These status interactions are pretty much 1 to 1 as they work in Dota. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a new type of crowd control called "leashed" in a couple of months haha
yeah the purge interaction is basically just debuffs and dispels from dota, where you're dispelling a debuff that will turn into a CC or damage in a few seconds like in seven and bebop's cases
I'd say that already applies to Vindicta's stake, in a way. But there's actually a Djinn hero coming up that tethers enemies together, preventing them from walking too far from one another, while sharing all damage between all three tethered enemies.
one key difference seems to be that using the effects that purge/remove debuffs has to be done before hand. Unless it changed, last time I played dota and for years, BKB for example could just be activated soon as you get hit by something and it would remove it. I think this suits this genre better, tbh.
To be clear IceFrog, the lead designer and balancer of Dota2, is the lead designer of this game. All those status effects are basically just ripped straight from Dota2, the terminology is all the same. Which makes me think there should also be disjoints in the game as well. If you use Warp Stone or one of the instant teleport abilities, does it allow you to dodge incoming homing projectiles?
In terms of the distinction between Ivy being pulled by rescue beam and Pocket not. Pocket's dodge takes him Out of play, so his model is not in the game at all and he won't be affected by anything. Ivy on the other hand seems to transform into a state where you are immune to cc and damage, however her model is still in play so allies are allowed to interact with you. Btw very good work on your most recent videos, I love them :)
Yeah that was also my first thought. It's the same as in dota 2, when pocket goes into his suitcase, he's simply not in the map anymore, he doesn't exist. That means he cannot be pulled by the beam. But Ivy on the other hand, just turns invincible.

17:41 I feel like a better term would be intangible rather than invincible. it makes it more clear that it removes the ability for anything to affect your character, including your own character. Pocket satchet, dynamo's teleport, the channel on yamato's ult, ethereal shift etc. All these things can dodge enemy CC but also removes the users ability to do anything as well.
in dota that state is called invulnerable. pocket is very similar to puck in dota, they share pocket's second and third skills. i would imagine they will call it that in the future since basically everything status affect in this game is the same in dota.
@@shigerufan1 outhouse decorator? Yeah for sure. Also shadow demon's disruption. I find it crazy that deadlock has a phase shift you can buy. People call this ethereal shift item this game's eul's but to me its a phase shift because you can cancel it mid duration unlike eul's.
10/10 Guide. Clear, to the point and thorough on every status and counters. Now if people would just understand you can line of sight Seven ult maybe teams will wipe less to a simple press of the '4' key lol.
This video was really informative. Thank you very much for it! I also benefitted a lot from your absolute beginner's guide and other videos. Thank you! Subscribed!!
@@MarcoStyle also a fun little interaction is that you can use bebops hook on teammates. Which makes is sort of like a rescue beam, except it's a skillshot and doesn't provide healing. On the flipside though, it's practically free and can save a stunned teammate or move ults like that of Haze, Seven and Dynamo
@MarcoStyle I'm loving the content! Can I request a specific video idea though? I come from primarily FPS games like Valorant and I've played very little league. Can you make a video explaining some more advanced MOBA concepts for people like me who understand the objectives but don't necessarily understand my priorities? For example, 1. If I get an early kill and push the enemy tower, should I DPS down the first champion/tower, or should I DPS down the enemy minions for souls? 2. How much should I focus on jungling? 3. How good is a first kill? Is it massively helpful, or should I just focus more on farming for the first 5 minutes? 4. If I see a big team fight mid-late game that isn't going well, should I jump in and pile on, or should I push another lane and try to split focus? 5. A lot of builds have a $6,200 item pretty early on. I know that getting that item early would be transformative to my build, however I feel like I am missing out on some value in, say, improved farming that could put me in a better overall place in the future. What do you think of that? These are just a few questions that I could think of that I don't really know the answer to, and would really help with my decision making mid game.
That first question could have several answers that come with a better understanding of match-ups. If you're in a dominant lane, there's no need to force rush the tower if you can't kill it by the time they come back. Clear the creeps, then either put in small damage to tower before the enemy respawns or clear the small jungle next to you if it's up. Then move back to your shop to grab what you can and go back to the wave. You should be back to wave in time for the cross to meet. Try not to miss out on a creep wave, otherwise you're wasting a lot of potential.
Hey man, glad you found your new path forward! I just found the channel looking up deadlock info, I'd love to see some character guides, even if they're not in depth. Perhaps a very quick overview of what every character does in the game would be a good video?
Hey man I've been loving your guides so far they've been amazing, I've been subbed for a long time going all the way back to the destiny days, I was curious, do you think you'll ever make videos of matches themselves? I think it'd be funny to see and watch and you can always learn something by watching someone play as well
for "invincible" the dota terminology is being shifted, mostly because puck's 3 ability is the same as pocket's and is called ethereal shift. Some people also call it being voided for another couple of abilities.
I believe Ivy transforms into stone form and immune to cc and gets 100% dmg reduction while Pocket's Enchanter's satchel physically removes and replaces his model with the satchel, so his character is not there to interact with unlike Yamato's ult or Ivy's stone form
Great video, thanks for all the info! I have a request, could you make a video regarding how to make the most out of the sandbox mode, specifically the bots? I see you managed to make them use items on you or perform specific actions, and knowing how to do that would make it so we can train against certain moves. Unless those aren't bots and are just your pals hahahah
Any info on stacking of slows? I can´t find anything about it. From what I tested in the sandbox so far, only the strongest slow applies (overriding lesser slows). Same for both movement and fire rate. For example, does Point Blank, Mystic Slow, and Inhibitor stack? I think not. The one thing that does seem to stack is Point Blank + Kelvins Slow Beam, as it basically makes enemies stand still when you have maximum stacks and shoot them with PB.
Bro you are killing it with these guides. Will you happen to showcase builds that you use for every character? To help new players have a general idea until we implement our own builds? Also do you stream?
I'm going to be that guy and "ehm actually" you, I'm sorry, this is meant in good spirit and in furthering the understanding of the game. Bebops Hook is not technically a stun, as far as I can tell, it's a silence, disarm, root and displacement which acts as a stun in most cases. The one case where it matters is that it doesn't interrupt channels like sevens ult. That is if we define stun as "complete interruption of your characters actions for a certain duration" You're doing gods work with your guides though, please keep it up I just wanted to contribute
I like this new type of videos but personally I expected the CC video to be on how to do good CC in matches. Don't get me wrong there's a place for both types of videos it's just something that I think a lot of people can benefit from.
How do you use the key settings? Is it better to use the right mouse button to crouch? Hope your channel continues to grow, looking forward to your videos.
Rather than invincible I would recommend "Ethereal". Invincible implies that you can't take damage, but can still be hit/targeted by effects. Ethereal means you cannot be hit nor targeted. For instance, Ivy's Stone Farm is invincible, but still untargeteable. Ethereal shift makes you both invincible and untargeteable.
Good video, but I'm a bit disappointed that you didnt test stacking debuffs, cause you have multiple items that slow either the movement or the rate of fire and I think they stack on one another, however I don't know if they are additive or multiplicative but it's hard to test without a friend
Just an idea cover some concepts keeping in mind for people who are not new to moba but new to fps or 3ps. Since its mix of both genre some of us like myself dont know anything about fps. rather than "invincible" i think of the term "hide", which is the keyword used in dota 2, valve's other moba game. you are hidden away somewhere, not present on the battlefield. i doubt they're going to call it that in deadlocked but we'll see. untargetable is another word used in dota but in that game it's doesn't necessarily mean you're invulnerable too
The comment about Rescue Beam against Pocket makes me wonder if we'll see "Untargetable" in the future as some skills and items require a target to be sort of "locked" in and Pocket's ability seems like an "untargetable" state
As someone coming from games like TF2 I really do hope that stuns get removed eventually. Its really hard to try and get into this game with all the hard CC taking away player agency
I understand where you're coming from, I'm more from a TF2/FPS background myself though I used to play league. They won't remove the stuns, they're an integral part of mobas, but often developers try not to go too crazy with the amount they add. A lot of them are conditional though and you can learn to avoid getting into situations where they'll be able to cc you. And this video provides tons of counters to cc. I hope you continue to play, I think this is a great game and unfortunately I see some TF2 players not giving it a fair shot (not saying that's you though).
It's more considering that Deadlock is more leaned to fps gameplay with how it handles. The fact though that there needs to be a video dedicated on how to counter and negate hard cc speaks as to how intrusive hard cc is to a pvp experience. I have watched the video and been trying to give it my best shot but unless a lot of the hard cc is removed or at least heavily gutted I'll have to give Deadlock a pass. As someone who's still struggling to do eco it's a really rough to feel like everything is a bullet sponge and I just get stunned and die with no way to dodge or otherwise manuver. A more realistic change though is make it so that you can dodge roll out of vertical knock-ups. There's a reason pyros Air blast got changed so it allows the player to maintain air control instead of being a hit stun back when jungle inferno dropped. Sorry for the paragraph. I really want to like this game but as someone who played a lot of PvZ GW2, hard stun mechanics are not fun to deal with even if you know how to avoid and counter them.
