It simply stands on a branch next to Sir David Attenborough but every time he wants to speak the bird screeches and won’t let Sir D A speak !!! It’s absolutely priceless !!! ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️
not sure that the birds know they are beautiful. What is knowing? Natural selection selected for fitness. Beauty and mating rituals are a mere proxy to indicate fitness. There is some correlation between having the spare energy to be elaborately displaying superfluous parts of oneself, and fitness. That is all.
You know that when they see "themselves" in their reflections, they think its a friend or just another bird that wants to play? They totally dont know its themselves every single time.

Here in Brazil my boyfriend used to put sugar water for them, but they get trapped in the house sometimes, and would get confused with the window glass, they would get so exousted trying to get out and no longer be able to fly, and then I could pick them up, they literally nap for a while, some accept a drink then fly away, it was truly magical to me, but I asked my boyfriend to stop putting sugar water because in a few occasion some of them would panic and hit the glass really hard, and it felt wrong to attract the poor creatures, also the bees were taking over very aggressively, now I grow basil in a pot, and the bees loves the basil flowers and for some reason the bees are not aggressive with flowers the way they are with sugar water, I love nature and to me love also means respect. Sorry about the long text I just wanted to tell my experience. 😇

I didn’t know !!! Anyway a bit ways across from me is a fire department but no police station so I went to them and showed them the video and they told me that was about 75 to a hundred Puerto Rican hummingbirds so I did the research and I brought equipment for them to feed and bath in so now they have settled on my farm but they drink so much sap that I have Fifteen feeders hung from trees which I have to clean and refill daily but it’s worth it because they are so tiny and beautiful and no bigger than a 1/2 size of a thumb !!! So now I’m not an old retired lady with cats and chickens anymore I have my hummingbirds , my firemen friends and cows and I make mozzarella cheese and different cheeses from their milk which I learned to make in Sicily and my firemen friends get fresh cheese and milk every day so I’m full of life again thanks to my teeny tiny Puerto Rican hummingbirds !!!
