It’s not something that I need but I thoroughly enjoyed watching your review, as I do all your reviews. Interesting info. 👍🏻 What’s great is I can pass on the info to friends/family that has need for a rack. ♥️
That is a serious bike rack Dave! I just find it so cool that you’re able to have equipment that will house all your family bikes! We have a small family and just have a Yakima- never knew they sold sumfin for a larger volume. Cheers from the Midwest 😁 oh and happy Friday JR!
I ride a road bike. I wanted a hitch mounted bike rack that was easy to use. I’m no spring chicken. I am very happy with the one I got. The only problem was-they didn’t have a 3 bike hitch rack so I bought a five bike rack. There’s only ever one bike hooked to it but it is infinitely better than trying to wrestle my bike in and out of my SUV. My next challenge is finding bike shorts for my larger but not standard shape if anyone has any suggestions.
Thats an Intense Rack, Dave ! Love the FAT Bike 💡. Very versatile. I have a Bell 'Right Up 250' that has hoops to accomidate Road to FAT tires - if a 2 bike rear platform is enough capacity. Hey - do you do Snowmobile trails on your FATTIE ? I wish to try that but East Texas hasn't any ! I ride a 2021 Mongoose Dolomite ALX FAT....set up tubeless. Love your Fit Family Vibe - all our 5 children raced Road Races / Bike Tours. Great job & God bless - David in E Texas
@@FrugalFitDad Ok Ill search your channel too bad Ill just be more jealous. Im thinking on a move from Texas to South Dakota. Found your great family video on "Mickelson Trail 109 miles" and subbed right off. Are you near to SD ? FAT bikes are rare here in the South (Deep East Texas) far more common in Snow / Mountain Country - so I gather anyhow. Thanks for your content...cycling sports & family are a great match, but you know that. I had not heard of the Cycling Schools Association (name is ?) you promoted but great idea. Ill look em up. If we had more kids riding everything would improve on more levels than we could count !
Have you ever tried to put a mtb with averaged sized (~2.4” width) 29er or 27.5 wheels in the fat bike hoop? Is it secure enough to run like that on occasion?
Looks like you forgot to add the hold down strap to the large wheel hoop, there is a nub for it? Or is it not needed and or have you noticed it and fixed it since this video?
I bought the fat tire hoops from someone else that didn’t need them. When he sold them to me he didn’t have the extra long straps. I’ve been using Velcro straps I had lying around. I just haven’t gotten around to ordering the extra long straps yet. So far the Velcro straps work just fine. They just aren’t as quick or convenient.
I'm thinking about getting this. Right now I use a Yakima Four-Timer but I need more capacity. My youngest just got into a 16" bike. I'm hesitant because I'm not sure it will fit the Velocirax. You mentioned kids bikes. What size?
For someone who doesn't ride bikes and has no need for a rack I really like that rack

Nice long term review. Just ordered mine. 😁
I saw one of these at a NICA race last week. Thinking now about getting the 5x myself. Thanks for the follow-up.

@@psalm2forliberty577 we ride in the local NICA league. We are in Idaho but lived in Dallas from 2006-2012.
Great video
Whats a good lock to use ? Ubolt, cable etc??

No
Where do you keep it when not on your car?
In the garage against a wall or in a shed.

Thought on using this on my Small motor home? Thoughts on if it will hold up?
No problem.
What do you use for locking your bikes to the rack? Do you lock them somehow to the tire trays?
Wondering the same. I have some ideas but best way would require welding a good anchor on the vertical shaft.
They sell an add-on integrated lock.

The smallest bike I put on the rack so far has been a youth 24 inch mountain bike. It worked just fine.
I ride the same size bike as your youngest? 😳
