  • In this video, we take a look at what tracked Bluetooth keyboard options are available for the Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro, and how well they are suited for working in VR. Are any tracked keyboards better or worse, and are there other considerations when using the Quest 2 or Quest Pro? Without tracked keyboards being supported on the PICO Neo 3, PICO Neo 3 Link, or PICO 4, should you avoid those devices for working, or will options be available in the imminent future with such apps as Immersed VR? Stay tuned to find out…..

    Great video, quick question
    I’m contemplating getting the MX keys Universal which is only available in Graphite. Would I expect similar tracking issues to the graphite MX Mini you had trouble with?
    I have a Quest Pro and the color path through is great but the experience is heaps better when the keyboard is tracked and appears in VR.

      I think if you are in a well lit area it should be fine. In darker areas or areas with a similar colour desk, it might not track as well as a lighter colour model. So just bare that in mind and you can try it first then make changes if needed such as a desk lamp/lighting, or different coloured desk mat. Hope that helps and hope whatever you choose works out 👍

    I have a question. Can I use a mousepad in k830 to move my real mouse pointer? (especially in horizon workroom)

    • @DayDreamerVR
      @DayDreamerVR  Год назад

      Yes you can, the keyboard needs to be connected to your PC, and it just gets selected as a tracked keyboard in the headset, so the mouse track pad does work 👍

      I tried with immersed, workroom and virtual desktop but I'm not fully satisfied.. I wanna control my desktop in remote condition(both real keyboard and real mouse remotely)
      Have you ever tried this before? If so, can I get an advice to set up?( I just ordered mx mini and would get it within few days)

      I can't quite remember but I think that's quite difficult to do unfortunately, I don't think the headset will fully pass through the keyboard and mouse. There is something called VirtualHere, which might work, but I have only seen it working with PICO devices. Some people use other devices for VirtualHere, like a basic laptop. Let me know if you get it working, I haven't tried it in a while so would be interested to know 👍

    What do you use the keyboard for in the Meta Home world?

    • @DayDreamerVR

      It can be used with a web browser, video streaming apps like RUclips etc, but I mainly just use it for working in VR with an app such as Immersed or Meta Horizon Workrooms

    Can you test the moonlight gamestream app on your quest 2 to see if the keyboard passthrough works?

    • @DayDreamerVR
      @DayDreamerVR  Год назад +1

      Hi, I tried to see if there was a way to get moonlight working on the Quest 2, I've never used Moonlight before, and couldn't get it to work. I do however use Parsec which is similar to Moonlight and you use it in a browser window in the Quest home. As you can use a tracked keyboard in the home environment the keyboard works, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend Parsec as its not the best experience in the Quest home environment. I did ask in the Virtual Desktop Discord whether they will be supporting passthrough portals or tracked keyboards, and they say they are working on it but no timescale was given. The keyboard however does work in Virtual Desktop, you just can't see your keyboard or hands. Hope that helps 👍

      @@DayDreamerVR To install moonlight gamestream you have to enable developer mode in quest 2, then you need to download de apk file and sideload to your quest 2, you can also use steam link, the app doesn't trigger vr mode, it stays in the oculus home, so i guess it will work

    • @BerryTheBnnuy
      @BerryTheBnnuy 4 месяца назад

      @@AdrianGE98It works well enough, but I'm not happy with the tracking... It ended up making me realize something. The hand tracking in my Quest 3 does not at this time get the size of my fingers correct, so it looks like my fingers are a row below where they are on the keyboard. I can touch type just fine, so it's only an issue if I'm looking. If I had to hunt and peck like most people it would be an exercise in frustration.
      For people who their headset detects the hand size for properly, it might not be an issue.
      Also the tracking is a lower framerate than you get with hand and controller tracking. Plus if I look away momentarily it might lose the keyboard until I bump the keyboard or look away and look back again.
      Also to be clear, the one I have is the black one, with the 3 white keys on the upper left. There's also the white one that has those 3 keys being black instead. I've heard the white one tracks better, but I'm using it on a white table, and it seems to more or less track just fine.

    I have the K375s. I connected it to my pc with the first of the three white function/pairing keys on the top. Then, to connect it to my headset, I have to put it in pairing mode which means selecting a function key. As to not delete my connection with my pc, I used the second function key to pair. That worked and I could see my keyboard! Great right? Nope. F1 is connected to my PC. So to type, I have to go back and select the F1 key. And bam, turned off the connection with my headset. Keyboard disappears!! F2 I can see keyboard but not type. F1 I'm typing this with an invisible keyboard. WTH?

      I'm not certain, and can't test as I don't have the keyboard now, but if you press fn (function) then press the f1 does that work without changing to your PC? Hope that helps and if I think/see anything else I'll let you know 👍

      @DayDreamerVR  Год назад

      @@HP-xm1zt so if you press and hold down the "fn" key whilst pressing any of the f1-12 keys it allows you to do the different function that those keys have. I think another way might be to press fn and escape at the same time, so that could be worth trying, I'll keep looking

      @@DayDreamerVR Each function key is paired to its own device. So if I want to see the keyboard in my headset, I press the function key I used to pair my keyboard in meta settings. If I want to go to the meta store for instance, and search for something, my keyboard will work. But I want to use it for my desktop inside my headset. If I want to type this response to you in my headset, like right now, I’ve got my desktop open in my headset, I have to press the function key that’s paired to my pc - and the keyboard disappears. Does that make sense?

      @@HP-xm1zt Sorry its difficult to discuss/assist via this chat, but that does make sense, which app are you using to see your desktop? I used both Immersed and Workrooms, and with those, the keyboard if I remember correctly was passed through the headset, so you didn't have to swap to use it with your PC. Hope you manage to get it sorted, I don't have a keyboard anymore to check/test, but again if I find out anything I'll come back and reply
