We went looking for hummingbirds at Reserva Zura Loma in Pichincha, Ecuador, where you can hand feed hummingbirds!

I have been feeding Hummers since I don’t know how long. But I’ve never been able to accomplish having one land on my finger. Such fascinating birds unfortunate we only have ruby throat’s where I live.

Love these moments. Several years ago whole living in Morristown TN, I had a small group coming to the feeders. I made a habit of coming in each day from work and sitting with one of the feeders in my hand. A new fledgling figured out the male would not harras her when I was holding the feeder. She would sit in the fruit trees across the street waiting on me each day. I would sit down and she immediately flew to me and could drink her fill. I have an almost 5 minute long video of her sitting on the feeder. I was sad to fall that year.
