    Answer to the first question is not exactly correct in most states you will be required to go to a school to get your CDL but for people that live and say for example Idaho is one of the states where as long as you are interested and you can pass the test you can get your CDL without any schooling this is what I did I have worked for several different companies never once have I been denied for not going to school never once has there been any type of insurance issue I currently work in the oil field and go for a $100,000 a year and never went to truck driving school it is possible if you already have experience pulling a trailer with a pickup and backing up and whatnot it's just a bigger rig not rocket science

    I am currently in the process of becoming a tech but need my cdl for road test/returning trucks. I won't be moving trailers and the company I work for does not require any school attended. I'm wondering if the test to get the cdl is just a written test or I will need to do a road test as well. Located in FL

    • @RoehlTransportInc
      @RoehlTransportInc  4 года назад +2

      That's a really common question. When most people think of refresher cdl training, they imagine getting a shorted program that doesn't cost as much as a full CDL training course. In Roehl's case, we offer paid, on-the-job CDL training, so many people who have let their CDLs expire or who have been out of the truck for a while find our program attractive. Here's why. First, we're not spending the first week working with people to get their learner's permit. Second, our program is paying you while you are learning - so you're earning (not just paying for tuition). Third, because our program is preparing you for the job, it's fast-paced and hands-on. You're back in the truck refreshing your skills, and again, as a former CDL driver, that probably gives you more confidence and a stronger starting point. Plus, you already know much of the process for getting your CDL, which again is helpful. If you'd like more info about getting paid to get your CDL, you can visit our site or call us.

OTR vs. Regional has no real bearing on how long it takes. 120,000 miles divided by 600 miles per day is 200 days. Not even a year's worth of actual days driving. But because of things like the number of hours you're allowed to drive in a set time frame, taking a break, resets, waiting at shippers/receivers, break downs, just plain old getting some rest, and a myriad of job related factors, it takes more than just 200 days to achieve.
