Away from family for long periods of time, someone yelling at you or giving orders, waking up early, eating shtty food, sleeping on shtty beds, you can die combat in either situation, fights between inmates/soldiers, PTSD and way more similarities, thats just off the top of my head. Probably way better examples than what I listed.
