  • I visit Ryan and Tim at LAURIETON MOTORS AND MECHANICAL, to re-pack the wheel bearings and give a full tutorial of how to do it properly.
Really enjoyed making this one, not sure anyone has had as much fun doing such a messy job as what we did. There were plenty more out-takes I could have left in, but I don't think RUclips would approve.😂 ENJOY!

When I did my fitting apprenticeship I was told you need 2 hammers, a big one and a small one
The small one to tap the bearings in, and the big one if they didn’t fit
But make sure the boss is not watching
Another great episode very informative, I wish more you tubers did these

Nice video, I have a new 76 and need to check the hubs next service. I was looking for the torque specs on the bolts holding the front free wheeling hubs.

Good video, but you’ll find bearings will last longer if you don’t back them off but have a slight preload as per the factory instructions

Another tip is the auto FWH have to be in the locked position when removing and installing - this is the opposite to what we do with the older manual FWH.

      Hi Phil.
Yes that is a great tip. We did notice that but forgot to mention it. Thanks for the comment. 👍🏼

Hi any problem getting the right rear axle back in? Find it hard sometimes to get it to line back up with the factory locker. Have been told to lock diff before removal any truth in this?

Hi Gareth, yeah mate your absolutely right.
I’ve just replaced them again at 50000ks and yes locking the rear diff makes it heaps easier to get back in.

19:20 I would stay away from anything European! Well, someone should have told the Australian Army that. They converted there whole fleet to Mercedes G wagons, MAN Trucks. And then there was the UNIMOG they had for 30 years. Can't be all that bad.
