    Ive watched a lot of Fusion tutorials to learn specific things, but this is best video for how it all works together. Gave me way more understanding and a willingness to just try stuff and work things out.

    Hi Jay, I have just watched the first 20 minutes of your video, I like the way are putting it across. No point going any further, for now, otherwise, I will just confuse myself. I will keep rerunning the first part for now. Only one thing left to say. Jay, I know what you got for Christmas. I can feel your presents. Haha sorry for the bad star wars puns.

      @Jay Lippman another question had problems downloading and watching the effects from action vfx on my windows laptop. Is that normal or am I doing something stupid??.

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  2 года назад

      What were you using to play them? Most standard video players won’t work because of the codec. You should be able to play them in your NLE though

    since you have that mask clip already, wouldn't it be easier to just plug that directly into the mask input of the forest merge node instead of multiplying it with the forest and then having to lumakey out the background?

    Can you do the exact same thing in the edit page just by using composite tools?

    Thank you so much for the tutorial. I just found you from your interview with Casey Faris. I've seen the fusion tab at the bottom of resolve a few times but it's always been intimidating. I do talking head videos, so I was curious if you had any suggestions on different effects I should look into to enhance that kind of video (I'm very new, so anything helps). Your tutorial inspired me to give something a try but I'm not sure what would work for my content style. Thanks!

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  2 года назад +1

      You can do a lot with talking head videos, but I would start with simple things like punch ins, zooms, pans, and maybe a handheld effect. Thanks so much for watching!

    Excellent tutorial!! I am following along well but It does get very quick at the third segment , I just gave up at 33:00.

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  2 года назад +1

      I purposefully get quicker as the video goes on, to try and help you wrap your head around it and make it a little more natural. But you made it to 33 minutes! That’s amazing!

    Love you video, been trying to learn fusion for a while now. How does someone learn and become proficient with fusion? What type of education path does it take?

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  2 года назад

      There is an official Fusion certification course that’s free, so that’s a good place to start, but beyond that for me it’s all about practicing, just like anything else. Pick an effect and play around with it to see what it does, then add some more effects on top of that.

    HI Jay, Have you ever done a video on how you setup your black magic. The only reason I stay with sony and not Black magic cameras, my sony has a flip screen and a little remote. I can start/stop to my hearts content. With Black Magic...when you are in front of the camera how do you control it remotely? Cheers, S

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  2 года назад +1

      Great question! I should do a video about that! The short answer is I use an external monitor to see myself, and the Bluetooth+ app on my iPhone and iPad to control the camera.

      @@JayLippman Thanks Jay...that is the main problem I have with Black Magic...they still have the IPHONE/IPAD app thing going on. I try to keep things simple. That is why I dropped from Full Frame Canon down to the Sony A6400...that little screen and a remote keep it simple. No extra app, devices, just the screen with a red button/start/stop...I love Black Magic...I still think the colors from it are better than the Sony A7SIII...the only challenge is usability... Great videos by the way! Cheers S

    Hello, one question please which program is the best for RUclips davinci or vegas or Adobe Premiere Pro which one will you choose

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  2 года назад

      They're all great for RUclips. It all depends on the type of videos that you want to make. Vegas is great for content creators who want more options than beginner software can give you, but don't need ALL the pro features that Premiere or Resolve. If you want those pro features though, you have to go with Resolve or Premiere, and that's just a matter of choosing which workflow you like best

    Why did you not use magic mask instead of manually rotoscoping?

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  2 года назад

      Order of operations. Fusion processes happen prior to color page processes, so I can’t use magic mask on a clip prior to putting it in a fusion composition.

    Hi, very nicely explained. One suggestion, please consider loosing the repetitive music, it distracts when one is trying to concentrate on your excellent tutorial.

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  2 года назад

      Thanks for the suggestion. I probably won’t lose the music, but I will admit that the mix was a bit off in this one. Just got new near field monitors, and I’m still getting used to how they sound. My music is usually much lower than this. Sorry about that.

    Jay, I haven’t even seen your video yet, but after trying to get my head around fusion. I have come to the conclusion. That your name needs to be Luke; your father has to have a bad case of Asma and you need to be able to feel the force. Without getting arrested. to learn fusion.

    • @JayLippman

      Lol that’s how I felt about it too. Start slow, then each time you dive in, try and push yourself a little bit further than you did before!

    Just starting to view this tutorial.
    BUT You are dead right that it better to make a tutorial when you still don´t take every step for granted and jump and forget to show the small steps as those who knows it in and out.
