Dean Martin Show." Unfortunately Mona was cancelled April 14, 1966.
