I am an African American US citizen and came across this music as a result of watching a movie called The Reluctant Fundamentalist, and I started searching for the artist of these songs and although I do not understand the words, yet I am still drawn to it and find myself in meditation and calm, the music is AWESOME. These Pakistani qawwals probably belong to the last few classical singers who still practice the Dhrupad style of singing. The art seems to be fast becoming extinct in India. Thanks to our neighbours, people still get to hear the cream of Hindustani classical. Forget the fusion, with the amazing Thumri interludes this song stands out for its blend of Hindustani classical styles. Thumbs up to Mr. Ayaz and Mr. Mohammed...

Started my journey with Kangana, going deeper down the rabbit hole and found amazing hidden gems of these guys. One of the best is "Chaap Tilak," 40-minute performance in a very casual setting (not professional production) and it was a transcendental experience. These guys have become my favorite. I also realized this song is almost similar to Kangana, especially the part where they sing those sounds.
This is not just music it's art. This speaks to me, before I researched the words I felt the spirit of its intentI have discovered Qawwal and other talented artists because of these blessed beings. This genre is over 700 yrs old. I am not Muslim or Hindu and need not be in order to understand divine love.

That constant groovy bass work in the bg is just phenomenal! This is what Coke Studio is missing after season 6, the details in every aspect of sound production and vocal performance by the artists.
