Sean is a very conflicted man. He wants a bloodbath, but he also wants to win. Can’t do both at the highest level too often, especially with a reserved defensive style like his.
@BoxHillAbo It sounds like you're the one coping. front kicks are for keeping people away. he jabs, but never follows up with anything after it. no combos, does nothing to close to distance, no cutting them off, he just plods slowly towards the opponent while acting defensively
He needs to do this every round, i like him a lot but he can be boring ish to watch, i love the technical striking but he says we will bleed in there but doesnt really take risks, easy for me to say but hes mouth doesnt 100% back up his actions
I can appreciate his minimalist style and strategy, but fuck you'd never catch me watching his fights unless its against someone that can bring it. I thought maybe Costa would be someone like that, but he fucking wilted. Left that fight hating both of them lol and almost the whole event. Glad for the main event though.
@@TheNEOverseBro you thought Costa was going to bring the fight to him. Why? Because he threw a spinning back kick to Whittaker and had a close decision with old Rockhold?
He just talks a big game at press conferences to sell the fight and market himself. Then he gets into the cage and spends the whole fight hiding behind his jab and trying to avoid damage, and starts actually fighting when there's 20 seconds left.
*Why I dislike Strickland (warning rant ahead)* Strickland always says he's gonna stand and go to war, then only throws the safest jabs without opening up, taking zero risks, starting zero engagement with overhands and combinations, never goes for the finish or try to exchange to find openings and when power punchers (Cannonier and Dricus) actually tries to bluntly force a war, he backs up and plays it safe. Then he cries about how the judges robbed him when he did not show any championship spirit or fights so passively to do minimal damage when he could've done so much more. He only starts going if: 1. he's down on points in the later rounds 2. he's completely up on points and only has 10 seconds left 3. he's completely in control and when the fighter is practically dying under the pressure (even then he only throws like a 3 second combo every 10 minutes and immediately resumes to safe mode) Strickland has one of if not the lowest finish rate in middleweight high ladder history; I'm not saying you have to go Michael Chandler every single time, but literally every other fighter, for instance Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje, don't just hide in their defense shell and never open up. Even before Holloway knocking out Gaethje in the last wild exchange, both were being technical and cautious while also actually fighting, testing distance, willing taking some shots to get some shots, baiting shots in so they can exchange with their own, trying to get their power hand to land and finish the fight. They're willing to take the risks of getting knocked out to knock the other person out, Strickland only does that when he sees untrained twitch streamers and then he's suddenly Robbie Lawler. Sean is also a hypocrite in so many other ways, shitting on the Aussies a few weeks before he came in to fight Adesanya and the sudden changing sides, calling himself a honorary Australian because he's going there to fight, then making fun of Izzy's past fighting in China (Mind you, Izzy actually appreciates the Chinese culture, has a Chinese master and lived there before). Then he blew Izzy's dog interaction way out of proportion (It was very immature and quite disturbing, but there was obviously no sexual intent from Izzy's part), and now at the 302 post fight interview he admits he doesn't even believe what he says and calls Izzy retarded for taking it so seriously after turning 90 percent of his fans on him, and thats coming from a person who also has a dog.
