- The options for making your own decorative stamps are endless. The stamp or punch I make in todays video is a fairly common style that can add an interesting touch to many of your forged pieces.

I got to remember this one
On the eightteenth day of Christmas the black bear made for me, a decorative punch, meat scewers, a hot dog fork, jingle bels, a candy dish, a paper towel holder, a menorah, BBQ tongs, a stocking hanger, a Christmas tree ornament, a cabinet pull, a dinner bell, a steak flipper, a hose hanger, a bottle opener, a candle snuffer, a nice wreath hook and a beaitifull coat hook.
Today I closed my forge of with welding curtains, as I have seen you do when you were installing the power hamer. Really keeps the cold out. I never even heard of these curtains before, great idea thank you, a lot!!! 🔥😀👍🌞
They are better than an open hole in the wall. Some day I hope for real doors.

That punch came out well! Simple to make but I could see that really making some visual interest on projects.

Thanks for all the videos John, I really love this channel. I made my first bottle opener the other day for a Christmas present and I am so happy with it. Looking forward to trying the barbeque tongs when I get home! I've also been trying to source tool steel so I can make my makers mark, it will be something very similar to the flower you just made, very inspiring.

Hmmm, leather working tools come to mind.
Just and idea for you, maybe you should make these Christmas idea videos during the warmer months. That way you don't have to try and deal with the camera and heating the steel so much. Just set them to the side and save them to put out around Christmas. I can see how quickly your steel is cooling down and have experienced these issues my self. Pull steel out of fire, touch anvil, and hit it about 5 times with your hammer. Then it's too cold to keep going. My issues being a little different because my forge is outside and I use wood. Coal is hard to get in Louisiana without paying exorbitant prices for it or driving hours away from home. It doesn't get as cold here, but still cold is cold when it comes to sapping the heat out of your work.
What is better on a cold day than firing up the furnace and beating metal to keep you warm?
Since i will be in the shop and making videos and products year round, I am not sure it matters. Plus being able to see my breath adds to the feeling that its winter and working in a tee shirt might not.
glad to know your feet are warm but seeing your breath as you handle the steel i can't help but think your fingers are cold .
plus the swamp cooler ad is not relevant this time of year for the northerners
His fingers are much warmer than you'd think. Hot steel warms the fingers quite nicely.

I found a 4 in. The guy wanted 175 dollar I thought that was a little much.
Sure would like to have seen the hardening and tempering of the S-7 Tool Steel. Otherwise, I enjoyed the video.
There really isn't much to see. Heat to 1725 cool in air then temper. I am sure we will have a chance to cover it again in a future video.
now you the sae mak hammer how are you doing with the back log and does tje misses still forge?
The backlog of orders is all caught up. My wife doesn't do any forging anymore, she is to busy weaving rugs
Is S7 good for knives
I wouldn't think so
It can be used but it’s not ideal. It’s a shock resistant steel so I might work ok for a khukri or a machete.
i want some decorative die, how i find in odisha, india
