Haha, glad you don't have a Fuji Toyin! I used to use GH4 at my work. Great camera! Fuji XT lines are great too! They don't support that mount on this round for some reason...
Great video and review! If you were using this lens on the new Sony A7Siii which doesn't have a 4k APS-C mode, would the lens still work? Do you just have to crop out the vignette edges in post?
Hi Phil, yes I just got my a7s iii and it is interesting. It doesn’t have aps-c crop mode in 4K but it crops 1.1 when filming in 4K 120. I’ll test it with active stabilization on and see if that crops even more. So you won’t be getting the true 4K resolution but with slight post crop, it may be useable.
@@SePark Thanks for that info and looking forward to your test results. Isn't the sensor on the A7S iii slightly higher resolution than 4k? So when it does the 1.1 crop in 120 fps mode, it should be outputting right around actual UHD 4K, right? With the active stabilization turned on as well, then I would expect a slightly lower than UHD 4K resolution which gets a bit of an upscale when saved to the camera.

Hi Sergio, in short answer, yes. Long answer, not all full frame Sony cameras - ie. A7S III does not have aps-c mode, but instead has 1.1. crop on the active stabilization. On my new 24mm review video, you'll find more about this towards the end of the video.
It's the first affordable anamorphic yea, but not being full frame, and it not being weather sealed, it's a hard pass on me. Hopefully they address those two major points in the future or hopefully they get some competition soon. Btw Fuji is superior to Sony and Nikon is superior to everyone..hehe
Hey Charlez, unfortunately not this time around. I know that's little confusing since their previous 50mm had the X mount. This isn't the last lens they will make so don't lose hope tho...
Hey hey Sebastian! Definitely the 35mm for most video shoots, if you were to pick one. It's lot more versatile. Because it's a cropped lens, 50mm is little too long for every scenario. You can always get closer to zoom in, but you can't zoom out. You'll find this especially true when you are traveling and filming. This 35mm lens will feel like a 42mm if you use a full frame camera, and about 28 mm if you use a cropped aps-c sensored camera. Hope that helps!
Thanks Adam! Technically we are all newbies still learning and helping each other. Hmmmm, If you're used to full frame lens measurement, 35mm Sirui is actually 53mm anamorphic. Sometimes that throws people off. Unless your question is regarding your camera setting.
Thanks for the valuable information. If I use the Speedbooster 0.71 on the Bmpcc4k and the Siru 35mm with the EF mount, how about the crop factor and the minimum focus distance?
@@SePark they still probably should have made it for xmount because the Fuji is the best APSC video camera available and that is what this lens mount is for 💀
I hope they expand upon more mounts and even make full frame glass. This 35mm anamorphic lens will be wider than a 35 mm aps-c lens. The "look" really comes from the bokeh characteristics and the lens flares. You can fake the flares in the editing sotware if you are willing to spend some time in front of a computer. I'll do a tutorial on this later this year. :)
@@darlingtonjonesimagery9247 I'll let them know. Seems like lot of Blackmagic PC 6K users are trying to use this lens with the EF mount. If the demand is there, I think they will try to make one.
Hi Daniel, unfortunately the 6K with the EF mount does not support this lens. The Blackmagic 4K with the micro 4/3 supports this lens. Hope that helps!
I just uploaded a new video with some sample footage using the +4 diopter using the 24 mm. It's towards the end of the video. It will depend on what kind of shots you are trying to get, but I find +4 to be most useful. The kit I mentioned in the new review video contains 4 different ones.
We will wait until they made full frame lens and not the crop. We paid for full frame camera body, that will be ridiculous to use aps-c crop lens on full frame body. What they are thinking...?!
Gonçalo M yes but not C200. This lens only comes in EF-M mount and not EF. In the Sony cameras, it would work since cameras like FS5 and FS7 has an E mount and fits aps-c lenses. Hope that answer helps.
Rahul Rishi yes technically, not as bad as full frame sensor cameras. The problem is the mount. This lens does not have a EF mount currently. It's EF-M mount. If they ever make an EF mount, you will have so much resolution that little crop I'm won't sacrifice much.😁
@@rahulrishi8800 do you know of any EF-M to EF mount adapter? I know there are EF to EF-M adapters but not the other way around. I heard someone unofficially retrofitting a Nikon F mount as an alternative, but the unknown factor would be the flange distance.
@@rahulrishi8800 that's interesting. You found an adapter that converts MFT to an EF camera mount? Any time you go through a non standard adapter or speed booster, you're going to face some image ratio discrepancies. Going back to the general rule that super 35 is slightly bigger than the aps-c or micro 4/3, you will get vignetting. Your advantage on a 6K camera is that you can crop.

Thanks Adam! Technically we are all newbies still learning and helping each other. Hmmmm, If you're used to full frame lens measurement, 35mm Sirui is actually 53mm anamorphic. Sometimes that throws people off. Unless your question is regarding your camera setting.
@@SePark yeah I had it at 4k. It just wasn't very wide at all.
Thanks for the valuable information.
If I use the Speedbooster 0.71 on the Bmpcc4k and the Siru 35mm with the EF mount, how about the crop factor and the minimum focus distance?
It can't have an EF mount since it's a mirrorless lens
@@MKVD Thank you for this information.
I'm guessing open gate on the gh5 should still work within the image circle?
Nice video!... And lens 👀
Haha thanks man! No FUJi mount this time around. They know something we don’t? 😁🙏🙏🙏🤙👍
@@SePark maybe no one is buying it in xmount ? 👀
Vu Nguyen // nVu Films yeh I suspected that FUJi new sales dropped. I remember the days I almost got one 😁
@@SePark LOL😂
@@SePark they still probably should have made it for xmount because the Fuji is the best APSC video camera available and that is what this lens mount is for 💀
Give me CANON EF-S please! Would love to see some footage of 35mm vs Sirui. I'm not sure what makes it look better. Trying to understand anamorphic
@@SePark gotcha. Yes will love at least Canon APS-C mount though. Would at least like to mount on my Canon EF mount
@@darlingtonjonesimagery9247 I'll let them know. Seems like lot of Blackmagic PC 6K users are trying to use this lens with the EF mount. If the demand is there, I think they will try to make one.
@@SePark and c300 users
Can this be adapated to a Ef super 35 sensor. Like the BMPCC6k? Or is there like vignette?
Great video! Can this lens work on a Blackmagic 6k camera?
Hi Daniel, unfortunately the 6K with the EF mount does not support this lens. The Blackmagic 4K with the micro 4/3 supports this lens. Hope that helps!
@@SePark Thanks for the reply. Definitely helpful. Hopefully in the future they can make their lenses for EF mounts. Cheers!
@Daniel DiFilippo any time! Yes I'm waiting for some other lenses from Sirui too! They seem to be hitting off well so only matter of time!
Can we have macro adaptor for this lens
Can i get this lens to worl with my BMPCC6k?
Hey, if I use this lens on the bmpcc4k (mft sensor) will it become a 60mm lens because of crop factor?
Yes it will
Does it pair well with the Sony A7ii?
I love this guys channel. lol
and I love this guy's comment lol (thanks man!)
@@SePark haha you are absolutely welcome! genuinely entertaining and informative as always.
What strength diopters would you be using on this lens?
I just uploaded a new video with some sample footage using the +4 diopter using the 24 mm. It's towards the end of the video. It will depend on what kind of shots you are trying to get, but I find +4 to be most useful. The kit I mentioned in the new review video contains 4 different ones.
Is it auto focus?
Is there. Way to mount this to the rf system ?
Take a shot every time he says “like”
was just gonna comment this lol
We will wait until they made full frame lens and not the crop.
We paid for full frame camera body, that will be ridiculous to use aps-c crop lens on full frame body.
What they are thinking...?!
Can you use this lens in a super 35 sensor like the Canon C200 without vignetting?
Gonçalo M yes but not C200. This lens only comes in EF-M mount and not EF. In the Sony cameras, it would work since cameras like FS5 and FS7 has an E mount and fits aps-c lenses. Hope that answer helps.
Does it work with BM6K ?
i have a BMPC 6K which has a super 35 sensor , so am i still going to get those Vignettes ?
Rahul Rishi yes technically, not as bad as full frame sensor cameras. The problem is the mount. This lens does not have a EF mount currently. It's EF-M mount. If they ever make an EF mount, you will have so much resolution that little crop I'm won't sacrifice much.😁
@@SePark yeah but by using adaptor can we still get a proper anamorphic ratio?
@@rahulrishi8800 do you know of any EF-M to EF mount adapter? I know there are EF to EF-M adapters but not the other way around. I heard someone unofficially retrofitting a Nikon F mount as an alternative, but the unknown factor would be the flange distance.
@@SePark i thought of taking a MFT lens and MFT to EF mount adapter , is this going to work ?
@@rahulrishi8800 that's interesting. You found an adapter that converts MFT to an EF camera mount? Any time you go through a non standard adapter or speed booster, you're going to face some image ratio discrepancies. Going back to the general rule that super 35 is slightly bigger than the aps-c or micro 4/3, you will get vignetting. Your advantage on a 6K camera is that you can crop.
How would this be on a fs7
that intro had me dead
