"The Kingdom" is an original dwarven song in our Hammerdeep collection. We are continuing to develop our own Dwarven legend through multiple musical compositions. We hope you enjoy it:)
We wrote the lyrics, composed, and arranged the piece. My family sang it.
Please no bad language in the comments. We want this to be family friendly:) Thank you!
    Lyrics:
    The Kingdom
Behold my son, my father said,
    the strength of Dwarven stone.
When I pass, it will endure
    The kingdom and the throne.
Stone on stone with Dwarven hands
A hall for peace to reign
    Where beat hearts of loyalty
    The kingdom shall remain
And when the halls are filled with treasure
And when we strive for one endeavor
And when the stone of white
    Crowns the hall with light
Then shall the kingdom stand forever
    Forever
Come, said he, I show you well
    The craft of ages past
    Iron heart and diamond head
    Will make the hammer last
    But the heart of adamant
    Is needed for the fight
Arm of oak and heavy stroke
    Shall be the foeman’s plight
And when you live to see the treasure
And when we strive for one endeavor
And when the crown of gold
    Finds the spirit bold
Then shall the kingdom stand forever
    Forever
    Dreaded day of reckoning
has called us on this day
    Evil magic beckoning
    A force from dark decay
    Goblins of the darkest realm
    Our kingdom to dismay
    Draw your axes, venture forth
    Bring valor to the fray
And when they come to take our treasure
Then shall we strive with one endeavor
And when the stones flow red
    With their wicked dead
Then shall the kingdom stand forever
    Forever
Then let our hearts be filled with treasure
And let us strive with one endeavor
And let us wash the stone
    And restore the throne
Then shall the kingdom stand forever
    Forever
    Fallen father, know thee well,
    Your memory remains
Peace fulfilled from blood then spilled
And now your son who reigns
    Standing now in readiness
    For the hammer’s falling
    Building now in steadiness
    The kingdom now is calling
And when our name becomes a treasure
And we have lived for one endeavor
And when the stones grow cold
    With our dead of old
Still shall our kingdom stand forever
    Forever

This song not only made me realise, finally, what it is I find so appealing about Dwarves, but also what I find so fascinating about the idea of Heaven. It's all in the word, Forever.
Forever isn't a thing in this world. Everything in this world is fleeting, and there's certainly beauty in that fleeting nature. The fact that something will come and go and never be there again is beautiful. The idea that a few or even a single person may get to see that one thing during it's time is incredible. The fact that even the night sky above will, one day, be unrecognisable from how it looks now, is mind-blowing.
But Forever is special. If anything is Forever, then it's mere existence is, in a way, beautiful. And Dwarves don't build a Kingdom, or anything, for the here and now. They make it for Forever.

    • @Nerobyrne
      @Nerobyrne 7 месяцев назад +3

What always bothered me about heaven is that the claim is that I will live forever.
If I build a legacy that lasts a thousand years, then I can rest in peace, knowing I've done more than was asked of me.
In heaven, there is no rest. I will never know peace.
Well, unless my mind is altered to a point that I might as well be dead, so what's the difference?

These songs make me appreciate the Dwarves allot more. I wished there was some kind of song in Khuzdul that was so catchy, every Tolkien fan knows it. Or like the vikings when they formed their shield wall, shouting a rhyme that all of their kind know and follow in unison to get into a mindset. Like when the Dwarven army at the lonely mountain set up their shield wall "as if it was something they knew since birth, second nature" if only there was a rhyme with those Dwarves setting up that defensive maneuver. Or if we had Gimli shouting a Rhyme at the top of the deeping wall.. :D

This reminds me of the line in the second Negankerdak song "Our great ones have died". I'm glad this song relates to the great ones of the dwarves!

If an 8th Durin's ever crowned and this isn't playing at his coronation, by Dumathoin, Clangeddin, and Vraccas, what I miss. What a tune! 😁

I believe this takes place right before Son of the Mountain due to the allusion of a dead king or other form of ruler to protect The Kingdom, which seems to be Hammerdeep.
Also the line "For the hammer's falling" implies that When the Hammer takes place soon after. I believe this is third in the timeline, right after/during Birth of an Age and before Son of the Mountain.
    (My current theorized timeline)
    1. Boic Bravesoul
    2. Birth of an Age
    3. The Kingdom
    4. Son of the Mountain
    5. When the Hammer Falls
    6. Dragonshore
    7. Dwarven Forge
    8. The Song of Hammerdeep
    9. Daughters of the Sky
    10. Oshjrad Bonebreaker
    11. The Battle at World Stone Keep
