    Oh that is brilliant! How handy to have it on hand already chopped. We love fresh garlic and I try to keep it all the time, but in the winter (at "planting time"!) it always wants to sprout. Thanks for a great way to save it! Tina

    I planted some garlic for the first time late fall. I haven't checked it to see if its come up. But I'm hoping to preserve it this way and dehydrate also. Thanks for sharing your way. Take care.

    This was so helpful - I often don't finish my fresh garlic before it sprouts. now I'm going to buy a big bag, save some money, make the garlic & oil and maybe even see if sprouted garlic will grown in small pots on my table. Thank you

      The Peaceful Prepper your very welcome glad i could be of some help, you need a nice tight fitting lid so your oil wont leak and the garlic smell don;t go threw your fridge. Thanks for watching happy prepping :)

    How about using salt and vinegar. With my method, there is no oil or sugar. My method also has a lot fewer calories.

    Can we also use. Big pieces of garlic instead of chopping or mincing?

      Hi MJ, i would at least split your garlic in half. the main rule that I was taught was to make sure the garlic is covered well with the oil. so if you use some of the oil in a recipe, replace it with fresh oil to recover the garlic.

    Do you think this method is less expensive than buying the jarred minced?

    • @NaysKitchen
      @NaysKitchen  2 года назад

      A head of garlic in supermarkets fresh can be $30 or $40 a kilo.
      your average jar is around $4 or $5 (not in oil)
      A pack of organic seeds containing 500 seeds is about $2
      I grow my own garlic and process it myself. I am just simply showing how I do my garlic.

    • @NaysKitchen
      @NaysKitchen  6 лет назад +2

      G'Day Maddy, thanks for subscribing, yes you can use olive oil, I usually use olive oil for my infused oils that I sell. because I was making it for my own use I just used canola because I eat and do a lot of stir frys. thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy my channel.

    I do the same and it works well with olive oil. I would have like to see a shorter video -5 minutes max-for the amount of info you provided. Thanks.

    Why do you say you are using olive oil when the bottle says Canola Oil?????

    • @NaysKitchen
      @NaysKitchen  4 года назад +1

      G'Day thanks for stopping by, I buy olive oil by the drum load and I decant into a smaller bottle for easy use in the kitchen and I like the canola bottle because the funnel fits in it snug when decanting.

    How long is the longest you've had that keep with just the garlic and the olive oil? I was reading about garlic yesterday and saw something that specifically said you may not want to because you can get botulism. I thought that was something to make a mental note of to not do, but then I watched this vid and it just happens to be what you do! haha. (I don't know why it would but then again I've tried preserving things like plantain with olive oil and it didn't work so good, somehow grew mold anyway.)

      G'Day aeridyne, thanks for stopping by.
      I do a lot of stirfrys, marinades, dressings & sauces so my garlic and oil get used regularly.
      Just like everything in your kitchen, regardless of it was purchased in a store or made at home, you should see, smell & taste test and "IF IN DOUBT, THROW IT OUT"
      on average a bottle that size in the video will last me 6 or 7 months depending on the time of year.

    Have you ever dehydrated your garlic?

    • @NaysKitchen
      @NaysKitchen  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Dawn, yes I have. I use garlic in a lot of my cooking. I dehydrate garlic flakes and also make my own garlic powder.
