Love the broads and the Wayfarer is just an excellent boat. I’ve always wanted an expedition on one of our East coast rivers with a Wayfarer, a tent and a friend to share the experience.
Wayfarers are a great boat. We have quite an active gang sailing about the Norfolk waterways. Check out Matt Sharman’s youtube channel. Matt is always out and about.👍
The northern broads are great. Hickling is a good start and finish point to a trip. The winds are usually a bit more consistent than the Ant and much of the Bure and there is much less cruiser traffic in the summer. In a wayfarer you can get under the bridge at potter. So you can then head past thurne to acle and beyond. All of which is good sailing. You do really need a small outboard though. You can get short duration broads licences from the broads authority. The staff in the tolls office are always very nice, even if the Tolls are quite expensive these days.
@@2120edm I did a lot of youth sailing camps in the past. This year I was lucky enough to spend a week in Friesland again, was a lot of fun (some rain but plenty of wind). I had plans for renting a narrowboat but I think this trying to rent a sailing boat around your area would be much more fun next year or so. I had a boat like yours (a little bit smaller) in the past (German make), but most Dutch rental boats (e.g. 'Valk' type) are entirely made out of fiberglass reïnforced polyester. A BM-er type has some features that are similar to yours. Older 'Valk' (Falcon) types are also similar, though they have a large keel.
@@johankorten2797 there are some lovely wooden sailing boats you can rent on the Broads. Martham Boats is one of a few companies you could consider. www.marthamboats.com/hire/yachts

Excellent video, some great footage.
As a new wayfarer owner I am interested in getting round this area

Really nice! Seems that the Frysian lakes in the north of Holland and these Broads are very similar!
Yes very much so. I love watching videos of sailing in Holland as I always think they look just like our waterways
