- Best way to Rig Geecrack Bellows Shad #fishing #fishingvideo #bassfishing
Great lure for the upcoming spring! from prespawn to spawn, the bass will be destroying them bluegills! Free rig is an amazing way to fish plastics as an alternative to Texas rig or even Carolina rig! Спорт
Love the free rig. You can swim it, hop it through the water column, or near the bottom. Super versatile. Tight lines out there!
One of the best! :)
Smelly, but they do catch fish even on high pressured waters.I use cheb-rig 3-5 gr. and try not to lift it more then a few inches of the bottom.
That smell does help! 🙌
Thank u for helping us. You’re so good at it
Happy to help!
Awesome rigging video!
Thx mate
Fine rigging!
Bass be sluuuuurping it up
Put a black bead in there between the hook adn weight and you have a real free rig.
Bead helps with the knot I heard. But what do u use it for?
@@rawrfishing Friction protection against the knot and to prevent the weight from coming over the hook eye or knot and getting hung up there.
It's more of a best practice. I fish with a guy that is all about catching the little details and calling you out if you miss one. He got me on the bead with the same thing I said to you and my response was the same. I cannot argue with him on the logic of it.
@@TravisDoesKayakFishing no, can't argue. Imagine a fish of a life time hits and I needed that one extra insurance for the knot to not fail!
Those are great dipped in catfish goo.
Not sure what that is. But these got scent aleady
@@rawrfishinghe’s talking about catfish dip bait/punch bait, I believe.
Why the drop shot weight instead of a bullet weight? I get that it's rigged Texas-style (sorta) because the weight is "slip-rigged" like a bullet weight would be, but I would think a bullet weight wouldn't snag nearly as much. Is the action of the drop shot weight that much different/better? Def gonna try it, lol.
That's a Free Rig
This is called free rigging. The weight drops faster than a cone weight allowing the plastic to freely drop after the weight hits the bottom. It also casts further as the weight can swing forward all the way given that it touches the line way less.
This isn't to replace the t rig for weedy waters. It's for more open water. Give it a shot! You will find it useful as a jika rig too! Try floating lures as well!
Just curious, the way that you rigged that, it appears the Bellows Shad would lie flat (horizontal) in the water, where you'd actually want it to run vertically. You’d want to run the hook thru the smaller top side or bottom side. I know because I made this mistake when I first started using this bait and I couldn’t figure out why my shad looked like it was swimming on its back, not on its belly (with its back pointed upward towards the sky). I was watching a RUclips video when Alton Jones Jr said something that made me visualize the Bellows Shad in my mind and I saw how I was rigging it wrong. Be well.
I fish em this way with success too, I get em more this way for some reason. But I have fished it the way you described too
@@rawrfishing That’s interesting, good to know. That’s interesting. I just assumed the bass would want the lure to more closely resemble a swimming shad, not a shad that is lying down- glad I didn’t bet on it, I would’ve lost the house! Be well and thanks for the video!
Lol, fish sometimes are not as picky as some other fish. I lost to a twizzler fishing challenge once.. So yeah.. Never bet on fishing haha
Owner flashy swimmer and I fish it like a fluke - killer big fish bait
Could work for sure!
Where do u order all your Japan baits an lures for trout?
Www.baitfinesseempire.com is where I get all mine!
What knot do you tie?
Uniknot is king
@@rawrfishingenter: trilene knot
How many grams/oz was that tungsten weight?
Don't remember, but maybe 1/8th Oz. U use the weight for ur waters! 👍👍
The spearpoint guy used to live in my town and sold his hooks at our bait shop. He always hooked us up with free hooks and gear
That's pretty cool! And which part of country was that at?
@@rawrfishing he was in fresno California
ahh! other side of the country lol. east coast here near philly! but that's nice of him!
What hook is this and you got the bait and weight from tackle warehouse
This is a spearpoint hook brand. Don't need to use exact. I think a weedless worm hook of your choice for the free rig is the way to go. It's simply a Tungsten bell weight. I don't use TW
@@rawrfishing thanks and tight lines
I use the smaller version from japan for surf perch and striper fishing
Oh cool! Sounds deadly
@@rawrfishing yup. Carolina rig and drop shot but I’m gona give that rigging you shared a shot
I like free rig! But sure
I've been waiting for Z-man to make a thinner profile segmented flat sided shad or leech for ages. Still waiting😅 maybe the bellows shad hype will catch on with them too.
My go to lures for bank fishing for walleyes in urban cities at sunset when I was a kid was a Texas rigged powerbait leech.
They don't make them anymore nor do they make many thin flat sided leech like lures on the market.
I love how flat sided lures slowly glides through the water column and flip to their side when twitched/jerked. Kind of mesmerizing.
Maybe one day soon! I think it would be a great offering for zman! I love how their lures fall slower! The finesse game is strong with slower falls! 👍
Geecrack now makes these In elastomer now 😁
Try the Keith leech!! They really cool for walleye!!
That bait is just like Carl’s 10,000 fish yotto worm, and an actually works good in the morning time for some reasons, but I wouldn’t say it’s a fishing plastic to go to, it’s more of a pond plastic, or private fishery nice presentation. If it was a loose knot away from the hook, that would let it play in the water while dangles a little more than phone straight down all the time believe it or not when that weight falls back sometimes it transfers quicker than you believe we will understand or see, nothing works the same 6 feet under 10 feet under as it does 3 feet in front of you and water columns and leak ain’t the same like they’re inside of a pool and hungry fish on TV. I hit anything just like stocked bass in stock trout.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I fished this a few times only in ponds. And my lakes are relatively shallow here. Average of 3 ft or so.
The yoto worm is way thinner. I use them as chatterbait trailers. I guess they're similar in that they're ribbed. I use both.
@@davidrussell9290 I would say thinner, but not way thinner and when you’re putting it on as a trailer, you’re getting the same affect depending on where you fish the Yoda worm and that ain’t worth a shit!!!! I got plastics. I’ve made out of old plastics that caught more fish than half these RUclipsrs wanting people to like things because they’re catching fish on a stocked pond!!! that’s why I don’t like fishing golf courses because I can snatch 5 pound bass out of there like it’s nothing and I got to do is go to my Fishbrain and you can see but either way tight lines brother and be safe and God bless
Those look deadly for the saltwater, there gnarly worms that look very similar.
oh neat! what would you be fishing for?
@@rawrfishing snook, snapper, grouper, flounder, sea trout, redfish and others should bite that lure
you using a 4/0 hook?
I believe this is a 3/0. It's been a while lol
@@rawrfishing ahhh ok. Figure you would be fishing them all the time. I used a screw lock in the nose and a 1/0 sickle hook just playing with it to see the action on it. Very nice. Im seeing bridge pilings and a free fall beside them for spotted bass and stripers in my lake...
Too expensive for my taste lol. I fish smaller lures ususally. I have gotten this as a gift
What size hook?
I believe 3/0... It was in a box of mixed hooks...
Thank you
Cool approach! What hook are you using?
Thx, was using the ewg hook from spearpoint performance hooks
That looks like one of those parasites on that show monsters inside me
Ahh. I think u saw the liver fluke?
@@rawrfishing yea
Simply a yotto made by Karl's, been around a while
Other way around. This has been out before Karl made plastics!
Free rig I use a granda bass air tail
Never tried that one, but I love trying new stuff
Dolive ss Gill, deps deathadder stick, dolive stick 4.5, deps bullflat any size, bellows Gill and sticks as well
I had bought this bait, but still didn't get a fish.... I trying to fishing mahseer...
Keep trying! It's a good lure
It's called a free rig
Correct... As stated in the desc
Bro looks so sick. China lures are better than USA lures
Japanese my friend... Japanese
Okay
it's a normal free rig,nothing special🤷♂️
Like your comment! Nothing special right?
Wrong
You know your water best!
