  • Conrail INPI and PIHO pass while the local switches in the yard, then a westbound NS and CSX DEEX empties pass the tower at the same time, then we move to the Marion Industrial Center trackage on the east side of town where we rejoin the local.

I like, actually I prefer, to railfan in what's called "the dead season" by some. The muted sky makes the color of trains and the buildings really pop.

Always love to see Conrail GP38s and GP38-2s working. Not a common thing on tape. My favorite GP model of my favorite railroad since I was a kid many years ago.

I loved the 12 cylinder C30-7As running on conrail trackage. Not to mention, C36-7 and B36-7 units

Nice to see in this footage that the lines around marion has not changed to much with the demise of the former owners.

How did you get these shots so smooth and clean?!?

Well, these were taken with broadcast quality gear (for the early 1990s), then I use a program called Avisynth for any (visual) cleanup and deinterlacing for the web.

@@RailroadMediaArchive U18Bs were rare to see operating in the 1990s
