Sean broke him with his defense, he checked 80-90% of izzy's kicks and he seems to get a little frustrated when his bigger weapon doesnt work, it showed in Jan fight. A lot of people saying Izzy fought bad today but in reality it was Strickland who fought the perfect fight to win against Adesanya, Defense.
@@stephenlandrum I mean it usually does work. Sean's only been caught in a serious way one time in his career, against one of the best kickboxers ever. Other than that he usually outstrikes his opponents significantly.

@@teexcv stop making up lies, the dude went through x10 more in his childhood than you will in your entire life, you think Sean needs your forgiveness? Are you gonna forgive Izzy for what he did to his poor dog?
Sean Strickland beating Israel Adesanya by unanimous decision is just insane, one of the most shocking upsets in the contemporary MMA scene, MMA's such a crazy unpredictable sport
He has one of the most unique styles in the UFC. He just stands there and doesn't get hit. It looks like he's not doing anything, but he's slowly inching forward to throw a killer shot
His boxing is the best you will see in MMA and he defends against kicks very well. Izzy underestimated him and could not make the necessary adjustments because of the constant pressure Sean applied.
his fundamentals are so effortless they're practically invisible. it's gotta be in part due to his insane stamina. most people get tired or lazy and let little things like leg kicks get through. but sean checked something like 60. it would completely change a fight if that many unchecked leg kicks got through i think we're starting to see that izzy doesn't have the best chin, also. he could've been more productive if he was willing to eat a few shots to put damage on sean. but against stronger guys like pereira and strickland, that's too big of a risk for izzy try to get within their range. he was stuck on the outside not able to do much
@@360.Tapestry😂 Yeah, the first time in his career that he's ever got knocked down, and now your starting to see that he doesn't have the best chin. What a silly thing to say.
It’s not just that he won, it’s how he won. He completely shut down Izzy, and he did it while going forward. I never saw this coming. Wow. Sean proved everyone wrong.
This was one of the most impressive things I have ever seen in the UFC. Beating Izzy by points and winning 4 rounds is nearly impossible. Even a tall kickbox world Champion like Alex Pereira lost the rounds before he knocked out Izzy. Adesanya is huge for the MW division while Strickland fought at Welterweight. Beating Izzy with a range difference like this, while nearly making it impossible to get hit by him, outstriked him almost by 3 times when it comes to headstrikes. Incredible, nobody saw that coming the only tiny chance people gave Sean was if he would wrestle.
Old Izzie would've destroyed Sean because he used to throw straight shots a lot more but now since he was spoiled by fighters walking into his wide strikes and when some trailer trash decided to do the opposite his whole game went down the drain.

NEVER ENJOYED AND UNDERDOG VICTORY MORE in my whole life! There's something about Sean's real life struggles from the bottom to the top, that we can all relate to some big or small way.

I cried a few times watching the decision. As for today, it still gives me goosebumps seeing Sean Strickland becoming champion of the world. The most honest, transparent champion in the UFC
This is highly reminiscent of Bisping’s win over Rockhold. Both Sean and Bisping took the fight on short notice, both were immense underdogs who were seen as journeymen/title-challengers at best, both won and defied the odds and both became middleweight champion of the world. Both trash talk great too.
Except that Rockhold had 0 defenses, and Bisping was a legit veteran who'd beaten a who's who. Other than losing it to Pereira (who by pedigree is the greatest striker in MMA history), Izzy had like 10 defenses, was a LONG reigning champ, and no one has seen Strickland do anything like this before.
I know you want your likes and all that shit, but ping just got a fluke KO against an overconfident guy who lacked striking def, while this was just a fookin kickboxing clinic against an elite kickboxer
@@Bushey4545He's also getting older while have being extremely active. More than likely, we won't see the same Adesanya anymore. But there is a chance it lights one more fire under him. I doubt it thought at this point. Usman also became a shadow of his former self.
Insane... ABSOLUTELY insane...Sean's reflexes, pressure, and defending leg kicks were incredible. My goodness... an old school fighter/boxer against a legend like Izzy.
I don't think so.. The more impressive thing is he made Izzy look like a below average fighter who couldn't handle one-two, teep and forward pressure. Just insane how styles make fights. I'm so glad for Sean.
Izzy raising his hand and then him starting to tear up and calling Izzy a legend had me tearing up. These guys do so much trash talk and jabbing to sell a fight, but it's moments like those you really see that behind closed doors, these guys are just really normal, really solid dudes.
No it was disrespectful he stole Strickland's moment of the win he was almost 2 min praising him. Izzy is humble in defeat but not on his win. Strickland is humble in both except when he got mad at the annoying German fans. If Izzy KOed Strickland then he would dance on him and Post this ko like 50 times everyday on insta.

Especially the defense for the outside leg kick. I would rate it as one of the best defense performances in recent memory. Izzy offense game is built of his leg kicks and Sean completely nullified it.
Strickland beating Izzy has the same vibe as Bisping beating Rockhold for the belt. Both top 10 fighters who could never get the shot, but were close, both were replacement fighters, both huge underdogs against the dominant champ. Congrats Sean!

@@KhanSphere did you miss the POSSIBLY part? Not everyone’s going to agree. But you still can’t take away from the fact of the caliber of fighters he put away, most twice. All why fighting at least 3 times a year.. Silva didn’t fight the same caliber of fighters. Not like Silva was undefeated. Just because someone loses doesn’t take away from all that they did. That same principle can be applied to Silva. He looked like trash after Stephan bonnar. Only winning one fight out of his next 9 after bonnar. Honestly drop Izzy in Anderson’s era and he toys with everyone from his first ufc fight with Chris leben to his last with Uriah hall. Imagine prime leben Vs prime Izzy 🤣. Besides silvas first fight in the ufc was for title eliminator. Won the title on his 2nd ufc fight. Izzy had to wait 6 fights before getting a title shot. Only reason his record isn’t being broke is because Dana isn’t giving anyone a title eliminator fight for their first fight in the ufc.
@Cultee Silva started taking Ls at 38, most of which after the lower leg break. Everyone knows he should have retired. Adesanya, meanwhile, has already lost his title twice, at 33 and 34. He's in his fighting prime and can't stay on top. They are not the same. Also Adesanya has not fought thrice per year. He only fought twice in 2019, twice in 2020, twice in 2021. The only time he's fought thrice was in 2022, when he lost his belt.
@@KhanSphere still adesanya toys with all of silvas title defense opponents. On the other hand silva loses to a 1/4 of Izzy’s defenses. You can’t say guys like Nate marquat, travis lutter, can touch anyone in Izzy’s reign. Silva defended the belt against guys that would’ve been cut today. If Izzy defended against journeymen opponents like Silva did he’d look like the goat of all ufc fighters. Masvidal has a better win percentage than any of silvas title defense opponents
@@KhanSphere You can't argue with a guy that wants to compare different eras. I mean shit at age 30 Israel got to fight a 45 year Anderson and couldn't put him away. Anderson beat the best guys put in front of him and then he turned into a clown against Weidman and got clipped. I'm surprised he didn't bring up Anderson failing for PED's because Israel with his gyno titties is cycling them 100%. He might have forgot to take his steroids this fight thinking it would be easy. Weidman immediately sucked once USADA drug testing was introduced he lost his belt. Also Anderson Silva has every record in UFC middleweight history except for one that belongs to Israel Adesanya. Israel holds the record for longest average fight time of almost 4 full rounds.
I thought he could possibly win by getting a big shot and swarming, like he almost did in round 1, but I didn't think he could outperform Izzy for 5 rounds.
Fantastic fighter and fight plan. And it needs to be said that the coaching in his corner was some of the best I've ever heard. They told him exactly how to win this fight and he listened! Mad respect to them and Huge Congrats Strik 😤👍

If the dogbender won, he would have clowned Sean hard.
Before the fight strickland was said izzy is a shitty person. After the fight Izzy said hold my beer

This is the first time ever, outside of boxing, that we’ve seen a boxer defeat a kickboxer at the highest caliber of fighting. This is unbelievable to me
He check almost every leg kick . And because Sean stands so tall he can pick up his legs easily .
What about Grasso vs Shevchenko? Or Miochic vs Overeem?
Truth is its not hard to block if you not trying to throw

Sean's actually a dog
He has one of the most unique styles in the UFC. He just stands there and doesn't get hit. It looks like he's not doing anything, but he's slowly inching forward to throw a killer shot
Best defense is the most effortless one
His boxing is the best you will see in MMA and he defends against kicks very well. Izzy underestimated him and could not make the necessary adjustments because of the constant pressure Sean applied.
Keith Jardine actually did the same thing to Chuck Liddell - major upset
his fundamentals are so effortless they're practically invisible. it's gotta be in part due to his insane stamina. most people get tired or lazy and let little things like leg kicks get through. but sean checked something like 60. it would completely change a fight if that many unchecked leg kicks got through
i think we're starting to see that izzy doesn't have the best chin, also. he could've been more productive if he was willing to eat a few shots to put damage on sean. but against stronger guys like pereira and strickland, that's too big of a risk for izzy try to get within their range. he was stuck on the outside not able to do much
@@360.Tapestry😂 Yeah, the first time in his career that he's ever got knocked down, and now your starting to see that he doesn't have the best chin. What a silly thing to say.
