1. I don’t know how you managed to introduce James Blonde with a straight face
2. The whole sequence was excellent
I bought the Sirui 50mm Anamorphic and their gimbal through Indiegogo. I am using with the Sony A6500. The weight of the lens and A6500 make balancing the gimbal difficult. Sirui takes no responsibility for this despite the weight of the lens and camera being greater than the tolerance range of the gimbal. It is still usable. The lens has great flares and oval bokeh. The footage easily converts in Adobe Premiere. My main complaint of the lens is that the focus is hard to maintain, and you can see this in our mentor Arthur's footage if you watch close.
Impressive. Amazing how just the frame size puts you right into "watching a movie" mode.
Nice vid. I have been filming with Sirui Anamorphic 50mm for many months now. Loved it so far.
I have the 50mm, and its awesome. My 35mm is shipping now. I have shot with the 50mm, and I'm blown away of how the sharpness doesn't have that digital look. Can't wait to start shooting with the 35mm when it arrives. P.S. Her acting was Oscar worthy for sure!
To get close-up shots use an extender, not a closeup filter. It will ruin your image quality.
But these lenses are absolutely fantastic, I'll definitely buy them at some point.
Damn. Now i want a full movie with that Bond villain!
Loved the short film... “killer” looked like Seinfeld going in to kill the chocolate babka. hahaha.
These lenses are legit game changers.
I shoot almost exclusively with the 50mm. Looking forward to seeing what other companies will do from a competitive perspective.
We definitely need to see more Jenessa acting.
best episode ever. Janessa Blond killed it.
I am ordering the new 24mm SIRUI for MFT for my GH5 and G9.
Nice review, being a hardcore Bond fan, I loved your clip, and for using the John Barry score!
Compliments to your Bond Girl 🍷
"Licence to Kill", and I'm aiming straight for your heart ... wonderful Title Song from LICENCE TO KILL.
Hehe 6:22 is how I approach women at bars
XD
Well, I hope without the knive...
In hat case, I feel you, bro.
lol 😂
@I was with your mother hehe. More or less. I do come on strong.
That was a lot of fun, I do not take video but this makes me want to try ... thanks Arthur it was fascinating. Jenessa you need to find a new villain.... hang on to the director and cinematographer though 😀 🎥
Awesome review! This looks like something I would need. Your wife's acting and your cinematography are good!
Awesome job! always enjoy your vid
From those skits I can tell you guys had a lot of fun, which make me enjoy it even more
Terrific review. I'll keep this lens in mind if I ever get into cinematography.
Really nice review Arthur, thank you.
lmfao @6:22 this is gold, dude.
Your scene is actually better lit than most movies or shows, which are always so damn dark.
How did you feel doing manual focusing? Was it difficult? Say if you're on a gimbal, how are you going to do that... I guess you're not lol.
I would love to see you just shoot b-roll wide open.
I'm having so much GAS with these lenses.. thanks? LOL
LOL love your bond sequence, but I would have gone with Janessa Bond.
Beautiful as always, Arthur your man!
You got the “demonic killer” look down pat! Great lens (35mm) I’ll have to think about this for purchase
That was fun...and cool. Both of you😎. Good review overall 👍
Excellent video! Arthur why were you smiling in your acting scene? 😂
That skit made my day. Loved the fight scene 😝🤣🤣😂
Love your humor bro.
No focus "Nibs" (colored markers) to show you your focus "points" of where to start and where to stop focus pulling, absolutely VITAL for cinematography (Hey, I've pulled enough 35mm film through a 400+ lb Mitchell to reach around the Earth 18 times, just to make 4 TV commercials, two 28 seconds long and two 58 seconds long, and yeah, we burn through that much footage for a new motor oil). The model photography by the Dykstra Brothers for the first "Star Wars" Movie used nearly 152,000 MILES of 35mm Kodak Kodachrome K-50 Tungsten run thru Nikon F-2A still cameras. 1:3.3 Isn't a standard anamorphic movie ratio. 1:2.2 is "Cinemascope" (TM) format and 16:9 widescreen TV is 1:3.4 and "native" to all decent DSLR's and mirrorless cine cameras and "blackband" 8K (New SONY and Canons)TV format is 1: 2.7, so 1:3.3 is an "orphan" format, which only will give your audience sea-sickness if they are 30% off center of the central axis of the taking lens due to anamorphic distortion. These pieces of JUNK are marked in F STOPS not T STOPS which are the ONLY thing a cine lens can be marked in without you having to do endless exposure calibration tests at different distances and light levels like back in the bad olde days circa 1916. The Technicolor Studios had worked out the T-stop system of calibrated transmission of light through lenses by 1921 in the full-length colour movie The Yellow Man and the Lady and yes it's still extant and yes, it's silent. Wanna do ten takes of every setting???? Back to Harold Lloyd....over 110 years ago. Never learn anything from the past I guess...
Would have been great to see a shot breakdown with a label showing which focal length was being used. Otherwise thank you 🙏
Great review. Sirui has nice selections of tripod too.
I find Sirui even in the soup these days. they adverticing is huge now.
Those lenses would probably be the best lenses for any cinematic collage short film project due to how they come extremely close in image looks to actual much more expensive cinematic lenses! :)
It was fun to watch too.
Excellent review. Thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge.
Nice! I have heard good things of these two new lenses. Oh.. I nearly spilled my coffee all over myself when you made your appearance in the James Blond! BWahh a hahahaha! Great stuff.. :)
Mate. great video, BUT you never, NEVER, add black bars to your export. just export the video in the aspect ratio you have, with black bars, those will be added by the end user´s player to conform to de screen. Otherwise, you´re losing resolution. I hope that makes sense, and excuse my English.
What do you suggest for full frame cameras? I understand that they have the ability to be used on an E-Mount, but I would like to find a budget lens for my a7S ii.
Makes me wonder why an ARRI lens costs $50k when a similar lens (obviously less quality but still great) can be produced for under $600
Brand recognition and greed. Also some research and development but there's hardly any new technology in how lenses work.
its a bunch of little things that add up I suppose. like focus breathing, bokeh quality, sharpness etc for example.
Because they are not made for the general consumer and probably made in much smaller batches. They are also 2x anamorphic which would be considerably harder to engineer and a different class of lens altogether.
I wish I could afford the 35mm id cry for sure. Love your videos bruh bruh
Arthur, I loved that video James Blond 😉 It was good and the end was funny too 😉
1.33x is a bit tight, but better than nothing, especially at that pricing. I am looking forward for a more in depth testing. The scene you filmed is great by the way!
Hey Arthur, I've been looking for an APSC anamorphic lens, with 24mm equivalent frame.
I've always loved movies shot with those.
I remember a documentary, where some films were entirely shot at 24mm.
But if I"m not mistaken, an APSC Anamorphic lens would need to be a 16mm lens to give you 24mm, no?
I think there was one director, who had only that one lens, so that's what he used throughout.
Awesome video! Btw can they be used for photography(still photos) instead of video?
of course, just no autofocus & these lenses are aps-c
JAMES BLONDE ROCKS!!!
Be honest when you shot the sequence, did you use the Sony 6100? - if so I believe the camera has no stability and you didn't mention the lens had it. Did you use a Gimbal? - If so which one please. Great video.
Those are really cool. But I don’t really know how much anybody really wants to invest in APS-C lenses these days when everybody has full-frame cameras that are just as small. And if you’re excited about investing in good APS-C lenses, they’re usually cheap. I got the Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 for $243. You can get Sigma’s APS-C 30mm f/1.4 for $309. If I’m trying to be cinematic I’d probably rather have that f/1.4 bokeh.
Yesterday I bought the 50mm and it worked great on my a7iv... Used it w clear image zoom x 1.3 and in 4k 60fps apsc mode. I wish it covered a FF sensor, but there's one that does but it's almost 3 times more expensive. I rather save $ and stick w the APSC lens 😅
Do these lenses work on a full-frame camera? The acting was great.
They are designed for APS-C.
@Kyureki Hana designed for APS-C & no autofocusing 😣
@@mirrorlessny Yep, no autofocusing either, although I don't find that much of a problem for still photography with my 50mm as long as the subject is stationary, due to being able to assign the manual focus assist to one of my custom buttons. From what I understand, people who use this for cinema generally like having control over their focus anyway, and have other tools to help them with that.
@@KyurekiHana of course, good point
I would love to see a comparison with one of the Sirui anamorphic lenses and the Sigma 16mm (letter boxed in post).
After purchasing the 30mm and 16mm Sigma (largely due to watching your channel) I now find myself obsessing about buying the Sirui 35mm. Please help me decide Arthur! Should I buy this lens, or should I just settle trying to emulate a widescreen cinematic shot with my 16mm Sigma? Love your channel BTW, it has a great vibe to it.
Hi Arthur, how is the still image quality of these lenses? Just curious how good the still images are..
Would love to see how those bokeh looks at night too!
I have the 50mm and use it a lot for photgraphy, it's just so much fun! Sharpness is not great wide open but gets really impressive if you stop down a bit. I was impressed. It easily outresolves my a6500 from F2.8 onwards.
@@morimetz Okay, so are you stretching the image in post or keeping it squashed?
@@MiaogisTeas I'm correcting the photos for the 1.33 squish factor, otherwise it just looks wrong.
Nice work!
You know, i'm halfway watching this ep right now and i'm sure by then end of 2020 you'll have 1M diehard fans & viewers
Hi Arthur, if you have time would you pls review Viltrox7.5mm/2.8 . Thank u so much in advance.
These lenses seem awesone.
Do they cover a Full Frame sensor or only APS-C?
I really would like to try that 35mm, but my video skill wouldn't do it justice...
APS-C
Bone sequence was entertaining. I really thought you would have gone with 'Jane Blonde' lol
watched for the lens, liked for the James Blonde
can't wait for Arthur's A7c review.
I love the skit!
Since Sirui didnt ship the mount adapter with the 50mm version of this lens it would be great if they at least offered it now as an after sale product. I have the emount of the 50mm and would like to be able to use it on my MFT camera also
"James Blonde" 🤠 Nice review.
I think your shutter speed was a touch high for the sequences, no? No ND filters available?
Awesome man!!
Wow looks good, and that price! 😍
First of all, the acting was phenomenal and gave me a good laugh lol. It's an intriguing lens, but I have to pass because the oval bokehs are not as stretched out as what I'm used to seeing on the big screen; although yes I understand it's a small fraction of normal anamorphic prices.
Hey Arthur, hope all is well ... whats your review of the Sonly a7c... on a the fence from about upgrading my Emount lens
Hi Arthur, thank you for the infos. How wide is the 35mm MFT on the APS-C? I wonder if I could only choose one lens on APS-C - between Siri 24mm APS-C and the 35mm MFT - which one is wider in the end on the A6500 etc. ? Thanks
Sirooee you mean!
Amazing acting. The lenses are very nice too 😄
I'm wondering when there will be a 35mm and 50mm full frame version for my Panasonic Lumix S1 & S1R...!!!
@Arthur R I am starting out taking pictures and bought a camera couple months ago the sony a6100. The lens that it came with sucks in my opinion, what is a good starter lens I can get off amazon that is in the 100-200 dollar range that will give me nice quality pictures?. I will be using my camera for my web design business taking the pictures and putting them in my websites for my clients.
I would probably buy sirui anamorphic lenses if they weren't so sharp. Because of that sharpness sirui anamorphic doesn't look filmic to me. But it's ok for that price, and maybe softening filters or some work in post with blur could help. Overall I think it is a good lens if you like that video documentary sharpness. I personally like softer filmic cine lenses.
6:22 Nemesis looking at jill
Hi I was wondering if i have an MFT mount for the Sirui 50 could i use and adapter and use it on my a6500? i know they have one for the 35mm..but im not sure if it will work for the 50 anamorphic?
Which is better lens for sonya6400 g18-105 or 85 mm i am so confused please reply
Any mention where these Sirui lenses are made?
Bro you and your little knife just got F’d up🥴🥊
Am I old or is your Sony a6500 video you made feel like 10 years ago?
Nice stunt work! 😉
When I am hungry, I use ananasmorphic lenses.
it's a shame that suiri don't want to release 35mm for fuji ;(
Good one!!!
Yongnuo 50mm S DA DSM please.
O wow...!!! No wonder why Hollywood is going down...more people can afford those lenses now and compete with the Big Guys...and Jenessa is becoming more popular than some small Hollywood stars...who are...flipping burgers now...cause of corona...
Your in Austin! Howdy neighbor
Did you even say if these were FF or APS-C lenses?
Since you've been a Sony alpha shooter for years, can you review the Xperia 1 ii or Xperia 5 ii since put so much of the alpha and Sony cinema camera tech into them?
Hahaha I love that shot video
Wowwww
I want emm too😭
Maybe try using the 180 degree shutter rule? Doesn't look as cinematic without it
Is nikon d5600 or sony a6000 is better.
I have no knowledge about cameras
So please anyone reply 😀
Subscriber from Kerala,India........🇮🇳🇮🇳
A6000 in my opinion I’ve had both and the 6000 has so many more features and Nikon autofocus is underwhelming
@@matthewframmolino2164 how much distance get in 55-210mm lens
Since these lenses are for APS-C, will they work on a full-frame camera that is set to crop-mode (Super 35)?
Instant like for James Blonde, the rest doesn't really matter.
cost?
Not as good as Elmoscope II 2X anamorphic lens, which can be mounted onto a lens via filter adapter, and enables autofocusing
m200?? need adapter or there making lenses for?
First action sequence shot in texas without firearms.
6:22 hahaha what the hell was that
Sony a7c review ?
Hello Arthur!
no autofocus right?
Love your film..... oh, major GAS
Dude, are you related to @hooviesgarage? Lol
OK, who else was just here for the Bond part?
