    This is BIG! Ukraine has been (correctly) targetting Russian supply lines from the very beginning. And the only reason why the Russians didn't feel it that badly is because they essentially parked all their supplies on the border. If they'll have to move their depots and camps and repair facilities back to give more time for counter-batteries to react, that can very well be the end of any future Ukranian offensives depending on how much supply convoys they have left.

      Not likely. They had 25 years to do that. Everyone who have tried are dead, in jail or have fled the country. The remaining population are so permeated by lies about who the enemy is. They have been feed this idea that if Ukraine falls into the western sphere NATO will use it as a springboard to launch a Third Reich like attack on Russia. The current generations in Russian schools are being fed militarism, nationalism and propaganda as liberal arts education to compensate for when the old people who, was brought up with the similar education in the Soviet Union, are dead. There's no general democratic will among those who are left in Russia. They want someone who tells them to just line up and walk of the cliff. It's the only system they associate with some kinda relative stability. They believe the rest of the world is more or less the same and that democracy and election is just a front for authoritarian rule to give people a false sense of contribution. This ends when the Russian state collapses and logistically can't supply their troops anymore and therefor are physically pushed out by Ukraine or when Putin dies.

They made these 'turtle tanks' as the intended killing blow since the things actually do have jamming systems under their goofy-ass exteriors.
    Except the US was NOT de-stabilized and those shells arrived. Since russia went all in with anti-drone tech those same 'turtle tanks' don't hold up so well against artillery.

    Article is somewhat unclear, so to be clear, ATACMS are still not permitted in Russian territory. But this will likely change in the near future, as UK/France are permitting Storm Shadow strikes. It's been clear that Belgorod must be neutralized for some time. The real party will start when Ukraine gets permission to strike Rostov. Then we'll see the SE front start to fall as Russian logistics become starved.

    Artillery is also a big emphasis in Soviet doctrine because the Soviet Union placed a lot of importance on maths skills in their officers schools, the Soviet Union in a sense fetishized science in general, how do you pronounce that with the military? Through maths of course. Now what branch of the military uses a fuckload of maths? Artillery. Artillery especially before the advent of fast and compact computers required the officers to manually determine what grid square Ivan just called in to blow up, and manually calculate what the angle of their gun should be to hit the designated target. That is one of the reasons the Soviet and of course by extension the Russian military places such importance on Artillery.

    • @fuckoff4705
      @fuckoff4705 23 дня назад

      the main reason for russian overreliance on artillery is that the russian doctrine doesn't place a great emphasis on air superiority because they don't believe that they will achieve air superiority in LSCO, focussing more on air defense platforms than their air force.

    Missiles expire relatively fast by comparison to arty shells. which means they need consistent upkeep for the most part. As for the US we have 3 options for how to deal with them... (And remember we are not in war time use).
    First we can send them to be reset and have the fuel changed out to reset the clock but this is pretty costly. Second if the calendar lines up they can be used for training days for them be used by people training. Third is if we know someone can just launch them on arrival why not send them in foreign aid packages.

    On the contrary, they did get what was needed for the counter offensive. But, what we underestimated and severely, was the difficulty of canonical warfare, or standard warfare. Meaning, warfare that doesn't introduce 15000 crimes against humanity in its first day, (Looking at you Israel. Looking at you US in Iraq) - where you literally carpet bomb EVERYTHING down to gravel, reducing EVERYTHING to dust.
    Standard warfare, seemingly is much more difficult. The manpower required to take and/or take back, is costly as hell. Equipmentwise, its the same. If Ukraine ups its technological weaponry at some point on the front line, Russia will allocate resources to match it - it will never be easy for Ukraine to take anything back. Portraying the counter offensive as something rinky dink, as if it didn't have some of the most modern, high tech weaponry is a disservice to truth but also the Ukrainian (and I guess to some degree, the Russian invaders) men who lost their lives.

    I know Voosh means well, but there's some awful info in here. US is not giving any new weapon types, it's just a very narrow permission to use *some* weapons on *some* targets in Russia. For example, Ukraine can use artillery and basic HIMARS rockets (80-90KM range), but they are not allowed to use ATACMS (300km). Ukraine cannot strike airbases in Russia with US weapons. Ukraine can only attack targets in some way attacking them (you'd think this would include airbases, but no) and only over the border near Kharkiv. This is still good and helps Ukraine, and hopefully the allowances will expand, but it is NOT blanket permission.

    So Vaush says some slightly incorrect things and then kind of corrects himself later on without saying that he's correcting himself. For years USA was reluctant to give Ukraine weapons that good strike really deep into Russia. But they did eventually give them such weapons but forbade their use in internationally recognized Russian territory. Now USA has slightly let off on the leash and now says that Ukraine can strike with these USA weapons inside Ukrainian territory but not too deep inside. But still Russia is completely unrestricted and yet USA is still restricting Ukraine. Zelensky has said publicly that he wants all restrictions removed, that while this step is important, he wants no restrictions on distance from Russian border.
