I have a gas ring but you can use the one on the side of your BBQ. Dont do it in the kitchen or your missus will turn you into a Eunuch..
Thanks. Just make sure you put the baring seal in the other way. I accidentally got it backwards. It still works. But but it is better the correct way.
Good rule of thumb when packing bearings is to keep doing it until small beads of grease form on the other side, this way you can almost ensure that the bearing is completely covered head to toe in grease
Thanks for this vid mate. Doing this job tomorrow. Glad I read the comments here though or I would have been so confused with the existing seal being in the wrong way ha ha
Hi free thinkers, Toyota Landcruiser 1997 disc brake rear, not drum, 80 series, you have placed the bearing hub axle seal wrong install, back to front seal rubber faces out. If you fit new bearing cones always over tighten preloaded nut to make sure cones seat properly, did not bounce off shoulder, then back off & do correct pre load on bearing.
When it comes to the inner bearing seal (thing with the lip) ive seen other put the lip out wheel you put the lip inwards. Do you know which way is correct
In this video I got it backwards. It still functions but I fid take it out about 2 months later and re install. Tip with genuine Toyota is gold side out
Hey mate, love the vids you make. Could you please make a video on how you did your front speakers? Common problem for all us 80 drivers!! Thanks heaps
Hmm well the speakers were like that when I bought the car. And I can’t say that I am a fan of how it was done. It was a bit butchered with wires poked through. Seals. One day I might get to fixing it
You can ask but I have not had much to do with window regulators I have had to replace the tracks as one got twisted up and bent but that’s about all my knowledge on them. Sorry
Having a solid surface to work on makes it a lot easier when tapping out out press fitted parts. You can see the hub bouncing off the tinny table with each hit, which means it needs a lot more hitting than it would if securely held. He would be better off working on the floor
@@blackllama1 Sorry to question but what confused me was that on my vehicle one side had the seal rubber ring facing outwards and on the other inwards so one had to be wrong and as it transpired the wrong one had a rusting inner bearing. I had done a lot of salt water crossings.

Sorry don’t have the part number. But I’ll see what I can find. Just remember in that vid I accidentally put the steel in backwards. It held but is not ideal
@@blackllama1 thanks, i found something based on the diameter of the spindle that matched my micrometer measurements. I did see the part about the seal direction. I think it would still work since its just a water and dust seal. The one in the end of the spindle holds the lube in the axle tube.
A bearing puller would of made light work of removing the rear bearing, you can turn the key bolt around and use it in reverse to get the claws inside and behind it
hmmm seems to me lots of people run bearings on diff oil and are fine with it. And no failers. Look at I8mud about it. Just making sure the outer seal is spot on

Hi free thinkers, 24-05-2022, if video 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser 80JHZ rear axle bearing replacement you installed bearing seal backnto front, the rubber faces out to backing plate. You can use tension wrench to prevent incorrect tension on nuts & bolts. Take the video off platform, the comments not always viewed.
shouldnt it have around 6 th slop in the hub..for expansion. that lock ring in clocked,if its too sloppy, you should be able to turn it round. same as fords, dana diff lock rings..
easy way to dislodge the cones is whack the ever living sht out of the center of that axle shaft where the dimple is, if you have an air hammer just hammer the center dimple and it all vibrates loose. you wont hurt the axle shaft by whacking it and make sure those nuts are on the end in case you miss

At 8:44 what sizes where thos bolts
What's the thread size on the two bolts needed to separate the front of the hub

How many kgs of grease do I need per hub and repacking bearing ?
Unsure exactly. I just pack it till it’s full. I think I had a 2kg tub and had spare

I think that the rear bearing seal was upside down and refitted the same way. My understanding is that the rubber rim should face outwards.
