Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): Explained

- “Conjunctivitis” is any inflammatory condition of the membrane that lines eyelids and covers the sclera (white part of the eye). Most often this is caused by a bacterial or viral infection. The different types of pink eye include and are not limited to viral conjunctivitis, bacterial, allergic and chlamydial conjunctivitis. Although pink-eye is relatively common, it can also be a serious type of pink eye that can cause severe symptoms. Conjunctivitis is highly contagious; therefore importance of awareness is critical. This video will go on to explain the causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of pink-eye.

After 2 days my pink eye went from my left eye to my right eye.... the most annoying is whenever I sleep my eyes get glued together.

This just happened to me however redness and swelling went down in my right, but started in my left 😐

Wish she would have started with that. I don’t have it but my boyfriend does and we are now having to separate in our house due to it.
I'd rather get pink eye than separate from my boyfriend. Oh, you're sick? So I will start feeling sick soon as well. Do people really separate not to get sick? My parents shared everything as well.
I guess if I were 8 years old this would be much easier for me to understand than a direct, technical explanation along with known effective remedies.
I have bacterial conjuctivitis for a couple days, in three days it's pass over from one eye to another eye...symptoms: red eye, blurry or watery vision, discharge become yellow and crusty, then sticky-glued eyes after sleeping...
Did the blurry / watery vision go away?
@@mars4874 Yes it's go away after using therapy mix of antibacterial/corticosteriods eye drops and eye oinment

I suffered badly with conjunctivitis, swollen painful eye . Nearly every month, had steroid drops that worked beautifully, but could not use it often , then doctor gave me a more natural drops , they were good too, then l read somewhere to wash the eye with cold water , wow wow marvellous it went away haven't had conjunctivitis for about 8 months , every morning l wash my eyes with cold water , hope this helps someone.
I cannot stand having conjunctivitis I feel like I can’t see out of my eyes omg it’s the worse thing to have and I feel like I’m on verge of nervous breakdown 😢

Please try cold water treatment, wash your eyes with cold water, or use a eye water bath, my conjunctivitis was severe always with medication, since l started washing my eyes with cold water, haven't had any conjunctivitis, but when l feel it's coming on l go straight to cold water, for me it's like a miracle, you have nothing to loose to try the water treatment, good luck

Huh- for me i just wait until i wake up with my eyes sealed shut and tell my mother so she can get eye drops.
I blew my nose and snot went into my eye socket. Now I think I have conjunctivitis. This also happens sometimes when I have a nosebleed, the blood goes into my eye socket and then I have a full eye of blood and have to wipe it away so I'm not blind. Feels bad man.

I first had pink eye in my right eye for 5 days then after it stopped a couple of days later it swapped to my left eye . Now its day 6 and i still have a red eye .
I have had pink eye so many times in my life that I cant even count anymore but when I get the flu, at some point, it always always affects my eyes. The last time I had it I had it for two months and as I look back, I kept reinfecting myself and it was only with 14 days of oral antibiotics and some drops did it go away. Needless to say, my eyes have never been the same Im way more sensitive to sunlight than I ever was. It was the worse case I ever had. My corneas were red totally red not bloodshot but red and my eyes were swollen weeping, itchy, burning, crusty it was bad.

Man. I didn't know anything about pink eye until I got it at 19. At the time, I had a roommate who was kinda sus. HELLA sus in fact. So when I woke up with my eye glued shut....and him nowhere to be found....I REALLY thought he might've skeeted in my eye & took off. I was gonna kill him.🤣😭💀☠⚰🪦

@@cadejust6777 What are you even talking about ? eye drops does make the pink eye go away I had it before back in 2013 both of my eyes were itching badly so I use eye drops and it works.
when i had pink it started on the left then the right on the same day and the next day it was on both eyes

i had a cold starting monday then this morning i woke up with really crusty eyes...later today i noticed my eyes hurt when i blinked and now its really red and green stuff leaking out

@@matthewchiccino3749 Yesterday my right eye started to clear up and today it started clearing on my left. Now it's mostly gone, so four days basically. Hope you feel better soon.
Same thing going on with me. Earlier in the week i felt a cold coming on. Friday like an idiot i drank all night and the next day my eyes were all red and itchy. Both eyes at the same time are incredibly red and irritated. Went to the walk in Monday and they said it’s pink eye so i got some drops. It’s now Tuesday and my eyes are still just as red and irritated plus my cold is still pretty bad. I’m assuming it must be related?
I got diagnosed with Viral Conjunctivitis. My eye has been really red for 2 weeks now & I’m hoping and praying I don’t have herpes in my eye. It’s really no pain, just started using prescribed eye drops & want to know how can I tell if it’s not herpes!?

I had conjunctivitis in one eye for a day and then it got completely better and switched to my other eye for 2 days before finally going away. (It’s true that you wake up with your eyes sealed shut)
I have hayfever I already suffer red and itchy eyes I itch my eyes and next thing you know I have conjunctivitis yay..
for me it started out with feeling like crap muscles hurting and stuff and almost started crying in the middle of the night and panting which might be another virus and my throat hurt so bad. my mom had pink eye last wk. and my throats been hurting and last few days and yesterday it immediately started showing symptoms it started with stringy stuff. then it made extreme symptoms. it’s only in my eyes as of now. i have all the symptoms and cannot see well. it’s almost 6am and i cannot sleep

I have bacterial Pink Eye. My eyes are super bloodshot above my pupils. Can I open my eyes from the top up rather than bottom down to really hit that area? (I have rx antibiotic eye drops.) Thx!
I think I have this, my eyes have been watery and itchy for almost a year now. My vision is blury too I really need to.get checked out. Eye drops and sprays are helping but its not going away fully.
I went to the doctors for it and they prescribed me this ointment that you put in your eyelid, then you close your eye and move it all around to get it to spread all over your eye. It makes your vision pretty blurry for the first 15 minutes, but then it starts to go away.
@@scrawny1823 Thank you. I have been to the doctors, and they said I've got keratoconus. My eyes aren't watering as much anymore but, I'm depressed finding out I have this condition it means the blurry double vision won't go away in fact it seems its getting worse. I have an appointment soon to see what needs to be done.

I have red eyes they both hurt extremely bad itchy very sensitive to light they even hurt when my eyes are closed. Lots of crusty stuff on the eyes and are very watery. It even hurts to look at my phone screen. Do I have pink ehe

@@Jeinx.d yea just get droplets, this was probably the most painful sickness I’ve had. It just kept getting worse and I couldn’t do anything. Just go to the doctor and get eye droplets

Pink eye blind eyes lol. What up with that? I am scared as fuck, but I think that inaccurate. Even Dr says you have to wait it out.
