    Agreed 100%. I'm aware that this comment is a novel, but I'll explain thoroughly. I have taken a few days to research.
    The finalized 2018 regulations involve a complex metric where the total Kw/h of power used, along with the total gallons used to do the largest load possible with the machine, are then divided by the tub capacity... or multiplied, or the cosine of the square root, some typical Government think-tank figure that was agreed upon by a handful of DOE employees who know *NOTHING* about how clothes washing is accomplished.
    Yours and ours met the 2015 regs before they were introduced. In fact, the "real-world" total energy use on ours, using Medium fill and Normal Eco, is already comparable to front-loader models, and in fact are BETTER than some of the 2015 front-loaders. A quick way to tell is this...if you find a front-loader that is *NOT* Energy Star rated, then your machine here uses LESS energy. SQ just missed the Energy Star tier, and they missed it on purpose in order to quote "Allow the customer the choice to use a full fill and a deep-tub rinse via the "Heavy Duty" cycle selection, as the ability to choose is a larger selling point than benefits of the Energy Star rating." That quote was taken out of an internal SQ memo to dealers. Everywhere you look, you see ENERGY STAR... it's not exactly a huge selling point anymore because you see it on just about EVERYTHING. It's like a car company advertising "The all-new 2018 Cadillac Escalade, comes complete with *ANTI-LOCK BRAKES!"*
    It's important that anyone reading my comment, or commenting themselves on the 2018 models, understand that *Energy Star* and the *US Department of Energy* are two different entities, Energy Star being a voluntary certification and nothing more, and the DOE being a US Government regulating body.
    All this being said, both the total Kw/h and total gallons that the AWN series use to wash a large-fill "Normal-Eco" cycle is slightly higher than the final iteration of the 2018 regulations. The 1-hp 3-phase motor in the 2018s (which of course is taken directly from the existing SQ front-loaders,) combined with the slightly less wash fill, just eeeks the 2018s under the scope of the requirements.
    The reason why the motor, at twice the size, uses less "Kw/h" is two-fold: First, it's only running 1/3rd of the time. The inverter drive powers it "forward, off... reverse, off..." and therefore uses, for the sake of discussion, half the Kw/h it would use if it were constantly running. Secondly, since it's a 3-phase ECM DC motor being driven through electronics, it's more efficient than a typical AC induction motor. So, in laymen's terms and within a nutshell, this motor uses slightly less electricity overall than the 1/2-hp AC motor in yours and ours. And, of course, you're correct, without a transmission only driving an agitator against the resistance of water, these motors are driving the entire mass of the whole washload...about 300 pounds.
    The discontinuation of the transmission, along with using "off-the-shelf" front-loader motors, is nothing but *cost cutting.*
    HOWEVER... the thing with these particular motors is this... YES they have been in use for ten years in the SQ front-loaders, but uh...people forget what a front-loader does. The motor soft-starts, ramps up, tumbles for ten seconds or so, windings heat up, then pauses for five seconds or so, windings cool a bit. These 2018s just slam the motor with "forward, reverse, forward, reverse," at full chooch and there's no ramping, and no delay for the windings to cool. Imagine flooring the gas pedal in your car and operating the shifter in this manner. The fact is, these motors were simply Just. Not. Designed. for this mode of operation. Neither were the inverter drives. I shudder to think what is going on inside the inverter drive...power surge after power surge after power surge.
    Here's what should have happened, and this was after about three hours of crunching numbers on my part... they should have taken the existing AWN, added a pulse-width modulating triac controller to cut the [existing] motor down to about 85% during the wash cycle, left the transmission in place as-is, cut two minutes off the final spin, and set the [also existing] fill-level transducer back about 8 gallons. The worst that would have happened then would have been a couple less T-shirts of capacity, and an extra five minutes in the dryer.
    That would have *JUST* squeezed under the new requirements, and kept the same components and reliability legend. Plus, people like us could have easily adjusted the fill back to full with the well-known turn of the screw, and removed the PWM triac to make the motor run at 100%.
    Instead, they chose to cost-cut by eliminating the transmission (obviously the most expensive part,) and using the parts-bin drivetrain from the front-loader. And they modified the existing front-loader controller with software, which is free. Oh, and they tacked on about $100'ish to the price for good measure.

      Awesome info there Harley! I knew your electrical knowledge would come in handy! I like your motor explanations. The 2018 TL motor is VERY hard-starting compared to the FL motors. Of course, only people with common sense such as yourself, I, and a few others will take notice of that. I figured there were some differences between Energy Star, and DOE, but I wasn't sure of those exact details.
      As you explain, amazing what they could have done to make it the least change as possible. But of course they just could not do that. Such is life, huh? Still, good thing we got our machines when we did!

      Harley Badger The motor in my Maytag A810 only uses 7 amps at 120v AC. Reversing a motor back and forth uses more electricity than having a motor that spins in one continuous direction, and reveres the other direction for spin.

All set to walk into a store and say give me one next week. Then I saw THIS. OHHH NOOOOO, I'm not having the changes. Not this girl. I wish we saw this video before we purchased our 2018 Speed Queen.
    We've had the 2018 SQ for the past 3 months. It was to replace a 1990s Kenmore that worked very well for us, but unfortunately we thought it wasn't worth it to repair (in hindsight, we should have with with the repair). We are a family of 4, with a toddler and a baby, and I can tell you that we are extremely frustrated with this new washer. In fact, I found this video when trawling through looking for solutions. The 2018 SQ does nothing for us. We don't even have very dirty clothes, just non-oily baby food, light dirt and soil from playing outside, and crumbs to wash off and it doesn't even do that properly. We're having to hand-wash stuff either before or after each wash. Stains that haven't been washed properly again and again have gotten moldy and we've had to discard bibs and articles of baby clothes that have lasted us 3 years and 2 other washing machines.
    We were lucky that we went to an excellent dealer that went out of their way to be helpful. They sent technicians over twice, the second time to upgrade the circuit board to the latest version 6 (didn't make a difference). We finally worked something out where they're going to replace our 2018 with a warehouse-damaged 2017 SQ after replacing the damaged panel, at no charge to us.
    From my conversation with the technician, the 2018 SQ has been problematic for numerous customers. The service manager, who has been assisting us for the past month, confirms this. Our dealer, who's been in business for over 50 years, will no longer sell Speed Queen due to their issues.
    To anyone reading this, don't make the same mistake we did. Stay far away from it.

      i would never ever buy another speed queen....after 3 years and 1 repair, the transmission went, leaking oil into the clothes. it also had the odor of burning oil, like an old car. the tech said the oil was not that bad and i should just accept it and when i called speed queen customer service, they were unaccommodating and expected me to pay for the diagnostics and repair, even though it was under warrantee. i am buying a washer from GE this time as people i know have had excellent reports of GE. speed queen gets two thumbs down and i am telling every one about it. buyer beware. piece of junk with fake warrantee, dishonorable company.

      The newly available TC5000WN (AWN632SP116TW01) is essentially a revival of the 2017 models' best attributes: independent agitator, tub brake, no lid lock, and it even gets ground-in red clay out of my work jeans, one detergent pac, not using the available "DEEP FILL" option. An extra rinse adds ten minutes to the cycle. I bought one a couple of weeks ago and after using "HE" models from GE and LG, I think this is the best top-loader you can buy. I paid $1029 plus delivery and tax, right at $1140 total. Not inexpensive, but certainly a good value.

    I called 6 places today. Only one had the 17. And they had one. I put a deposit on it till I get time to drive 2 hours to snag it. I agree that the wpool direct drive is great. The difference is the rub, baseplate and just the weight of the cabinet in general. Equally reliable the speed queen is just a bit more heavy duty and commerical and I like that. I work on appliances for a living and I've seen these style units and similar ones run 30 years or more. When they deviated from concrete tubs and took away springs anchoring the unit down it wouldn't put up with even slightly I'm balanced loads. Their are clothes washer and dishwashers but their are also clothes and dish wetters. Your points are all valid. Glad I caught the last one on the gulf coast haha.

    • @5610winston
      @5610winston 5 лет назад

      LG=Lots of Grief, and I know whereof I speak. I bought one because Consumer Reports rated it highly. HUGE MISTAKE! Mine never cleaned the clothes properly, but the machine would fill brim-full and drain four times then settle into a sulk with an unbalanced code flashing when you wanted to toss things into the dryer and rush to work the next morning. Check out the newly available (May 2019) SQ TC5000WN, model number AWN632SP116TW01. There are RUclips videos. I've had mine a couple of weeks, and it works like it's supposed to. The clothes come out clean and with much less lint than the LG top-loader left. And the normal cycle takes a bit less than a half-hour. And there's a deep fill option and the hot wash does not temper the temp with cold. Speed Queen dealers are small business people and depend on customer satisfaction, not my experience with a certain big box chain that shares initials with "Big Box".

  • @whoisthisguy724

    I wonder if Speed Queen realizes that by cheapening their design that they alienated 90% of their customer base. There's a reason their washers developed a cult following and that's because they were built like tanks. The good-ish news is that according to an Alliance spokesman, the 2017 style toploaders will be available alongside the 2018 style through the end of the 2018 model year. And you should be able to find 2017 models in appliance showrooms for at least another year or two, as they are slow, but profitable sellers. That being said I'm going to buy one of the 2017 style toploaders while I can still find them and keeping it running for as long a I can...

    Great review I agree with everything you said. I have the same model got mine April of 2016. What a shame what they did to it, I agree, that for cost cutting measures they spelled the end of an era with Speed Queen. The washing performance of the new model leaves much to be desired. It has no power to actually wash the clothes rather than swish them around. Yes they had to increase the motor hp exactly as you said, due the weight of a full drum of water and clothes plus the momentum of moving it rapidly back and forth. It is much more quite but who cares if it’s not cleaning a soiled wash. Maybe they will use marketing to relabel it a Clothes Refresher instead! Thanks again for your demo why couldn’t they bring some of there loyal customers up to headquarters for a brainwashing. They would not have succeeded with there 2018 performance. Looking forward to see Consumer Reports review they will probably say now it’s the best thing since Apply Pie. Where is Andy Rooney when you need him?

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  6 лет назад +2

      Clothes Refresher! Haha, I like that! The new one is absolutely pathetic, I swear that they didn't even try, and tried to make it as cheap as possible. Unless the energy guide was lying, I do not see how you could get more efficient than that. I've always thought Consumer Reports was a crock. I'll believe what I myself personally sees.

    I agree totally! It might've helped if thee agitator was independant of the drum and did it's own agitation. It would probably work more like an agipeller. The new 2018 models may be good for office dust, but real dirt and stains getting shifted out has yet to be seen. I'd use a pod detergent such as tide. I use tide pods original and downy april fresh for my laundry and I use clorox bleach for whites.

    • @duser4629
      @duser4629 6 лет назад +1

      using bleach in a washer is nasty and its NOT needed, the bleach from the previous load does not drain and some still sits in the basket and will be re-circulated on the next wash, had this happen when someone used
      bleach and the next load was a normal wash and some of the close had white spots where there was color ,
      i always think you people who need it brighter white then the sun are suffering from OCD !! its just disgusting ! I DO NOT allow bleach to be used in my washer, its a dangerous and harsh chemical and also
      cause pre-mature wear on clothing, because bleach slowly eats away at the closes, just because you need your clothing
      brighter white then the sun!

    you just said everything I’ve been thinking for so long. Trying to trash a completely reliable wash system they’ve had for years. Luckily, they are still offering it the TR7 series I believe, it’s got a silver and white control panel with the flex vane agitator, not the fake swishing agitator that does nearly nothing. Unfortunately my dad got the TR5 series and I’m very disappointed with it, and he didn’t know at the time that they still offered the older wash system. Might try to get him to swap it out.

      Look at the SQ AWN632SP116TW01 "COMMERCIAL HEAVY DUTY" (late 2019-model introduced in May), or the Maytag MVWP575GW "COMMERCIAL".
      These will not be available through the big box stores such as Home Depot or Best Buy, but you can find them at locally-owned "Mom-and-Pop" furniture and appliance stores. You'll probably have to google "furniture and appliance stores".
      The Speed Queen is almost identical to the 2017-model and uses the proven mechanicals that last thirty years at the coin laundries. The Maytag "COMMERCIAL" is similar to the Maytag coin laundry machines, except for the dual-action agitator.
      Whirlpool also builds the deceptively named Maytag "COMMERCIAL TECHNOLOGY" machines sold through big box stores. Check out these machines, check the video reviews, commit their features to memory, and steer well clear.
      Most reviews are negative. These machines are also rebadged as Roper, Conservator, Crosley, Amana, Admiral, Whirlpool, Kenmore, and any of the other dozen or so brands now owned by Whirlpool.
      Good luck in selecting your new machine.

    Sales will most likely sink like a stone. This is not only bad for Speed Queen, but local appliance stores will likely loose business because they were the only ones who sold Speed Queen washers and dryers. The new 2018 Speed Queen washers will most likely be a failure since they do not clean as well as the one with a transmission.

    • @Georgevinemontchristianchurch
      @Georgevinemontchristianchurch 6 лет назад +3

      It is like reliving what happened to maytag 15 years ago when they scrapped their dependable care line , 1st they cheapened it up by useing cheaper parts so we started having lots more breakdowns, 2nd , we were having enough failures that it made us open to a NEW design that was supposed to be the savior of all washers, 3rd, that washer was the biggest disaster in washing machine history ( so far ) 4th , they doubled down on the terrible washer, promising the fixes that never came, and wouldn’t even consider bringing the old machine back, 5th and final chapter , this mess went on for 3 years then in 2006 maytag Corp. a shell of the great company it once was , sold out to whirlpool ! To all the speed queen dealers who were once maytag dealers , is it just me or are we seeing a classic example of history repeating itself ?????

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  6 лет назад +2

      Well if sales do go down, no one to blame but themselves!
      In regards to Maytag. Yeah, they lost $9,000,000 in 2004, probably because of cheapening up products like was said there. If that happens to SQ, well they only brought it upon themselves. Although maybe they'll just stick with the commercial market. It's not the first time they've done that.

Wish I would have seen some of these videos before I bought mine. Also realizing how many things I don’t have on this machine that I miss. Like the detergent dispenser so I don’t have to be home babysitting it to put fresh soap in after a soak or a prewash. I should have watched this before purchasing. I've had a 2018 model for less than 2 years and it now requires a "complete tear-down and rebuild" according to the technician in consultation with Speed Queen technicians. So it not only doesn't clean well (which my wife always said), the quality is really poor. When I pressed for a replacement due to my lemon, I was met with significant resistance by Speed Queen. Parts needed 1) lower bearing, 2) spline, 3) shaft, 4) weldment asm, 5) drive control arm, 6) tub, 7) all the necessary nuts, etc. So essentially all necessary components except for the white shell. This work order doesn't include the control board which also failed.

Once my new machines arrive, I will start restoring my old whirlpool. Total rebuild from the ground up. I told the salesman and my wife " under no circumstances do I want my old machine taken away". The sales staff at the store understood completely. They are not at all enthused about the new 2018 model or any of the other high efficiency garbage they unfortunately HAVE to sell. The salesman pointed out speed queen no longer mentions the new machines have the durability to last 25 years like ours will. They still seem to have better construction than the typical China pride though. However..it still remains to be seen how these new machines will stand up. From what I can see, washabilty in the 2018 models is already compromised due to the inadequate weak agitation..let's hope the rest isn't a complete failure as well. I might be wrong, but It looks like it might be possible to swap in a transmission drive with a little know - how... modifications to the electronic controls would also need done..Maybe? Anyway, Thank You for taking the time to make this most helpful video!

      Very good timing my friend! That 92 series should last you a long time. Keep that direct drive going as well! With a new 92 series and a direct drive on the side. You are set for life! I'm sure the sales staff know exactly about why you are as such with your machines!
      As for swapping parts? Not too sure on that one. Maybe someone else knows though!

    The people bashing the new 2018 machines should differentiate between them being against the Washing action and if the machine will be durable and or it's longevity.
    The main reason I bought a SQ was for it's longevity and reliability.

    • @Sharkie626

    I agree with you 100% The new machine is designed to be more profitable and I do think it may have less possible issues for repair but I do agree the new pump could fail the motor is going to be under lots of load being it does not have a transmission to gear up or down thus the motor works harder to perform the same functions with out the transmission. As per agitation I saw video on the 2018. I can not see how this new method of agitation can compete with the 2017 machine as per cleaning.

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  6 лет назад +3

      Exactly, I don't see the transmission as a problem. I see it as a necessary part that creates great washing, and if built well won't add too much load to the motor. I mean for how many years have they had something like that now??
      There is no way the 2018s will compete. Try using a comforter, it will never work!

You just drove away any chance of new customers who want a washer that runs like the older belt drive maytags and whirlpool. it's about energy savings - engineers design stupid things which interferes with operations and stupid govt people approve it - like smart meters, etc - they did same with hot water tanks too - the heat traps -
      Caveat, Clattering Noises
      If you can hear an annoying rattling sound, especially at night, suspect what are known as heat-trap nipples. These were designed to help water heaters meet federal energy conservation requirements. They consist of a nipple, which is a connector threaded at both ends, a plastic insert (have a pic but cant show here), and a marble, which is inside.
      The heat trap keeps heat from rising when the water heater is not in use. But it also is prone to rattle, especially if the water heater is equipped with a recirculation system that keeps water moving. And the piping will broadcast the noise all over the house. To solve the problem, simply take a pair of needle-nose pliers, firmly grasp the top part of the insert, work it loose, and throw away the marble.

    Great video Sharkie626. These pre-2018 Speed Queens were certainly better than the newer ones. I like that yours doesn’t index very much while agitating. These newer Speed Queens aren’t as good as these pre-2017 Speed Queens. As for the direct drives, it was an absolute disgrace that Whirlpool was forced to stop making them and start making these okay to unreliable belt drives. Maytag shot themselves in the foot with the Neptune front loaders which are junk. So, having said that, the washers I will take are the Speed Queen pre-2017 washers (even though I don’t like the electronics controls though since I prefer mechanical controls), the Kenmore/Whirlpool direct drives, the pre-1986 Lady Kenmore/Whirlpool belt drives, the Maytag Dependable Care washers, the GE Profile top loaders from 2006 and earlier, the GE Filter Flos, and any Frigidaire washer from the 1970s and earlier (1-18s and Unimatics for example). The only thing I don’t like about the Frigidaire 1-18s is that they were too noisy. Having said that, I’m continuing sticking with old school.

    Not that it's a major deal, but I believe it was 210 degrees not a 180 degrees stroke until 2018. I agree in 2018 that with the tub and the agitator moving in the same direction, these clothing are just simply riding the currents of the water rather than having the water forced through them. Also the rollover now stinks. What I would like to see Speed Queen do is increase the size of their tub that they have not changed in years. Perhaps they could have increased the number of Strokes per minute keeping it at 210 degrees. What they had going was working because the rollover was excellent. I just feel the stroke should have been a little faster.

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  6 лет назад +2

      They advertised it as 210, but it was definitely not 210. If you watch the agitator carefully it is definitely 180. If the tub still indexes, this won't be accurate. But when it's not, you can clearly see that it does 180 degree strokes.

    I will simply say: I concur with your findings and agree with them completely. I think it really is a cost-cutting measure.
    One other item of interest--the new machine uses a 1 HP motor and the old a 1/2 HP motor. Last I checked, a bigger motor uses more electricity than a smaller one. Sure, there are different types and kinds of motors, some designs more efficient than others. So the HP rating is one thing, but should really be compared apples-to-apples style, inasmuch as the new machine would need an induction motor also to make things equal.
    Little motor: Daddy, how come you have three wires and I only have 2?
    Daddy motor: That's just a phase going through you.

    As of 2/9/18, if anyone is looking for the AWN432 model, there are some available for Maryland and Southern PA. I just went and ordered mine today for delivery Monday. The owner was smart enough to order a bunch when he heard about the new models coming out for 2018. I was relieved to find one after calling around all over the place!

    I went through a course that SQ put on where we took the 2018 model apart, dissected every part, then reassembled it and I have to say, I am thoroughly happy with the new models! I honestly can't wait for them to come to my store and I think that everyone is just really freaking out too early on them.

    Hey Sharkie, I am sure you miss your 1990 Whirlpool direct drive. That is how I feel too since my parents bought our first newer Kenmore belt drive. That one took longer to wash our laundry. Therefore, I am suggesting to consumers as well to go to a used market and get themselves a Kenmore or Whirlpool direct drive.

Im debating on either getting a SQ 2018 or an LG top loader or the LG front loader that has the 6 motion wash action. I sell these for a living. We are a family owned retail store that's sold SQ for years. If you would take time and look past the changes they made to "conserve energy" you'll see this is far superior over the old line. That's why they can put a 7 YEAR WARRANTY on it! The fabric tests they've done over the old models come out cleaner and have less stress. It's true the EPA regulates all washers for 2018 (across all brands) so the new eco cycle has to meet EPA regulations but seeing these in action and what they do compare to the old 9 series is amazing! SQ had 2 choices to make after the EPA came out with their new regulations, create a POS machine like Maytag, Whirlpool, and LG, or spend years thinking outside the box to make something that lives up to the Speed Queen name. They haven't educated the consumer properly to show the difference between what the DOE and the EPA set (eco setting) and the heavy duty setting which is the same setting the old models have. The eco setting will conserve water and not use hot water. The only thing they changed on the new models was eliminating the transmission and made it so the water passes through the clothes instead of the clothes moving through the water. They're still made out of steel and you wont find plastic on them where you would on other brands. You're comparing apples to apples in this video, now compare SQ to any other brand out there and you'll find it will still destroy the competition because the competition must meet guidelines as well. Yes I am a salesman, I also carry Whirlpool, LG, Samsung and Crosley in our store and I will NEVER write a review protecting their name because they're not made with the quality SQ is made with. I use them on my floor to show how much better SQ is. I can say with pride when my own personal machine goes out I won't by anything other than a Speed Queen.

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  6 лет назад +3

      Here's the problem. This is probably about the 4th comment now that has told me that these 2018 machines will be reliable. Aside from the possibly the drain pump, I did not question the reliability of the 2018 machines, time will do that for us. I am well aware they still use metal, and the supporting suspension, and I commend them for it. I was talking about the washability of the machines. I have already seen the new washing action in several videos, and comments on it. Speed Queen even advertised in their previous models that they move water through your clothes. Though to be fair, some of their advertising I question, such as the 210 degree agitation stroke which was completely false. Anyone could easily see that it was 180. But a real heavy load in the 2018 model, such as work clothes? It's not gonna do well. If it does not turn over well, then the stuff on top especially will not get washed well.
      When some say that they have done testing on the new models and say they perform better, I want to know, how much water did they use, how much clothing, what type of clothing, what cycle, what detergent, and what water temperature? These are things they never tell you. But it's not limited to SQ. Back when GE came out with their Hydrowaves? They had a side by side comparison with their older model. The older model clearly had a much lower water level than the newer one. Not a fair comparison at all. If people are getting fabric wear from their machines, then they are using them wrong. I used a Whirlpool direct drive for many years. No tears, rips, holes, nothing at all. Simply wearing your clothes will wear them out faster than any properly used machine ever will.

    • @albatross2215
      @albatross2215 6 лет назад +2

      When we went to training they showed us fabric swatches that all manufacturers have to test with before they release they're models. I'm not a rep for SQ just a retailer and most of what they test will never be public knowledge and I don't have all the info at my finger tips for what they tested. I understand that they have to hype up the product to get me excited to sell it but from what I've seen I still stand behind their new machine. After the test they put the swatch under a microscope and check stress damage and how clean each stain got. It tested higher than any brand and out performed the old SQ models. The washability mimics a rip tide affect. The new machines eco cycle goes through algorithms to give the proper amount of water to each individual load. Compared to any other brands eco cycle. The energy guide, washability, and all tests are always based off the eco or normal cycle set by the DOE and EPA. I agree only time will tell. I hope for consumer sake it lives up to the SQ name, but in my opinion it's still going to be the best option compared to the other brands out there right now.

    • @albatross2215
      @albatross2215 5 лет назад

      Jerome Davis it’s designed not to move the clothes through the water, but move the water through the clothes. Until you actually see the results it is very hard to understand because something like this has never been done before. It will not turn your clothes over like a regular agitator. Instead it uses a drive shaft that would fit a Chevy and a 1HP motor. Since they released these I have personally sold over 50 units and have not had one customer call in about clothes not being cleaned properly. It’s been the exact opposite. They are referring their family and friends because they have never had a washer perform so well, with a full cycle time under an hour and is quieter than the older models. I can promise you if you purchase any of the new models you will not be disappointed. They back up their TR7 machine with a 7 year warranty which is unheard of because they know they build a quality machine. There’s nothing I can say or do to change how you perceive the new wash cycle. Instead ask a pro....select 5 random servicers in your area and ask them what washing machines they recommend and what does the best job. They work on all brands everyday. I would guess 3 out of 5 will say SQ (unless the servicer owns their own appl. store and does not carry SQ, they will only say what they carry) I hope whatever brand of machine you choose in the future does a great job for you and I hope this answers your question.

    Listen here,
    I have one of these newer 2018 speed queens and they're not bad at all. Everyone is just being hysterical.
    You even said yourself that has double the horsepower!
    SQ2017= 1/2 hp.
    New Queens= 1 full HP.
    I'll agree with you it doesn't wash as well as the older ones,
    but here is were you're wrong.
    I never have to worry about breaking the agitator or having the "dogs" wear out on the agitator.
    FYI... you don't need a tub break when you have a lid lock!
    Mine works fine. the older ones may have been a slightly better wash, but it's still really good.

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  5 лет назад

      Yes, it HAS to be more horsepower because it's trying to turn a tub full of water and clothes. It's not done to make it work any better over the previous models, but it looks like you acknowledge that. I have not seen agitators breaking, unless maybe someone is severely overloading a machine, which in that case is user error. And, this machine has no agitator dogs because it's a one piece, not a dual-action. Even so, on our previous machine, the dogs lasted 11 years, and then 15 years after the first replacement. Considering the replacements cost about $6.00, and labor is minimal, it's really not much of a loss at all. Lid locks were only added BECAUSE they got rid of the tub brake, which was a dumb move. It's stupid how you have to stop the machine to open the lid, where for years, that was never a problem.

    • @5610winston

      Whirlpool slaps about a dozen different names on a handful of different washer models. Salespersons insist that LG and Samsung are different from each other, but somehow I don't believe it. GE is still independent, or was last I heard. Alliance Laundry Systems LLC makes Speed Queen, Huebsch, and IPSO in Ripon, Wisconsin. Basically, though, if you find a machine in a big box store, stay away. Maytag puts a "COMMERCIAL TECHNOLOGY" label on just about everything they sell through the big box stores. Don't be fooled. Those are mediocre, and that's giving the worst of it to mediocrity. They also build true "COMMERCIAL" washers, model number MVWP575GW which is available around $800 plus tax and delivery. I just bought the newly available SQ TC5000WN and like it so far.
