Your way of breaking down complexity for visual learners is awesome and unique. Mixing in the comedy, absurdity and sarcasm is extremely engaging. Please never stop! 😂
I’ve never used my brain so hard watching someone explain how toast is made. I never thought it be explained this way but it was amazing. Thank you so much
with all this free content that you keep working on. I can't even begin to imagine what would your paid tutorial be like. This channel what makes RUclips great.
🔥EPIC! Great break down of Nodes 101, Four types of nodes and HOW they interact, and WHY they interact so we can better make them work together. The humor aspect, keeping us entertained WHILE educating! EPIC! Thank you.
NOT IN MY 50+ YEARS HAVE I ENJOYED A TUTORIAL THIS MUCH! AWESOME - I was converted to use DVinci (even got a new laptop to handle this!) BECUASE OF YOUR TUTORIALS ... just awesome dude! oh toast will never be the same again!
Dude you have no idea the kind of epiphany I had with this video, I've been working in the production side of VFX for more than 15 years (the artists I work and have worked with use mostly Nuke) and have a pretty good notion of how things work at an empirical level, when I started fooling around with Fusion after leaving After Effects to make cool videos with my kids I felt completely lost. Moving from layers to a tree was overwhelming. Watching this unlocked what I needed to know to start applying what I know, Thanks man!
Thank you. I took the toast analogy and use water flowing in a pipe line. Then I add valves to add in the effects to the main pipeline. Helped me understand Fusion without the calories. 😊
I've seen a couple of Casey's toast videos before. The most recent one he did was the video that I watched several times to start wrapping my head around Fusion. It seems he updates the video every so often, which is nice to update the workflow to the current version of Fusion.
Great idea for the lesson. For the beginners everything new seems difficult and such a playful manner of explanation really helps to step over the doubts and to start learning with pleasure. Thanks for sharing!
My favorite part was the song! That was some serious beat making! But truly it my favorite part was the whole video. It was amazing, I really feel like I understand nodes now, and it was a joy to watch. Thank you so much for making this!
The toast example was so helpful!! Seeing you interact with the nodes and outputs helped me understand why the order matters, and what the colors of triangles mean 😅 i understood so much better when you switched to the flowchart in davinci, rather than just starting there! Thank you!
What kind of dedication is this? you are a very good teacher I am seeing after my 10th standard and colllege maths teachers. Now i'm clear that this nodes are like maths formulas. thank you so much for saving me from this node monsters
So far I've okay been taking bites of information from your videos to quickly do up some gaming videos... This video made me realise I need to sit down, learn comprehensively and then the quality of everything will shoot up. Dude, HILARIOUS and informative delivery. I hope you had as much fun making this as I did watching it
What a great introduction to Fusion. As a complete beginner at 75 YOA it was all greek to me, then.............Casey, you explain it in English with great graphics. Completely understandable now. Thanks and Kudos
I love how you explain nodes. We used Cinema 4D in school and it was ...complicated. but useable. We learned more about layering then anything. HAPPY VFXing!
Fantastic way to learn. I loved this tutorial, in fact it didn’t feel like a tutorial, it’s proper entertainment, and I’ve learned something. Thank you. Instantly subscribed.
Thank you so much for this video! Fusion has always intimidated me and I have only been using resolve to edit for about 7 months. I feel much better learning Fusion. My wife walked in not understanding why I was looking at a video with a toaster and bread but this really did help me understand to not think of it as layers. Loved it!❤
So glad that we got a sequel to "how to make chocolate milk" in the form of "how to make toast!" Really great explanation of how the nodes work, especially with all the coloured inputs and the like. Thanks for sharing!
I have been subscribed for over a year. Excellent video in showing how to sequence things in terms of nodes and merges. The advanced section was a bit complicated so I would need to watch it several more times and then try it out. The best way to learn is by doing. So I need to do things several times to get a better grasp of things. You have clarified a number of things so far. Right now I am using Cyberlink Power Director and I will try out some of what I did there in DaVinci.
You how to look at Nodes really helped me; Media goes through Effects, Media is Merged with other Media, and Mask Nodes controls where Merges and Effects go. Images are Nodes. I think I've got it. Hopefully when I look at this in Fusion and try to create something it won't be as bad as toast with chicken, yogurt, skittles, and sprinkles.
Thanks for finding so many creative and innovative ways to teach a concept which appears hard to grasp because we're still thinking with the wrong paradigm of layers. And thanks for inserting that random music edit because those of us with short attention spans needed it to break up a long tutorial! 😁😁
I loved this video! I laughed so hard at the chicken toast and the song that, I had to pause it for about 5 minutes to compose myself so i could pay attention. Thanks for making these videos so fun. I'm still hoping some more Nodeland episodes are in the works.
I love this lesson! 👏🏾 Besides entertaining us, you've made it very practical! I hope that you do more of these types of videos in the future! Please, keep up the good work! 👍🏾
I had given up on learning Davinci tried several times it was overwhelming, until I found Casey's channel soon I'm going to be a Davinci Ninja I'm out to learn every button in the program now and master what it does. You all will be paying to go to the theater someday to see my films 🤣well you know hopefully that's the goal. "Yah toast, you push down the button and wires get hot you get toast"
You're videos are so helpful and well explained. I've been wanting to move my animation filter process from after effects to resolve and this helped me wrap my head around the process. pretty much was able to get it setup within an hour or so. there are a few things i didn't see inside fusion like exposure control, but can find a different solution for that step.
Your tutorials are really helpful. As an absolute novice, I wish to create a new comp with a specific duration for a title sequence using a background psd graphic and titles but can’t find away of changing the length without adjusting the default settings for stills. I’m sure you have covered this but I’ve watched many but can’t find a solution!!
This really helped me understand nodes and how it differs from layers. Just wondering, if we wanted to take a full chicken and put it through an oven before putting it on the toast, would we need a merge between toast on the left and the yoghurt merge on the right?
Great video!!! Definitely helped me get a better understanding. Wish the video ended with a promo code to your courses! lol Not going to say they're too expensive because I'm sure the information is amazing. Just need to figure out how to swing it on my end.
I’m working on a short film that would involve a helicopter flyby and couple of fires in a night scene. Can you do a tutorial on how to approach this? Thank you 🙏
Ha! This is amazing! I really do have a better grasp on HOW Fusion actually works now. It makes a lot more sense. Now I just need to get more reps in and get better at it. lol
The rhythm that you started, is what in the salsa genre, latin music, we call la clave, you were a little out of rhythm, the point is that I never thought that someday, you would put that in one of your videos, any Boricua who sees this video will probably mention it to you, good job on this video.

I have never been so fucking delighted by a tutorial video longer than 5 minutes, holy shit.
the original one is 1h long. Bro, I swear to god that the video is so much instructive.

Dude I absolutely love your videos xD The humor dispersed in it holds my attention and makes learning what you're teaching so much fun!
This was brilliant. Saved me hours of frustration. Thanks, Casey.
i was so confused but you cleared everything so beautifully. you explained the reason behind nodes ,that's what i was searching .
That was amazing, Casey, so fun! The 2-3 Rumba clave was an unexpected, awesome touch. Thanks for the great instruction.

This is the best video I have ever watched on Fusion. Thanks.
You know what, thinking about it, this actually makes so much sense. Can't wait to see the video.
Plus what's not to love about toast 🍞

Love it Casey. What an awesome tutorial. I didn't realize different nodes had different color connections!
What a great introduction to Fusion. As a complete beginner at 75 YOA it was all greek to me, then.............Casey, you explain it in English with great graphics. Completely understandable now. Thanks and Kudos
Glad it was helpful!
I love how you explain nodes. We used Cinema 4D in school and it was ...complicated. but useable. We learned more about layering then anything. HAPPY VFXing!
Fantastic stylistic and mucho value packed in! Thank you Casey!
Yes, there is a perfect video that explains about fusion nodes, and this is the video! After watching this I already feel like I understand a lot
Fantastic way to learn. I loved this tutorial, in fact it didn’t feel like a tutorial, it’s proper entertainment, and I’ve learned something. Thank you. Instantly subscribed.
👍
This deserves much more views :D
Holy crap! This is EPIC!!

Glad it was helpful! Tell her I said hey! And also that I'm sorry about the increased nerdery she'll be experiencing as u get into fusion.
Makes perfect sense - just following the of "KISS" principle. 😃💓
Saw the previous Fusion 101 video and this just blows it away! Just had to leave a comment.
BRAVO!!
BRAVO!!
The comments/ compliments should be as over the top as the video!! The chicken toast was the best part!
Wow, learned how to make toast and what nodes are, best tut on youtube. Thanks Casey
I love watching your content. I've learned a lot from them. Thanks for your work.. Digging it.

you are a genius. And the best teacher in the world
As you can see from my avatar, toast is near and dear to me. Thanks for helping us with your amazing skills.

And thanks for inserting that random music edit because those of us with short attention spans needed it to break up a long tutorial! 😁😁
Loved the way you explained.Amazing analogy👍
This was phenomenal in every single way!
I loved this video! I laughed so hard at the chicken toast and the song that, I had to pause it for about 5 minutes to compose myself so i could pay attention. Thanks for making these videos so fun. I'm still hoping some more Nodeland episodes are in the works.

👍
I laughed so hard with the chicken yogurt sprinkels toast 😂😂😂😂
Thank you Casey, this video was amazing, I learned a lot ❤❤
This is one of the best things I have ever seen
Casey, great tutorial. Congrats from Argentina.
Cooking with Casey 😆 I love it.

Great video! real life examples make it so much easier to understand
This is awesome thanks for the basic explanation.
New subscriber here thanks
One hell of an analogy! Thank you for this Casey!
I love this man! Making learning fun for an old man is hard to do!

The laugh to the straight face at 1:38 made me chuckle
Fav video so far
Your videos in 2024 is top notch funny and informative. thanks
I learned so much and I like the way you teach, Also i like the song
I’m sorry, but the end deserves an Oscar 😂 Thank you! Can you do this concept for other “Davinci for dummies “ topics?
Loved this watch of explaining.hope to see more like this.❤❤❤
Thank you Casey for making it visually easy for me to understand ❤
Perfect video, effortlessly done
great content! :-) greetings from germany :-)
As someone who is in the Fusion Zero to Hero course you should definitely check it out!
OMG that Toast acting and the song lmao. Davinci should hire you!
This really helped me understand nodes and how it differs from layers.
Just wondering, if we wanted to take a full chicken and put it through an oven before putting it on the toast, would we need a merge between toast on the left and the yoghurt merge on the right?
You would put the raw chicken through an oven effect before it went into the fg of the merge, putting it over the toast
The toast is back baby
Thx for fun Casey!
Thanks big man I am grateful for everything
Very very nice ReaolveCon ! Wonderful organisation and how quality it was !! See you next year !! Bravo and thanks
Yeaaah toast!!!
Great video!!! Definitely helped me get a better understanding. Wish the video ended with a promo code to your courses! lol Not going to say they're too expensive because I'm sure the information is amazing. Just need to figure out how to swing it on my end.
Great tutorial bro. Thanks a lot
So freaking cool, subbed!!!
I would say a node structure is like a layered tree laying on its side... Also thank you for talking about the green inputs and merge nodes
The freaking chicken-yogurt-skittles-sprinks toast is just taking me tf out. I cannot stop laughing. omg
this is a good video for a beginner
Always love a good chicken yoghurt skittle sprinkle toast!
Awesome and helpful tutorial! Thank you. 😂
10:42 shouldn't toasted part of the bread also be circular as a result of an applied mask on the merge node?
No, because the mask is only applied to the jelly node. If it was applied to the toaster node as well, then yes, the toasted area would be circular.
okay. i kept a straight face but you got me @15:30ish
Your final toast looked like real world version of my experiences so far.
Who remembers the Video Toaster?
I’m working on a short film that would involve a helicopter flyby and couple of fires in a night scene. Can you do a tutorial on how to approach this? Thank you 🙏
This was just amazing. Thanks!
Very very entertaining and learning easely!!!!❤❤❤❤
so much fun in the video🤣
Ha! This is amazing! I really do have a better grasp on HOW Fusion actually works now. It makes a lot more sense. Now I just need to get more reps in and get better at it. lol
Awesome!!
The rhythm that you started, is what in the salsa genre, latin music, we call la clave, you were a little out of rhythm, the point is that I never thought that someday, you would put that in one of your videos, any Boricua who sees this video will probably mention it to you, good job on this video.
can you do the same analogy with camera 3d? and image plane 3d?
I have interest in making a beat from video like the toast jam (no pun intended) you made. Any advice or tutorials on how to make such a video?
Strangely I once used a practical toast making exercise to teach, Surgeons of all people, how to structure a video tutorial.
