Hello there team Qaz ! Big question, cause i'm kinda confused now. Corrwct me if i'm wronf in the steps of the workflow. 1st denoise 2 cst aces 3 use color checker grid for perfect color correction 4 5 6 whatever grade Last node cst rec709 Anything wrong in this workflow, or sthm to save up time Thank you very muuuich
I have often done my corrections using gain, gamma and lift and was not really satisfied with the colour results. Next time I’ll use that offset tool and balance it all out! Thanks for the very useful hints and infos packed in such a sweet tutorial!! 🚀✨
I love how you’re speaking your thoughts like how a beginner would think, I can totally relate because those were the things I was thinking hahaha. Learned a lot, thank you! ✨
One of your best tutorials yet! Simple and powerful. Love it! You really demonstrate how this approach it's the one that makes the more sense when it comes to balancing an image. It's a great workflow and a time saver too, which is great because, as you say, balancing all the footage is one of the most time consuming (and also kind of boring) tasks. Thank you! It's so great to have you as a teacher!
wow, damn! I've never questioned how TEMP and TINT work, simply trusted that they would do what i expected. Though I didn't really use them to change temp and tint as I was able to work with raw footage most of the time, that's a really interesting point you're making and proves that we should consider reviewing what or nodes do more often using the greyscale. THANKS A LOT man!
I'm coming from Premiere and am used to doing things completely different. Your tutorials are really helping me to get acquainted with Resolve really fast. Thanks.
Wow that is very valuable insight! Here I was thinking the Temp/Tint are the moest non-destructive tool within the Primaries. Such a simple yet powerful demonstration! Finally I get why I sometimes can't get my balance right when using Temp/Tint, even in cases where the image doesn't seem so far off that should unsalvageable. Thanks for this!
Thanks! I asked pro colorist so many times: "what's the difference in balancing your image between temp/tint, primary wheels, offset and curves? - Do as you like, it doesn't matter!" It DOES matter. Thank you so much for this!
Best video you ever made! This perfectly explained to me step one! Getting the image balanced first with Offset then start grading 🙏 thanks so much! You're the best, man!
great tutorial as always. i just have one thing to say, please share the image you are working on with your audience if it's possible so when you do something, we can try it too on the spot. thanks man. you are truly a great teacher.
This video particularly is GOLD!! I am sooo thankful for all your knowledge and work to share it, the grey scale image is a genius move and it just became so clear all of the sudden!! You really inspire me and certainly a lot of other people, I am considering to take your master class one day! Keep it up bro 🔥🔥
This is such an informative video that explains how it works and why other ways don't so well. So easy to understand. Is there a way of achieving this Offset option easily inside Final Cut Pro? I would love to know if its an option
Hey, great work you do. I finally started coloring a movie of mine with resolve and fortunateley watching yours and other resolve tutorials to learn about coloring in general helps a lot :) how do you get the rgb picker to show up in your waveforms/vectorscopes? as you did at 14:45 for checking skintones
@@theqazman Haven't stopped learning! Thank you for all the help you give this community! My career was greatly fast tracked through your content and masterclass. I can't thank you enough.
Hello Waqas Qazi, many thanks for yours videos. i've a question....Do you know how I should set the "Color Space Transform" node for a ZCAM e2 camera ? There is no such camera in the list...
What an excellent tutorial thank you Qazi ! ... guys qazi is a busy guy help... why cant i use my numpad to change the yelow values!!! am i not pressing something or do i have to be in a specif section ??? im coming in from premier so this is all alien to me
Wow, this the best vid you've done! Thanks a million. Also, how do you get that little colour picker thing that shows the circles in the scopes when you hover over an area? Looks super useful
That was bomb ..., I have a doubt , before even we correct our images , can we colour manage the image in settings ? and then finally funnel it to the rec 709? (for eg : like using DaVinci wide gamut for log footages which will help us in getting better push and pull for blacks and highlights, and finally use CST's )
Hey Waqas, Love the video! so much good content Had a question, and seen you do it alot, but how do I enable the hover indicator to see what parts of the image fall into what parts of the graph?
Would you recommend starting with offset for WB vs temp and tint to get things balanced? I feel like I’ve seen you take both approaches, but maybe I’m missing something and need to circle back. I feel offset is the way to go, but you’re the pro! Just trying to establish a workflow.
I didn't understand the order in this video, the grain is the last layer? Or is it the first but you just do it last. The nodes are right to letf here?
What control within the software are you using to “minus” the offset colors? I’m assuming by “one click,” you’re referring to a hardware knob? I watched back a couple times but could not tell what you’re actually adjusting when you “minus yellow” for example.
I have to admit watching RUclips videos about colour grading stresses me out so much because legit everything everyone says its different from what I learnt in school so now I dont know who to follow
I know you mentioned temp/tint shifts anchor the black point, but what happens when the person incorrectly set their WB? Would that change how that's incorporated into the balance/pre-grade?
Is their a reason behind putting the white balance node ahead of the exposure node? You mentioned node order is everything yet some of your other videos show the white balance node after the exposure one or on the same node altogether.
There will be less data to work with in second node if I fix exposure first. Same reason cst comes last. Can you link a video where he does exposure before WB
I’m trying to reach you via email but no luck there so Im ganna try it here . Do I get access to video materials from your RUclips tutorials if I sign in to your master master class? And I also want to know if I sign into your master class do I get help with my own materials because the most materials you have a really calm and slow paced but my camera movements are really fast. I’m working with a lot of dancers ,and I am dealing with a lot of product videos . I’m using a lot of in camera handheld transitions like Daniel Schiffer it’s really a lot of dynamics in my videos, and I’m wondering is there any colour grading techniques tips and tricks to my styling of shooting videos?

Man where was this on Monday when I was struggling with balancing a complex lighting scene. That black point tip is clutch. So Simple. Chef's kiss

Thank you. Way to explain the technical underpinnings of the Offset tool
Absolute genius
Thank you Qazi
Am gonna practice this immediately
its been 2 and half year i am learning from u....its a great learning curve...thank u so much for putting these extra ordinary effort...♥️
Love the vignette cleanup technique. I've used it a few times already.
Thanks! I asked pro colorist so many times: "what's the difference in balancing your image between temp/tint, primary wheels, offset and curves? - Do as you like, it doesn't matter!" It DOES matter. Thank you so much for this!
that behavior of the temp/tint on the greyscale prior to balancing reminded me of the primaries/log video 🔥 powerful
Qazi with another fastball of knowledge straight to our brains, love it!
Love it Qazi! thanks a lot for you explanation, made a really clear point! It won't be as easy with different sources of light...
Thanks for the great tutorial, really helpful!
genuinely useful video, thanks!
Insanely helpful tutorial once again!:)) just loved it thanks!

Glad you loved it. FCM fam 💪🏾
This is really really well explained
great tutorial as always. i just have one thing to say, please share the image you are working on with your audience if it's possible so when you do something, we can try it too on the spot.

Offset control method for balancing is genius. This is what I was missing thank you
You're welcome
You are my hero
Super helpful tutorial!
What shortcut/ key do you use to nudge the Printer lights by one or one half value?
Without the while balance image looked so goood
Brutal!
This video particularly is GOLD!! I am sooo thankful for all your knowledge and work to share it, the grey scale image is a genius move and it just became so clear all of the sudden!! You really inspire me and certainly a lot of other people, I am considering to take your master class one day!

Hey, great work you do.

how do you get the rgb picker to show up in your waveforms/vectorscopes?
as you did at 14:45 for checking skintones
Amazing information as always! How do I see values in ref to my scopes when I hover over part of the image?
Great video Waqas! How does this compare to raw controls? Would you op to balance with raw controls or the method in this video?
Thanks great one! Am I the only one who would like the green ish tint as a grade lol.
I never knew that the WB and TINT tool didn't affect the shadows. This is great info. Thank you bro! FCM!
Hey bro, been a long time. FCM fam ✊🏾
@@theqazman Haven't stopped learning! Thank you for all the help you give this community!

Great👌👌👌
Super helpful! how do you get that ring on the waveforms to tell you where your levels are using the qualifier tool?
cheers!
Hey man ! Very good video here !! I just wonder when you say « substract the yellow » how do you do that ?😅
How do you subtract accurately let’s say -1,-2 for an specific color? 12:18
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, you’re the best !!
Thanks for a great video! At 5:25, how did you access the greyscale image view to check the image? Thank you!
Hello Waqas Qazi, many thanks for yours videos. i've a question....Do you know how I should set the "Color Space Transform" node for a ZCAM e2 camera ? There is no such camera in the list...

Freaking Magical!!!
Yet another excellent tutorial. Thanks, Qazi!
Wow, this the best vid you've done! Thanks a million. Also, how do you get that little colour picker thing that shows the circles in the scopes when you hover over an area? Looks super useful
Thanks. Watch my video on scopes and I take you through it.
What keyboard shortcut where you using to adjust the Offset parameters?
Amazing video as always. So, you recommend film grain at the top of the chain?
Yes, watch the webinar if you wanna know why I do that. 💪🏾
I mean, the auto color was pretty good :D
That was bomb ..., I have a doubt , before even we correct our images , can we colour manage the image in settings ? and then finally funnel it to the rec 709? (for eg : like using DaVinci wide gamut for log footages which will help us in getting better push and pull for blacks and highlights, and finally use CST's )
How do you put yellow down on the offset? With which bottons? Thanks!
What you can say about chromatic adaptation fx? Saw video on RUclips. It works great with log footages. Thanx 4 video. Sorry about my English.
good. but when do we apply lift gamma gain for colour correction without getting strange shifts and non linear then??
Hey Waqas, Love the video! so much good content
Had a question, and seen you do it alot, but how do I enable the hover indicator to see what parts of the image fall into what parts of the graph?
did u find out in the meantime :,) ?
What's that plug in that tell the location of the picker in the scopes?
Hi Qazi. 1 question. I have a benq PD2500q monitor with 100sRGB mode and a REC 709 mode. Which one is best for color correcting & grading?
Question. Is the big color wheels based on screen resolution or black magic color panel controller?
Was it showing the green being adjusted instead of blue when you were subtracting yellow from offset?
Nice
what key do you press to have a circle in your scopes when you checked the skintones?
Would you recommend starting with offset for WB vs temp and tint to get things balanced? I feel like I’ve seen you take both approaches, but maybe I’m missing something and need to circle back. I feel offset is the way to go, but you’re the pro! Just trying to establish a workflow.
Oof I wish I finished the video before posting this. For the most part you definitely answered the question. You rule man
Is there a way to do it on HDR or should we start on offset?
I didn't understand the order in this video, the grain is the last layer? Or is it the first but you just do it last. The nodes are right to letf here?
Could you pls talk about remove banding color video next time ? 🙏🏻
nice bro video
Do a vid on how to get a The Sinner look :(
How did you subtract yellow and magenta? Are you using a mouse or a controller? 12:56
@12:02 Waqas has a "colorized" waveform. How do I change the waveform to represent that?
What control within the software are you using to “minus” the offset colors? I’m assuming by “one click,” you’re referring to a hardware knob? I watched back a couple times but could not tell what you’re actually adjusting when you “minus yellow” for example.
Same.
printer light hotkey
How do you subract exact numbers of certain colors? 12:46
how to hover certain part of the image and saw it in the scopes
14:45 How do you make the vectorscope show circle when you hover on a selected color using eyedropper tool such as on this skin tone example?
Ya I was wondering that, seems handy
What color science are you working in under color management?
So why did the footage turn so green after the Rec709 conversion?
where can i found reference for color grading.is there any website ?
I have to admit watching RUclips videos about colour grading stresses me out so much because legit everything everyone says its different from what I learnt in school so now I dont know who to follow
your results seem very legit and polished, im deffo going to be attempting your advice and see how that fits into my workflow
I know you mentioned temp/tint shifts anchor the black point, but what happens when the person incorrectly set their WB? Would that change how that's incorporated into the balance/pre-grade?
I mentioned that in the video and how to do it properly. Watch the video again.
