Woah!My eye. You almost got me again Roy. lol great video. I'm going to have to watch this with my youngest this is what got her into blacksmithing. she had to make a heart for everybody. All her teachers, grandmas, grandpas you get the picture.👍👍
Roy, another great video and as I'm slowly getting back into forging (knives mostly) I'm slowly getting into blacksmithing because I'm taking your advice and not be a one trick pony so to speak. Watching you make mistakes in this video made me realize that even with all your years at the anvil everyone goofs up lol. Also please thank your wife for getting back to me the other day and I hope she told you what I wrote in the PM. So God bless you and your family and I look forward to the next video.
I just started my forging journey a month or so ago but your heart seemed like it was doable so I lit the forge today and gave it a shot and it came out pretty well -- thanks for the great videos.
Quick money is good, any day. Especially if you can pound out a half dozen for the table, and demonstrate the process. I have found some simple items sell well, when you show the customer what is involved, 'sometimes' at least. Great video Roy!
Perfect timing with this video Roy, with 7 days to go for my first market, I think these will be a great item to take with me. You just planned a portion of my day. 👍
Thanks for the inspiration. I've done some similar to this except I have the fold at the top of the heart. I tried making one the other day and was having difficulty because I was using some thick flat stock, and I was using a hammer to bend the curves rather than pliers. Watching this helped me realize there's an easier way to do it: work with round or square sock to get it to shape and then flatten it. I'll go forge one right now. :)
You are a true inspiration for us beginners, who think for themself can we even make a buck in this profession/hobby. Asked around, simple doorlatches go for 25 bucks a piece here (Finland) I can make 5 of those an hour, so i better get my hammer.
That is really a nice idea for beginners. I think if the heart is made of a bit smaller material, copper perhaps it would be a gread decoration for the crhristmas tree. Together with a red band. Should go really nice. Or do a little twist in the bar first to give the heart a little extra. Thanks for that great video
I've been looking for something to make for a wedding gift, and this is perfect. I'll probably link two of these together and snack their initials or names into each heart
Great video!....I appreciate that...have a demo coming up and that's just the ticket for sure. Wow! I'm pumped! Really looking forward to it now.Good work & thank you Roy...Great job!
@@ChristCenteredIronworks you got a good disposition and a straightforward way of putting forth helpful knowledge. I deem it worthy of sharing. Keep up the good work.
For a more advanced piece you can then celery weld onto a straight piece of bar then mount it to a shaped base plate (tenon and mortise) to make a cute little statue of a heart... with a substantial increase in price too.
Nice job on the heart there Roy. It looks like a really good way to make a few bucks rather quick. Great video sir! Happy New year and here's to an all new beginning of all new projects for the new year. Keep up the great work sir!
If you mean 3/8 of an inch, it's almost 1cm = 10mm. Not the 1,5mm you gave us. But I like the video. You're a very good channel, one of my favorites. God bless you!
I love to watching your videos sir am a blacksmith sir some times iron start crack when am hammering please help me in this sir am very thankful to you
Rio Grande has the capability of making any type of Mark you would like. I have several videos on how to make your own on the channel and I also have made a few for other creators:-)
Not hating as I like the idea but, asking $20 for .30¢ of metal that is roughly pounded into a heart won't sell anywhere I've been. Need more time spent on refining the result. If one were to take the time refine the presented results in the video, perhaps $14- $17 is possible but as presented it looks kind of backyard, unprofessional, not artisian produced in anyway. Too heavy of rod, for the size project for most of my clients taste. Nice video, well presented, result was just not up to professional artisian standards. At least not to mine, in my opinion.
Yeah but when you set up a stand in a festival and people look and say "oh thats cute" theyd be willing to pay 10-15 dollars because they arent experts and they just want something to show for going. Theres this guy that bends spoons into rings and sells them for five dollars a piece, probably making like 40 dollars an hour without putting almost any effort into it. Its hystericle

Very nice work Roy, as usual. Thanks for posting this wonderful beginner project that helps force the practice of a basic skill - the taper.
Thanks for all your videos!! I just made my first blacksmith's heart.
Very nice thank you for sharing this Roy be blessed
Who would dislike this
I'm sure there's somebody out there who would, lol
Thanks for this video Roy, I may try making a few of these of different sizes tomorrow for the wife to hang on the wall.
Very cool.

That's a great idea! Thanks for watching. ~Jessica
Thinking curl one end tip backwards for a hanging ring at the top.
I need to put two thumbs up but there is only one thumb option. Thank you.
Great project and great video - well explained and great teaching camera shots. I will have to give that a go for sure! Thanks for the idea!
Nice little piece Roy! You make it look so easy.
Thanks William :)
Love to see someone use a coal forge I love to blacksmith not many people use coal forges
Roy uses both coal and gas forges. The coal makes a nicer demonstration. ~Jessica at Christ Centered Ironworks
Great video!....I appreciate that...have a demo coming up and that's just the ticket for sure. Wow! I'm pumped! Really looking forward to it now.Good work & thank you Roy...Great job!
Nice Roy I made one this morning it took me about an hour though, glad to see you making some small projects again
Very cool bro ty.. simple idea for a quick 20 bucks ..
I like that project. I'm going to share that with my smithing buddies. Thanks Roy!
Thanks for watching and sharing :)
@@ChristCenteredIronworks you got a good disposition and a straightforward way of putting forth helpful knowledge. I deem it worthy of sharing. Keep up the good work.
Awesome, way better than making lots of leafs but leave's teach hammer skills better
For a more advanced piece you can then celery weld onto a straight piece of bar then mount it to a shaped base plate (tenon and mortise) to make a cute little statue of a heart... with a substantial increase in price too.
Your 1K like from me and well deserved Roy. Love this project and your expertise. Thanks as always
A lot better than the how to video I made!! Love your videos roy
Nice job on the heart there Roy. It looks like a really good way to make a few bucks rather quick. Great video sir! Happy New year and here's to an all new beginning of all new projects for the new year. Keep up the great work sir!
Great video and great project. Sorry I haven't been as active as of late just not as much time to watch unfortunately. God Bless.
Nice job Roy, Thanks
Thank you John
Thanks for the dimensions as a beginner blacksmith I have watched many videos so few if any give any measurements God Bless
awesome content
I make a smaller version of these. I hang it on a leather cord and I get 20 dollars each for them at the craft fair.
great video...thank you for the metric...
The size would be sold in Europe as 10mm :D
If you mean 3/8 of an inch, it's almost 1cm = 10mm. Not the 1,5mm you gave us. But I like the video. You're a very good channel, one of my favorites.
God bless you!
wounder if ya can make one cold roll..i don't have an anvil or heat but i do have a metal bender from harbor freight ?
In America you can sell this heart for 20 bucks ??? !!!
You are lucky... used to work all day for such cash
Very nice project. Are these type items what u started with to make money and what different avenues did you use to sale them?
Yes, I started forging with items similar to this. Forged hearts such as this one could be sold at craft shows or on Etsy.
Nice job Roy, you need to tighten down vise
I love to watching your videos sir am a blacksmith sir some times iron start crack when am hammering please help me in this sir am very thankful to you
joey calls that drop forged
grayem pepper
Beat me too it :-)
I forget what is the thing you put in your anvil to cut that a little bit
Nice work Roy. Love your wooden blacksmith intro figure where did you get it?
My Dad made it for me for Christmas
Christ Centered Ironworks that is so cool.
What do you call the axe tool to cut the steel??
Would like to see an ichthys or fish symbol for Christ.
Great video Roy. I am wanting to get a touchmark, where would one go to get one made?
Take a look at www.buckeyeengraving.com/ or you could try making your own for now.
Rio Grande has the capability of making any type of Mark you would like. I have several videos on how to make your own on the channel and I also have made a few for other creators:-)
Nice vid Roy.
Where did you get the little blacksmith dude in the new intro, he is cool!!!
the real question is which blacksmith youtuber had one first? seems to be spreading?
20 bucks! Hahah idk about that. Maybe 2 or 3 bucks, If you sell those for 20 bucks then damn!
I'm more amazed that someone would pay $20 for it
Not hating as I like the idea but, asking $20 for .30¢ of metal that is roughly pounded into a heart won't sell anywhere I've been. Need more time spent on refining the result. That's the great thing about the free market it doesn't have to be at your standards in order for someone to find value in it.
Yeah but when you set up a stand in a festival and people look and say "oh thats cute" theyd be willing to pay 10-15 dollars because they arent experts and they just want something to show for going. And they dont know its 30 cents of steel or how they make it, so "hand crafted" sounds all the more cool to them
