There's "kue bantal" (pillow cake) too, that same like this video, it's a sweet version of cakwe but the shape like pillow, and the dough is sweet but still can be eat with condensed milk. But this one is also looks amazing. Well, mostly South East Asian has similar foods, snacks or drinks. 😊😊😊

Thank you! We used to make pa-tong-kow or youtiao/yu char kug with ammonia bicarbonate to inflate the dough which was /allegedly/ a dangerous substance, but with baking powder+baking soda it sound more safe to eat. Thank you for making one of our best street snacks!

I eat these to accompany joke which is a rice congee with small, pre-cooked, pork meatballs, and sometimes raw egg is put in the bowl or bag to cook from the residual heat so the yolk is still soft. Add fish sauce, sliced green onion, shredded ginger, fried slivers of garlic, and black pepper to finish. Patongo translates to Goldfish Tails.
For all those who are wondering what is "soft" flour....it is cake/pastry flour with lower gluten content.
And could be substituted with a starch (both potato or corn)

Its just the texture might be different because of the lower protein content of the flour.
