You have given me nothing but motivation to do this. Sadly I just picked up the gloss turbo before seeing these results.
Thank you, the gloss will work also. It just has a little more peel. You can put a good heavy coat on and let it dry at least 48 hours the wet sand it with a block with 600 grit till the peel is gone then shoot your clear and it will look great!!!

Love seeing new vid from you man. Think about that ombré fade video… can’t wait. Also, my tip back to you for all the help you’ve given us… I take a sheet of 1” foam board insulation and lay it down on the ground right below the side I’m working. It helps the knees out when spraying, cleaning and buffing. Also keeps the ground dust and specks from being airborne with the spray. (Also if you drop a towel or buffing pad, less chance of grit)
That really ended up NICE. I feel like starting with the Flat gives more of a charcoal finished look than pitch black, but that's still a good look. The slickness is what's impressive.
I see you have what looks like the rest of the truck or enough parts to make a nice truck that would be cool to see especially putting all that work into the the bed

@@ACDesignsGarage Im a new subscriber - amazing channel! How would you make this last longer than a year or two?? How will it look when it goes bad in a year or two?
I’ve doing this for quite a few years. It actually lasts. The only problem you’ll run into is on the front bumper. Rock chips are a bit easier to get on the front bumper than a good factory clear.
Rupes warranties on their buffers if excellent. I had the same one that was about 3 years old and they fixed it for free. I sent it In and had it back in two weeks. They even sent me a cool little buffer Keychain. 😆
Thank you so much for this informative video. I have a 1930 Hudson Super 8 that I was considering painting in black but didn’t want to pay the $10,000 to the local body shop. I think I can pull this off for just a few hundred bucks!
If I recall correctly, m105 takes out 1500 grit. About 10 years back I used it with an original harbor freight DA (Chicago Electric, still works today and sounds loud as that Bauer) I used quality foam pads: lakes country orange pad with 105 and Followed it up with m205 white pads. I had the same results, but differently, more push/work (4lbs?) with the foam pads. I'm going to try those pads you used with zero pressure. I'm getting to old ha I really like this video series, brother. Using the Turbo flat black with a 2k clear is brilliant. I'll def use this combo in the future. Maybe leave that bed in the sun to see how long the rattle 2k holds up (do 6 month updates on it) ya could put some ceramic coating on half of it and see how long that compares in 2 years. 🍻
Thank you, yeah Once I tried the microfiber pads they do glide easier for sure!! That bed side is holding up pretty good, I thought about doing a walk around at 3 months. It's been setting in the rain sun and dew for almost 2 months and she's still lookin good! Thank you for the support!!!!
@ACDesignsGarage Definitely do a walk around every 3 months. Give it a cleaning in the vid as well. I don't think anybody has done a real-world field test on the rattle can 2k clear. Maybe do a hood next for direct UV abuse from the sun. Chemically, it should last as long as any 2k clear. 🍻
Great video🔥🙌🏼this gave me ideas for an engine bay.. would like to ask if u got recommendations on what to use when polishing one stage black paint on a classic? You definitely know a lot more than I do
I would probably start with like a m105 meguires compound on a DA polisher then m205 polish to finish it up. If you have any light scratches that won't buff out lightly 2500 wet sand them till its gone the 105 and 205 the spot as long as there is enough paint on there. Hope this helps,, thank you for watching!!!!
If you want to send that knife to Texas, I would be happy to sharpen it for you, if y'all ain't got nobody over there that can do it. Lol. Thanks for the video, sir!
I have that buffer, it does really good. Lots of continuous use it kinda gets warm, just take a break and let it cool down. I’ve found a speed of 4-5 works best.
Would you say the color intensity is different between the gloss and flat blacks? In the sun, they look like a sepia black, a black with some brown in it. These videos have been really informative... no nonsense, spray it out, buff it up short and sweet. We keep up on OANN with the NC folks, that station keeps the prayers flowing.
This is going to replace my John Deere paint jobs for sure. Can’t make up my mind how black the rustoleum is, kinda has a milky tone to it when it direct sunlight. Awesome series and would be curious to see updates on it sittin outside.
Thank you, I'm gonna leave this side un touched and we'll check back in a few months, I like the blitz black john deer implement paint. I painted my 33 ford years ago with it!
@@ACDesignsGarage I don't mind using wax and grease remover as long as it doesn't soften the rustoleum. I fear single component paints for several reasons, one it's in my head most any solvent will soften them. Maybe more than a couple years durability is expecting too much.
Hey, I just recently found your videos; I love the content as someone who is just stepping into the body/paint world. could you talk a bit about singe stage paints? I am looking into doing one as my 2nd paint project. Got a few reasons i am considering a single stage but your videos on cut n buffing is giving me 2nd thoughts
Sure, single stage is pretty good, I like tcp global hot rod flatz if your looking for a satin look and they have a ton of colors. One cool thing is you can single stage your ride and if you want that show car shine you can wet sand it and shoot a couple coats of clear on it. It's a great place to start!!! Good luck!!!
@@ACDesignsGarage thanks for the reply, i have been looking over at tcp's hot rod flatz colors. They have a hot rod red that matches their bed liner. Thanks for the info on the clear coating
Awesome videos, been watching them all lately. Thanks for all the knowledge you share. If I don't have a buffer, will buffing by hand be ideal as well?
Them dang gon usbc's lol. Man that looks good! I need to reclear my Tahoe's hood and roof. It's black and clear is pealing. Probably won't happen thou. I'm not scared to lazy
The slight brown, sepia, tone would do well under some root beer pearls I wonder how a dry application of pearls could work, or mix them in water, spray the water and see what sticks? :)
wait, I know. Mount a flour sifter with pearl powder inside to the end of a ShakeMaster 4000 right over a can of 2K Clear and let it rip as you spray it out.
@ACDesignsGarage well I'm already doing orange peel removal pretty dry process I'm going to make one more call on Monday to chemical guys if there small rotory is light weight I'm going with it

Man I appreciate it, but I've got 3 c10 projects that my wife said zi had to get done lol, but thanks for the offer. I have a 04 2500hd that I'm gonna have to repaint also
@ACDesignsGarage you would be surprised it's not that much I bought a 3/32 ingersoll finish sander on Amazon $134 interface pad $10 and the sandpaper like the 3,000 you only use 1 disc per car
dude before you strip it, idk what your schedule is like but we wanna see how it holds up in the sun /winter that looks amazing. how long you think this would last, is auto spray 2k thicker than this spray paint 2k i guess what im asking is it going to last. if i take great care of it, wax and ceramic coat afterwards and such, can I see a few years out of something like this before having to do it again?
@@ACDesignsGarage yes brotha, I love the videos like that I have a 2000 mustang it was actually my first car and I've had it since it was new. Needs some help in the paint department but im not in a position to even bring it to MAcco at the moment. You give me the confidence to do it myself. And try again and again until its right. You just did the "glossy turbo black" too so seeing these videos back to back man. gets my blood pumping gets me excited to try myself and lets me know its alright to make mistakes cause with a bit of time I can try again and again. I appreciate the videos. would love to see a full car done one day.
These DA buffers make life much easier, the rotary machines are awesome but you can bake on the compound and mar the paint. They work great but have a larger learning curve.
You mentioned only about a year in the sun, and i read a comment saying they used this method on a vehicle and have gotten four years ago far. How or what can one do to improve the life of the clearcoat, especially in direct sunlight? Central Florida loves to burn even factory paint and clear. I'm not looking to get super showroom finish, i just want to restore an 02 and 07 mustang GT lol
Yes I sat for probably 4 days then I wet sanded it with 600 grit wet then sprayed it with the clear. Check on my playlist called paint your car at home and there are all the previous videos.
While it is sprayed out of a can its not spray paint. Its a 2k hardened clear. You can also get the same basecoat any bodyshop uses in a aresol can. The title implies its some cheap rattle can material you are buffing.
I mean it's still spray paint you can't adjust the fan or pressure or mixture. And the tital says 2k clear . I've sprayed $800 a gallon clear on 6 figure cars, so yeah it's cheap clear lol
@@ACDesignsGarage Considering you get about 8oz of hardened clear in a spraymax can thats including activator it would cost you nearly $400 to get a sprayable gallon. i wouldnt call that cheap clear by any means. Where is the videos of these 6 figure cars? What clear are you using thats $800 a gallon? Ive been doing restoration and custom paint for 30 years and ive never paid $800 for a single gallon of clear. Our SW CC950 doesnt even cost that.

Yeah they work great also, I have some I should do a comparison video. I'm a fan of the microfiber!
"3 for dale mainly" made me chuckle
Hahaha I grew up 20 minutes from his home town. You had to pull for Dale in my home lol
Amen Brother
Thank you!!!!!
Yes hand buffing will work fine, it will just take a little longer! Or you could use a cordless drill with 3 inch buffing pad. Thanks for watching.
Them dang gon usbc's lol. Man that looks good! I need to reclear my Tahoe's hood and roof. It's black and clear is pealing. Probably won't happen thou. I'm not scared to lazy
Hahaha I get that way!!!
That would be cool, I love that root beer color
First 😊. I noticed you seemed to use the block as a squeegee once in a while. Did you have paper on it when you did?
It was actually a 3m squeegee, but I have use the block as a squeegee, they work great just take the paper off first!!!
Looks like it does a good job I'm just not sure I'm ready to transition from rotory to orbital
Just come on over to the dark side lol
@ACDesignsGarage well I'm already doing orange peel removal pretty dry process I'm going to make one more call on Monday to chemical guys if there small rotory is light weight I'm going with it
I just watched this video I subbed
Thank you very much!!!
Can you do a panel with the white turbo can? Thanks for the videos!
I may try that, thanks for the tip!!!
Sold
Brother we appreciate you out here,I'm in Marshall NC,I actually have a lq9 i saved from the mess down town,I've got a 01 GMC Sierra that I just traded for were calling Helene, the truck has already been sprayed with the turbo flat, what would you charge to paint the truck?huge fan of your style brother, please send me a message if you'd be down to paint her
Man I appreciate it, but I've got 3 c10 projects that my wife said zi had to get done lol, but thanks for the offer. I have a 04 2500hd that I'm gonna have to repaint also
Shoot that looks great thanks for helping out
Thank you for watching!!!!
Adrian, do you ever use a clay bar on your paint jobs?
I need to but never have tried that!
Any idea if vinyl decals will stick after the cut and buff?
They should, usually they stick to slick stuff to good lol
Man you guys that are still wet sanding old school I do everything orbital now
Yeah I can't get off it lol
Yeah man I'm gonna leave it on for a while to see how it does in a few months!!
I always wondered if you keep buffing till the compound shines up. I was worried about buffing dry.
Yeah I have more faith in it than most. I'm gonna leave it alone for a year and see what we get lol, thanks for watching!!!!
@ACDesignsGarage - If you do let the cut and buff age in the sun. Can you do 1 section not wax. 1 section wax and another section ceramic coat?
We may try that, thats a great idea!!! , im gonna leave this side alone for a year and see how it does
@@ACDesignsGarage - Cant wait to see the results. Thanks for showing us how to do a durable finish on a budget.
How long you waited for the clear coat to cure "dry" before buffing?
A couple days , I probably waited 4 day just because that's when I had time to get back on it!!!
@@ACDesignsGarage thanks 👍
After base coat was anything done sanding etc.?
Yes I sat for probably 4 days then I wet sanded it with 600 grit wet then sprayed it with the clear. Check on my playlist called paint your car at home and there are all the previous videos.
Glass!!
Thank you
Could this be done with the turbo clear or is it to soft?
Won't hold up as good as the 2k. Thanks for watching.
You should spray paint and use expensive clear 😊
We can do it lol
Is there a chance that you will get 3XL shirts in the future? Just got my AC DESIGNS 2XL shirt today, but it feels like an XL unfortunately.
I'm sorry, Yeah we're gonna do a new shirt with my 67 vw bug on it and we're also up grading the quality of shirts also!
Makes me want to go out and buy something that needs painting!! My wife ain't gonna like you much ...
Hahahaha, paint the lawn mower, or custom paint the mail box
What would it look like with wax ? Can you show us ?
I may do a wax video on it soon, thanks for the idea!!!
How come you don't use like a 1000 or 1500?Wouldn't it get done quicker
If it would of had more orange peel then I would of gone to the 1000. That's how I usually choose my grit hoarseness is how rough the clear is.
Why do you say it may not last a year?
I think it will last longer than that, alot of guys are saying it won't last 6 months. I'm gonna let it set out for a year to see how long it last.
I live in New London nc do you know where that is
Yep I used to go to Galloways 4x4 alot
I'd like to see that in the sun
Ill try to remember to roll it out when I do a follow up video!
@ACDesignsGarage 10-4 boss
Paint that car lift with a turbo can it would be pimping
It Needs it bad!!!!!
I cant buff for shit. I want to try again.
This buffer makes it easy, you got it!!!
[ NO EV FOR ME ] i run on gas 🐈💨
@@scoop-pm7lk hahahaha me too
While I enjoy your videos I do find the religious comments not something I need to hear . If I wanted to hear about a deity I would select a religious channel . While there is freedom of speech I find it off putting .
I'm sorry you feel that way but that's who I am ,thank you for watching!
@@ACDesignsGarage I'm not a huge churchgoer cept when my wife drags me but it is nice to hear and not at all offensive. I really cannot see how it would bother anyone, that is someone truly with nothing else worthwhile to fuss over.
I can’t believe it’s spray paint can’t wait to get my mustang done
I'm still impressed on how good it looks lol
