Seriously, great video and your logic is so right on! Good for you going to Paris and cutting out the American SA. It's a purse, yes a very nice purse however, still a purse. If you want it you shouldn't have to play the Hermes game unless you want to. I guess you know how to play the game better than most. Good for you.

Even purseforum, where I felt the most positivity towards luxury purchases, has a lot of negativity and judgment when it comes to buying Birkins and Kellys from Paris. My opinion is the same as yours- your money, your purchase. I couldn't care less where people get their bags. As long as they are happy with it, I don't see the issue. Sometimes I feel like the underlying issue is the old money v. new money judgment game. Old money thinks Birkin buying should start from generations ago, so they look down upon those who just started their collection not too long ago.
you pay excruciating amoung of money for a..bag that doesn't require 50 years of engineering and brains and you have to beg to get that? it's a freakin' piece of leather, a good taylor in thailand will make it for $400
so true. i am at the present hopeful to purchase a birkin from my local small store. as you say i have read and heard so much about "building the relationship and making purchases first" i went in to the store about a month ago and purchased a belt and a bangle - which i only did because i wanted them. I have now made it known that i want a birkin and left my details. however if an implication is made that i need to purchase more items then i will be abandoning my interest because while i would really love a birkin to add to my collection i refuse to spend 000's on items i dont actually want just to get one....... Yes... we want to be treated nicely. I'd buy things from a friendly SA any day, but if the SA has terrible attitude, I'd rather let go of items I like, no matter how rare they are. Paris is pretty much mostly luck, and all the tips in my "Hermes Paris FSH Tips video" just better your chances.

Also, I think countries should actually ban the whole Hermès purchase strategy. Why is it legal when you walk into a store where there are bags in the inventory and they tell you no because they want to lure you into buying things that you actually don’t need? Insane
I don't think that would be an issue since they are the ones who made it possible for people to buy bags in FSH/ Paris. True, I’ve watched many video which people had bad experiences with the sale associates. Like, they’re employees not god. You treat them politely but you don’t have to do everything to please them just for a bag

Somehow I fell down this Birkin video rabbit hole here and I feel sort of dazed. (Ironically I was watching $1 Wish app haul videos, so seriously WTH, RUclips???) I had no idea this was such a ... subculture. I always figured these bags were just status symbols for The Real Housewives of Wherever. (I’M MIDDLE AMERICA POOR! I got all celebratory when I bought a $350 Coach. 😄) They’re beautiful bags, though! And any reason to go to Paris is a good one! 😉💕

I think that the "you have to play the game" is exaggerated. I am not a VIP customer but have a great relationship with my SA and was told "let me know when you are ready for that Kelly". lol I may or may not have started saving that very day.
I'm glad to hear that you have a great relationship with your SA. I think part of the game is taking the time to build a relationship with an SA before thinking about buying any of the popular items. Sometimes the relationship comes naturally (and that's what many people hope for), and sometimes the relationship has to start with the customer buying things that he/she does not actually like.

I disagree with you 100% but still liked your video because you gave your honest opinion. I see where you're coming from, and it's a very modern way of looking at luxury. I'm more old school - there's something special about buying directly from the boutique, helping the SAs by giving them commission (supporting their livelihood directly) and getting to know them so that you're top of mind when they have special inventory.

Back in the days you never had to buy tons of stuff in order to get to buy a bag. That's a modern behavior. So I look at modern and old school in the opposite way than you. I'm from Europe and I only buy what I want in my local store and other European stores. and I'm always treated really nice everywhere. I don't understand why you say you disagree 100%. I think everybody should buy wherever they feel like. Including you. What's right for you may not be the best solution for everyone. We are all different and should respect eachother. Peace!

That behavior is definitely an older, more traditional way of purchasing luxury goods (or really any good). Depending on where you are in Europe, people you know probably still go to the same grocer or same butcher as their families have always been going to for decades. Same kind of behavior with the way I choose to buy Hermes products.

I believe it is one Birkin or Kelly every 6 months. Sometimes this rule changes though, depending on the specific SA and store policy.

Good for you Cherry! You're right! I like their bracelet and own a few but i don't buy it because just to get a Birkin or Kelly. If it's not the exact one that i want, i won't spend more time and wasting money to stay in the store.

I don't think that would be an issue since they are the ones who made it possible for people to buy bags in FSH/ Paris. Somehow I fell down this Birkin video rabbit hole here and I feel sort of dazed. (Ironically I was watching $1 Wish app haul videos, so seriously WTH, RUclips???) I had no idea this was such a ... subculture. I always figured these bags were just status symbols for The Real Housewives of Wherever. (I’M MIDDLE AMERICA POOR! I got all celebratory when I bought a $350 Coach. 😄) They’re beautiful bags, though! And any reason to go to Paris is a good one! 😉💕

OMG, I was just talking about this! I hate rhe Hermes game too and will never play it. All my Hermes bags bought pre-loved from Japan in the exact color, leather and size I wanted. The game is horrible, in my opinion. Brava to you!

Who knows where you got it when you are walking down the street. Honestly it puts me off Birkin having to play a game. I think people who don't like that you got it from Paris either hadn't thought of doing it themselves or can't afford to go to Paris so are jealous.
Yes, I wouldn't be able to tell, especially when those resale market ones are in such great shape. I think some people like to play the H game, and feel the need to force everyone else to do the same.

I think that the "you have to play the game" is exaggerated. I am not a VIP customer but have a great relationship with my SA and was told "let me know when you are ready for that Kelly". lol I may or may not have started saving that very day.
I'm glad to hear that you have a great relationship with your SA. I think part of the game is taking the time to build a relationship with an SA before thinking about buying any of the popular items. Sometimes the relationship comes naturally (and that's what many people hope for), and sometimes the relationship has to start with the customer buying things that he/she does not actually like.
So you have a great relationship with your SA.. so you’ve essentially played the game. Knowingly or unknowingly

I disagree with you 100% but still liked your video because you gave your honest opinion. I see where you're coming from, and it's a very modern way of looking at luxury. I'm more old school - there's something special about buying directly from the boutique, helping the SAs by giving them commission (supporting their livelihood directly) and getting to know them so that you're top of mind when they have special inventory.

Back in the days you never had to buy tons of stuff in order to get to buy a bag. That's a modern behavior. So I look at modern and old school in the opposite way than you. I'm from Europe and I only buy what I want in my local store and other European stores. and I'm always treated really nice everywhere. I don't understand why you say you disagree 100%. I think everybody should buy wherever they feel like. Including you. What's right for you may not be the best solution for everyone. We are all different and should respect eachother. Peace!

That behavior is definitely an older, more traditional way of purchasing luxury goods (or really any good). Depending on where you are in Europe, people you know probably still go to the same grocer or same butcher as their families have always been going to for decades. Same kind of behavior with the way I choose to buy Hermes products.
